Contraband Pirate Tourney II w/ side tourney

Best game format qualifier / head to head finals

Designated as: Event is a tournament

Sunday, March 22, 2020: The Contraband Pirate Tourney II w/ side tourney.

Lake Charles may have sadly done away with “Contraband Days”, but we pinball people are keeping it going! Join us for the second annual Contraband Pirate Tourney. This is a costume optional event! Join us in your finest pirate garb and get free entry. Aaaarrrrrrrgggg!!!!! ($5 entry fee for all others)

This is intended to be a short tournament. You may start as early as 1pm and you must show up by 2pm to be allowed to get started. The tourney will utilize the best game format of the matchplay software on a 95% modified decay scoring format.

Main tourney: The main tourney will be on the match play softwares best game format scored on a 95% modified decay format. There will be six different games in play, and you’ll get two plays on each game with both of your games counting (so 12 meaningful games in the qualifying period). The top four will qualify for the finals and the finals will be three four player games using the papa style format (3 points for first, 2 points for second, and 1 point for third on each game). There will be 18 meaningful games in total.

Side tourney: The side tourney will be played on a single game. You will be given two opportunities to play and your two scores will both count on matchplay best game (so the qualifying will have two meaningful games). The top four qualifiers will then play head to head with the bottom two dropping out and then there will be a final single game to determine first and second place (so the entire side tournament will have a total of five meaningful games).

The total entree fees, which will cover both events, if $5. You must pre-register for this event, spots are limited to no more than 25 players (we expect this event to fill up). You may pre-register by contacting the tourney director or the Louisiana IFPA representative Mike VanEtten at 337-962-4078. If you have never played a tournament in Lake Charles before please be prepared to provide your complete contact information including your phone number and domicile mailing address along with your IFPA number (if you do not have an IFPA number you need to visit with Mike about acquiring one before the tournament).

Please note this event is at a law firm and no one with a felony will be allowed entrance. No alcohol is allowed on the premises. Please dress and behave appropriatelY as this is a place of business and we are lucky they allow us to set up our machines here for the event. No alcohol on site. Clean up all of your debris before you depart. There are no cash prizes and no trophies for this event. Some prizes may be provided for “grudge matches”, which are not part of the tourney but are always a lot of fun.
