A nice machine to look at but not much fun after that.
- the videos are repetitive and boring
- the ball gets stuck a lot in that rotating thing
- the layout is uninspiring, 2 ramps, a couple of bumpers, that rotating thing and a crane all packed into the upper field
- lacks flow
I played a few games but couldn't get into it.

I love this game for the artwork alone. Plenty of drop targets and 2 spinners work well together. The lower bank requires careful handling. A poorly timed shot against the post will drain the ball while you can sweep the entire bank if you hit it perfectly. Getting the spinners lit is where the money is. You accomplish that by dropping the corresponding drop target bank if I remember correctly. I have been trying to find a well preserved example of this game for years without much success.

Many people love the Star Wars theme. I get that, but it does nothing for me. So what I am left with is an uninspired, overpriced Stern title that is just OK. I don't mind as much the wide open playfield as this can work really well (examples: IM, Aerosmith) but the lack of toys, lack of flow and so-so artwork. I played 5 games on location and moved on to more fun titles near by.

I had the chance to play many games on Alien. The engineering of the game is absolutely superb, probably the best ever to date. Modular design, with wire connectors everywhere. The artwork is impressive, even cabinet decals are interchangeable along with the playfield. No wonder they ran into financial problems considering the effort that went into each game and the money they charged. Hopefully that gets straightened out, I would hate to see a company that build such a wonderful machine go under.
The game play is fun with lots of good shots and the alien toy is coll when it picks up the ball. The upper left flipper is of marginal usage. The lighting is the only real complaint I have. The game is way too dark which makes it difficult to follow the ball. Some light mod could easily remedy this problem. The game is fairly difficult and the ball likes to drain in the outlanes. The bottom flippers are relatively close together and have a post in the middle, so drains rarely happen there. However, their up angle is very minimal which makes it challenging to cradle the ball. The flippers have the right amount of power to accomplish their task but not any more than necessary. I experienced little to none airballs and other unusual behavior that can put undo stress on playfield components. The ball didn't get stuck once during the entire time we played on it.

Simple and fun. I love flipping the farm animals and then hit the reset to flip 'em all back in place. Not sure about the lastability but it sure was fun for a few games I played on it. 4 flippers, 2 kckout holes and 2 bumbers provide plenty of action.
The outlane arrangement is unique with the bounce back. If the rubbers are new and the playfield is waxed and in good shape this works amazingly well. I had something like a 80% success rate getting the ball back into the inlane. A little nudge at the exact right timing and it works like a charm. I had pretty long ball times for an EM. If the rubber has the wrong "bounciness" or the playfield is in poor shape this could be a drain monster.
The art work is above average but nothing to write home about. If I had more space I would own one of these machines. Certainly one of the better EMs.

Awesome artwork. The rules are simple. 1-4 in 3 colors. For each number you close out a 5K score it lit. The objectives consist of roll overs and stand-up targets, unfortunately no drop targets. It builds over all 5 balls, so you don't start from ground zero with each new ball. The flippers have no inlanes which makes stopping the ball very difficult. It has 3 slingshots and 3 bumpers which play very nicely together. The lower left sling shots it up to the upper right sling which passes it over to the bumpers. Play times tend to be fairly long for an EM.
Overall a game that is much more fun than I expected judging by the simplistic playfield layout.

Could have been great but some serious design flaws kept it down. 20 drop targets, 2 bumper and and bunch of kick-out holes should make for a fun combination if it wasn't for the poor layout and 2 inch flippers. The stand-up targets in the center block any direct shot to the upper playfield, so the vast majority of the game happens in the lower 1/3 of the field which really isn't all that much fun. Too bad, this one had a lot of the ingredients to be really great.

Similar layout as Star Trek (Stern, 2013). Fun game I would most likely own if I didn't have as many friends that own the game already. Solid game all around, always a blast to play.

I played this relatively rare game for the first time at a local pinball expo. That was a lot of fun. I came back several times for another game. No shooter lane, the ball launches from between the flippers. You can get a special by scoring points or runs. 4 flippers and a target rich environment provide plenty of entertainment. For the vari-targets you need to take good aim otherwise you hit the bumper.
I was lucky that the game I played on was for sale. Bought it on the spot and took it home.

Awesome EM that is somewhat underrated. Turn on the pop-bumpers with the roll overs in the upper field. Once you get all the targets the black center target will rest for 5000 points each. That's where the money is. You have to be extremely careful aiming at the targets as it easily reflects straight into the outlanes. It takes a bit experience to know what shots you can get away with and which ones will head for the outlanes. Uniquely addictive game that always has me coming back for more.

What a gem of a game. The artwork is absolutely spectacular. The layout is unique not having sling shots above the flippers in favor of more roll overs like Fast Draw.
The rules are awesome. You have to hit the right stand-up target to reset the drop targets. Try to get as many roll over targets (A, B, C, D) to light the bonus for the kick-out hole in the upper right as it will advance the thermometer accordingly. So with all 4 lit is will advance 4 slots. The lit roll overs also advance the thermometer by a single slot. Very addictive, always have to play one more game because I know I can do better. One of the very best EMs ever made.

This game suffers from the same design flaw as many games of that era. The upper part of the field is not accessible once the ball traveled to the lower section of the field. Yes, you might get lucky every now and then that a pop-bumper will shot the ball through the roll overs into the upper section but it is nothing you can aim for. Some kind of lane to the upper field would have fixed this problem, too bad.
Rules are good, artwork is nice, the 2 inch flippers and lack of in-lanes feeding the flippers are not my thing.

I was fortunate enough to get 3 games in at a recent pinball expo and watched other people play. The layout is fantastic and makes for excellent flow. Good shots from all 3 flippers. It is not a drain monster like GB. Lots of toys and gimmicks to interact with. It is almost perfect in any way. You can tell it is very well thought out. The flippers are a bit weak to make the left ramp shot. Even perfect shots dead center barely make it (gameplay 4/6). At least that was the case on the machine I played.
The backglass animations are very entertaining for the audience. It takes so-so quality pictures of you while playing and displays them on the backglass/screen. This is one of the best or maybe the best machine made in the last few years. Too bad it is $9K. Maybe one day, but today is not that day.
Update:
I got to play on an LE version yesterday. The software has made significant advances since I last played on it. Beautiful artwork, excellent lighting, awesome toys and the best flow all of pinball has to offer.
Under the playfield everything is very tidy. Wire connectors everywhere, so you don't have to (de)solder to change or repair various components. Everybody playing had a great time, what a wonderful game.
The bad: The ball got stuck under the trap door because of some assembly error that cradled the ball instead of letting it roll back to the kickout under the phone. The other problem was that the stop on the ramp that feeds into the left inlane is woefully insufficient. The ball overshot multiple times and jumped over the flipper or lane guide to drain. Admittedly the game was setup a little steeper than specs call for, so that surely aggravated the problem.
Arguably the best pinball game ever made to date.

Super cool back glass. If I had the room I would buy it for the back glass alone. The game is pretty average for its time period. Collect bonus enough to light the spinner and then go for the big points by hitting the spinner repeatedly.

Ugly game, lots of fun
Difficult shots, good flow, good toys, good rules. If you can get past the looks it's a great game to play that can be had at a bargain price. One of the best fun to buck ratios out there.

Fairly fun pinball with good call outs and plenty of toys. the layout is not the best which limits flow. The right side is a bit cluttered. The mini playfield seems like a good idea but gets old pretty quick. fun in an arcade but due to limited lastability nothing I would want to own. Similar to Family Guy.

Most pinball machines are average, some stick out because because they are far below average and a selected few are far above the herd. This gem clearly belongs to the latter category. Nice layout provides for good flow. Plenty of toys, ramps and a target rich environment. The machine is relatively easy but just a blast to play. It seems there are not many around as yesterday was the first time I ran into one these. I like it so much that I would buy one but first I have to throw out some furniture to make room.
On the down side, I am not much a fan of the art work but everything else is top shelf.

Very nice artwork and a decent layout make this pin to be an above average experience but not much more than that. Ramps, drop targets, captive balls, 3 pop bumpers, its all there. The flow was so-so. Overall the graphics are better than the game play. Nice machine to play at an exhibition but way to expensive to own. For that kind of money there are more fun machines out there.

Easy but fun machine to play. Shoot the pyramid! OK, might get old after a while but I enjoy playing this machine. Especially considering the price it beats out many higher priced pinballs.
Good handling with the 3rd flipper and satisfying to take it volley into the pyramid.

A very unique layout I have never seen in any other machine. The left/right button controls the 2 left/right flippers. The lower one snaps up, like you would expect and the upper one snaps down. Kind of like an alligator mouth. This makes it fairly easy to effectively trap the ball. I really like the concept.
4 pop bumpers add some life to this machine. You have several rollovers, 2 kick-out holes and a lower gap with 2 bouncy posts great for nudging. Overall a very different but fun pinball experience.

I finally got to play Majorettes. It's an interesting concept for sure considering the unique layout of the flippers, bouncy rails and kick-out hole. Yes, I nudged the ball into a hole and it kicked it back onto the field. It's cool and fills me with a sense of accomplishment put unfortunately that where my love for this machine ends. The artwork is OK, the layout of the upper field is sub par but typical for the time period. You can't trap the ball with the flippers and even if you could there wouldn't be much to aim for.
I played a few games so I can say "been there, done that" but I'll leave it at that and move on to more fun machines to play.

I had the good fortune to play this gem of an EM machine at a recent exhibition. The artwork is absolutely stunning, one of the very best out there.
As far as the play itself goes it doesn't have any outstanding features but it is fun with good rules and a decent shot selection.
I don't understand why only 300 of this game were made. With that quality artwork combined with a very fun game this gem should have been selling like hotcakes.

My Grandpa likes Wheel of Fortune, he also drives a Lincoln Town Car. If you tried you couldn't come up with something lamer than Wheel of Fortune. The rules are so-so, nothing to get too excited about.
The game flow, ramps, nice layout and the post between the flippers make for a very fun game. I played several games at a recent exhibition and was pleasantly surprised what this "ugly duckling" had to offer. With my limited space at home I still wouldn't want to own one since it hurts my eyes. With a different theme the game would have done much better.

What a fun game! I hope they make a remake of it. Nice artwork and lost of cool shots. I love how the hat flies up when I hit the outlaw or the foam on the beer. The gun fight is cool when the targets of the bad guys pop out of the field. Overall the machine is pretty easy but very entertaining.
The one I played had the 2 guns in the lower playfield which are blocking the view. I though to myself, what a stupid mod. But looking at pictures it seems to be part of the game. That's why I rated "lighting" only as a 2/6. Why you would want to block the view of the ball near the flippers is beyond me.

A very awesome looking machine, cool sounds and great lighting. The green glow of the slimer toy is perfect. The game is moderately fun but certainly not a must-have in my book. First of all it is a drain monster. Left lane, right lane and a huge gap in the middle. Even shots that hit their intended target (ghost and dug out middle left) tend to take an unfavorable trajectory and drain. That shouldn't happen on a well designed table.
The center ramp is very steep and it takes an absolutely perfectly timed shot to send it over the top. I had several good shots that made it almost to the top and came back down on a dangerous trajectory.
The view of the top and bumpers are obscured by the city model. I like to follow the ball and not look at some semi cool decoration. Most ramps are very tight and require a well aimed shot otherwise it reflect and most likely drains.
Overall a very pretty machine that is above an average pinball experience but not anywhere near the top of the list in the fun-to-play category.

Wow! What a great game! I 'm not a Kiss fan but the machine is absolutely awesome. Fantastic layout, superb flow and a target rich environment. The steep ramp around the head requires a precision shot to make it all the way to the top, other ramps are lower and much more forgiving. The stage in the upper left with the opposing slingshots is a cool feature but it requires some exact shot to enter.
The color selection is good and the machine is pleasant to look at. The sound, well I am not into Kiss.
In summary I would say this game is severely underrated. This is one of the very best.

Roller Disco is definitely a game that looks MUCH better than it plays. Unfortunately the neon colors have a high tendency to fade, so finding examples with the original colors can be a challenge.
I really wanted to like this game because it looks cool. Layout and game flow are just abysmal.
You have the two no good stand-up targets in the middle of the field restricting access to the upper 50% up the field. 2 symmetric target banks of 5 targets each are something to aim for but for a wide body that's a pretty poor overall showing. If it would be 2 target banks of 10 targets each, some spinners, saucers, lanes, cool rules, etc. It's all absent from this pin. Ed Krynski must have had a bad day when he designed this game.

The first thing that stands out about this game is the cringe worthy artwork. Big haired women riding Dolphins. Once you get beyond the artwork it is actually a pretty entertaining game with decent flow, lots of targets and a good layout.
Nothing I would put in my collection but at a recent pin expo I came back to this title a few times because it is fun to play.
Better rules and better art would have propelled this title far beyond its current rating.

I got to play the Hobbit at a recent pinball expo. The machine was under heavy use and I had to time it right to get a few games in. The visuals are absolutely stunning and attracted huge crowds. The game itself was not as spectacular as the visual impression. The field is wide open with various creatures popping up out of the field, like the Trolls on "Medieval Madness" or "No Good Gofers". Some targets in the upper left, 2 symmetrical ramps crossing in the upper center and a few other gadgets in the upper right (pop bumper, roll over, hole). The play times are long and most drains happen on the right outlane. The flow is decent but not great and the novelty wears off fast.

I am not a big fan of the group Kiss but the machine is not all that bad. The design is colorful, backglass and field are pretty decent to look at. Nice ramp and lane shots provide decent flow, Targets on the side and the stage/pit/whatever on the upper left make for an above average pin. I found play quite fun and got a game or two more in than I would normally at a show with over 100 pins to play.

Interesting looking game with a bunch of cool looking decorations on the playfield. The field is wide open with a few ramps and the wrecking ball up top. The game play, flow and fun factors were all about average. Not a bad pin for looks, but nothing I would put in my collection either.

An old Stern that looks kind of OK, how much fun can that be? Actually enough fun to be put on my wishlist. Plenty of action, 4 flippers, 3 pop bumpers and a bunch drop targets. The narrow outlanes provide for lengthy play times and the arrangement of the flipper actually allow some passing. Very unique layout that makes for a nice flow and a great pinball experience. One of the very best layouts and fun games of its time. I hope to add it to my collection one day.

I am not a big fan of symmetric playfields but this one is actually pretty good. Nothing too fancy but good ole fashioned pinball fun. 4 pop bumpers provide plenty of action, drop targets and a good layout make this an above average pinball experience. I used to play this machine a lot when it was new because it was easy to get free games. Even with a modest investment I was able to play for hours.
The artwork is pretty decent and the dark field offsets nicely against the silver ball.

A very unique layout. The major gripe I have is that you can't reach the top of the field anymore after you launches the ball. So 25% of the field is completely inaccessible. A major design flaw in my opinion. The 10 drop targets ans 4 flippers provide plenty of entertainment to keep me interested at least for a while. The layout without drain lanes but 2 pop bumpers instead is different and not bad at all even so I prefer the standard layout with lanes. It certainly makes for a slightly different game play when compared to standard flipper and lane arrangements. It has good lastability, one more try to get at all those 10 targets which is not easy.
The artwork is good but not great. One of the better EMs out there.

Very fast playing game with good flow, one of the very best ever made. The game is a joy to play. The main toy, a magnet/hand that allows to to place the ball into a tray is interesting and unique but not really my thing. The artwork is below average which is probably why this pin is relatively cheap considering the fun factor.
The excellent playfield layout greatly contributes to the flow, speed and fun factor of this game. Too bad the machine itself is kind of ugly.

Interesting looking machine with many ramps, a battering ram but not much else. The upper playfield adds limited entertainment value to the game and covers up much of the lower field. The dragon looks cool. It does take some good skill to shot the correct ramps the game indicates to the player. The machine plays nicely and offers good control. The rules? Beats me. Seems a bit convoluted, I shot at whatever is blinking.
In "special" mode the game blinds you with light flashes which I find very irritating (1/6 for lighting). Overall not a bad pin that plays well but not really my thing. I stick with Metallica or Star Trek as far as the newer Stern's are concerned.

Nice looking game with many gadgets, superb lighting and decent flow. I played a few games on it and had a pretty fun time. Every other missed shot seems to initiate a multi-ball sequence but that's OK. The sound isn't all that great, bordering on annoying.
Overall a very good game but not an outstanding game.

Colorful game, nice lighting and overall great looks. So much for the positive side. The game play was so-so, some nice shots with decent flow until the ball gets stuck somewhere. did they ever test this game out before shipping. Even only a few games would have shown that a few things don't work together, the Hulk being one of the main culprits. Not really a bad game but it could have been much better with just some minor improvements.

Another impressive looking Gottlieb machine of that era which wasn't all that much fun to play. The double flipper on the right doesn't do it for me. If you lose the ball on the lower PF it drains into the right outlane. WTF?? Other than that you have a 2 target banks in the upper PF to aim for plenty of pop bumpers and a captive ball. Poor flow and a poor layout just didn't do it for me, sorry.

A strange game indeed. I like it for its innovation, there's no other remotely like it. The ball locks in one place and it releases another ball somewhere else. I was taken by surprise the first few times but eventually figured out that there's a method to the madness.
Due to this unique concept you never have much of a game flow which limits the fun factor in my book. Still one of those machines you absolutely have to play if you ever have the chance but it lacks on lastability to ever own.
There should be an innovation/uniqueness rating category which is the strength of this game.

Not really one of my favorites but certainly an interesting concept. A game you certainly have to play to believe it but the novelty wears off pretty quick. Too bad, I really wanted to like this game because it was truly innovative but it didn't keep my attention for very long.

I remember this machine when it first came out. What an awesome machine I thought. Since back then I wasn't as affluent as I am today it took me a while to invest into a few games on this multi-level machine.
I was robbed! While the looks and the 3 level layout are impressive the actual game play was anything but. The lower PF is a cool idea but somehow doesn't add much to the fun factor. The 2 upper fields are really only a split single field with neither providing much flow or a coherent game. The main flipper layout is a bit of a disaster, 4 flippers and no good shots.
Still an impressive looking machine, just not much fun to play on. Reminds me of Gottlieb's Genie which was another impressive looking machine that was seriously lacking on the fun factor.

Good action, good music, good back glass, good game flow and a fair amount of toys make this a very enjoyable pinball to play. It's not the best in any particular category but it is well above average in all categories. I still like the ACDC a bit better but Metallic is an awesome machine by any measure.

I finally had the opportunity to play the highly rated White Water at an arcade museum. What a disappointment it was. First of all, I don't like playfields that are mostly covered up where you can't track the ball. Most of the time the ball is under ramps and gadgets on the field. The various channels the ball can travel look impressive but don't add to the fun factor as far as I am concerned. When the ball emerges from the upper left it aims right between the flippers which makes for lots of drains and short game times. The one flipper on the upper level has its purpose to aim for another lane but again doesn't add much to the gaming experience.
Obviously many people like this machine but it is just not my thing.

I was always turned off by this game due to that creepy head. It has some name I forgot. After having played every other game in the arcade I gave it a shot and I am glad I did. It was a really fun machine to play. Lots of good shot, good flow, nice layout and somewhat funny comments. There's a bit much clutter on the right side of the field but overall a very enjoyable pinball experience. So next time you run into this pinball machine, don't be afraid of that creepy head, it doesn't bite, it only swallows the ball.

I had the chance to play this game in a pinball museum/arcade. The artwork is so-so in my opinion, seen better, seen worse. The game flow is pretty good but somehow there isn't much to do. I must have shot a dozen consecutive balls up the ramp but the novelty wears off quickly. The battering ram is kind of cool but that's pretty much it as toys are concerned. The flashers are really annoying and hurt my eyes, that's why I gave it a 1/6 on lighting.
An OK game that's fun for a while but nothing that sticks out of the crowd. I quickly moved on to Metallica and MM which where the machines next to it.

Arguably the prettiest game ever made. It has plenty of drop targets and the unique flippers on the outlanes. You snooze you lose. Those things are difficult to time exactly right as they only work once right after the ball enters the outlane. I got good enough that I hit about half of them but timing is the key.
Getting to the upper level can be challenging. The upper level is pretty easy, I usually clear out all drop targets but you have to be quick as your time on the upper level is limited. Eventually the upper flippers will quit working and the ball returns to the lower field.
4 bumpers and 2 sling shots provide plenty of action, flippers are strong on the stroke but weak on hold which makes the ball recoil if it hits an up flipper going fast. Pretty challenging game overall that keeps me coming back for more.
The sound is OK, not annoying but nothing to write home about either. It's in Italian but I finally figured out what it is saying to me. It has 2 distinct voices, a male voice that insults you if you play poorly (It not all bad luck, no comment) and a female voice that compliments you when you did well (...I like to play with you).
The overall build quality of this Zaccaria pinball is better than its US contemporaries. Pretty well put together machine. Also the field is holding up nicely. It won't leave my collection any time soon ;)
Update: I had this machine for a while now and it still gets as much playing time as Attack from Mars or ACDC. One of the best pins ever made.

Underwater was the first pinball machine I ever saw. In Germany you had to be 18 to get into most arcades since they had slot machines as well. The bar I had to pass by on my way home from school had one of those machines near their window. I spend hours looking through the windows at this wondrous machine. It was inconstant use, so I got somewhat of an idea what to do. I finally got the nerve to walk into the bar act like I was 16 (minimum age requirement) and drop some coins into this pinball.
I was hooked ever since. The machine is actually pretty fun for an old EM but there are other ones higher up on my "want list"..

Pinball hell from my early childhood. I remember playing on this machine many times because it was by far the cheapest machine in the entire arcade near my home. I couldn't afford the fancier machines like Time Warp or Gorgar that had just come out. It was pure desperation, so I was stuck playing "Aces & Kings". To be fair, "Aces & Kings" is better than no pinball at all. Not much to shoot for except those spinning post and the stand up targets. If you were careful and avoided the "Post down" button you could play for a while. The saucers at the side required correct timing otherwise the ball wouldn't stay.
Anyway, that's the first pinball I learned how to play on.

One of the coolest and most evil looking games ever made along with Centaur and Fathom. A game that looks and sounds this good just has to be fun! So, as a kid many years ago, I was throwing coin after coin into the machine hoping for the fun factor. I wanted to like this game but always left somewhat disappointed since this machine never delivered. Poor layout and poor flow just ruin a game that could have been one of the best. Still a very nice game to look at if you have the room.

I love the Stones but the game is rather disappointing. Nothing really horrible but nothing that did me want to come back and play another game either. The music is good, the art work sucks and Mick on a stich is a bit annoying. Move on, nothing special to see here.

The playfield looks interesting but is not all that much fun to play. Artwork and sound are horrible, nuff said. I never liked split playflieds. Now you have 2 small fields, neither one being particularly fun and all together make for a poor flow.
On the bright side, it has a magna save and a mini field with a mini ball in the upper left which is semi-cool. It's OK to play a few games but then my interest in the game faded quickly.

It has some of the coolest artwork of any pinball machine in my opinion. But opinions differ and my wife absolutely hates it, that the only reason I don't own this machine.
It has a fair number of toys on the field, unique outlanes, multiball, a decent flow and great sound. I wouldn't want to own this game for the fun factor alone. It's fun but there're better machines out there. The artwork and the sound are what separates this machine from the rest. The only con is that sometimes the silver ball is a bit difficult to track against the black and white background.

I had the please playing this gem on a recent visit to Chicago. Not too many toys clutter up the playfield and a nice layout makes for very fast ball movement that trains your reflexes. There are plenty of difficult shots and stuff to keep you entertained. Too bad I don't have that machine anywhere in my n'hood.
I would call this game underrated because it suits my style of play. Good flow, non-stop fast and furious fun.

One of the prettiest games ever made. I had the pleasure playing one of those machines on a recent visit to Chicago. It could have been all that and then some but is isn't. The game play is somewhat uninspiring. The pop bumper after the ball drains one the left lane is a complete waste and somewhat symptomatic of the entire layout. No real game flow or much of a strategy. Too bad I really love to look at this game since it looks very impressive.

If you're not a NASCAR fan the game looks OK at best. The ball making the few laps around the field is a cool idea but gets old after a while. It adds nothing to the fun rating.
The field has a fair number of toys and stuff to go after but nothing I would describe as a target rich environment. The flow was about average.
Overall an OK pinball but nothing I would spend space or money on.

Congo is a reasonably attractive game, especially the back glass and cabinet, the field not so much. It has a good game flow and a decent number of toys. A bunch of different modes keep things interesting. The sound is OK, nothing special.

A tale of 2 machines. The main play field is a pretty nice pinball in itself. Decent layout and flow combined with a relatively target rich environment. Fun game to play.
The upper field is pretty silly. It adds absolutely NOTHING to the game play. Actually it is mildly annoying.
Still, overall a fairly attractive and fun to play game.

A nice looking game and truly unique. I played several games at APE. So you start with 3 pinballs (motorcycles) that you race over the field.
I am not a big fan of multi-ball experiences. I know its a must for every pinball since the early/mid 80s, but still not my thing. Once you lose 2 of the 3 balls there's really not much to do. The split (lower & upper) play field layout hinders flow. So you have 2 small fields that both are not very exciting. I really wanted to like this game but it just wasn't meant to be.

Getaway certainly has a better back glass than the original but as far as play is concerned I like High Speed better.
Too much stuff cluttering the upper playfield. The 3 upper stand up targets are difficult to reach.
Still the flow is nice, the rules are good and the overall play is a blast. Still, I just feel it could have done better, better than the original which it wasn't.

The most outstanding detail about this pinball is the nice artwork on the back glass and field. Certainly one of the better looking machines.
The bonus is a 2% or 3%,... whatever tip. That's a cool idea. The overall game play was good but not great. Flow was so-so, too much of the upper field covered by stuff which makes it hard to follow the ball.
Overall a pretty good machine that looks better than it plays.

Fairly attractive machine with good flow and an interesting theme. It's pretty easy, I was scoring goals like it was basketball not football (the sport Americans call soccer).
Controllable kick-out is cool and the goaltender is a neat idea. Yesterday I had the opportunity to play this gem again. Not much of a challenge but it is always fun to score on the goalie. My wife likes it too, so i think I just have to get one of those. In the price to fun ratio this one is hard to beat.

The artwork is so-so. Has pretty decent flow to it, and a fair number of toys. The vault is kind of cool. I like how you can work yourself up through the ranks. I never made it to Boss or Under Boss, but that what kept me coming back for more. Overall an above average machine as far as actual game play is concerned that suffers from below average artwork.

Terrible artwork make this machine an instant turn-off (like High Speed or Flash). Once you get to play you find that this is actually an incredibly fun machine to play on (like High Speed and Flash). Nice game flow, target rich environment and the control handle make for an overall fun pinball experience. Despite the awful artwork it was a blast to play.

Tons of cool gadgets, especially the wand, and stuff to aim for. The ball does not drain easily. Decent but not great game flow, good rules are the upside of this game. The artwork is so-so. Cabinet looks very nice, back glass is OK and the field is below par. All the moving toys are probably a bit challenging to maintain over time.
Overall a pretty fun machine to play on.

Nice layout, good sound and a fair number of toys make for a very enjoyable pinball. The ramp shot is pretty cool, really liked that. From the actual play there's no aspect I don't like about this title.
On the down side, I can see how that many moving gadgets can be a maintenance nightmare. So I might not want to own one but I'd play other people's Gofers all day long.

Great artwork, lots of toys and good layout. So far so good. That double flipper on the lower left ruins an otherwise perfectly good game. Double flippers look cool put are a pain to play. The ball bounces going from the upper to lower flipper which makes aiming impossible.

I love drop targets and hate symmetric fields. This game has both. Pretty straight forward, 4x4 target banks and 4 flipper make for an entertaining game but eventually gets old. The layout is so-so, love the targets and 4 flippers but the upper field is very difficult to access and somewhat a waste of space. The artwork is OK, certainly nothing extra special. Overall a decent game

Short flippers and poor play field layout make this a below par pinball experience. The upper part of the field is only reachable by pure luck, the center target bank blocks access to most of the field. No lanes leading up to the upper third of the field, poor design. The ball drains very easily at the sides. 2 slings and 1 bumper make for very boring game play and the artwork is nothing to write home about.

An OK game. Many toys and stuff to shot at, interesting outlanes and a somewhat poorly placed "center piece" that blocks shots to the upper play field. The game flow is so-so at best. The artwork is remarkable, nut not necessarily in a good way.
It's worth a game or two but certainly nothing I would put in my permanent collection.

You have an upper and lower playfield which both are fairly boring. Poor layout, poor game flow, few toys and so-so artwork make this pin a total waste of time.

I didn't even knew the game existed until I ran across it at APE 2015. Super cool artwork, fun game play, good rules, good game flow, plenty of toys and somewhat novel ideas (trapped ball behind drop targets, outlane design) make this a very unusual but extremely enjoyable pinball experience. Rare and expensive, too bad. Otherwise I would own one. A true gem.

I was thinking about buying this game because it looks cool. Good thing I got to play on it before I did. This has to be the worst playfield layout of any machine. Too much stuff way too far down on the field blocking shots to the upper field. Most of the upper field is covered by stuff so you can't follow the ball movement. Just pure pinball hell.
The artwork is really nice, absolutely love it. too bad that the game itself stinks.

Very nice artwork, good action and superb game flow, decent sound, ramps and a good number of toys make this a very fun pinball. The PF is a bit busy but other than that everything fits together nicely.
The overall game play is strong and the artwork is above average. I really liked this machine, too bad I only get to play it once a year at APE.
It's a bit on the pricey side but I hope this machine will find its way into my collection some day.

I updated my rating b/c I rated the Pro version instead of the Premium. My bad...
"Good action, good music, good back glass, good game flow and a fair amount of toys make this a very enjoyable pinball to play. It's not the best in any particular category but it is well above average in all categories. I still like the ACDC a bit better but Metallic is an awesome machine by any measure."
In addition to the Pro the Premium has more toys, better lighting and is just more fun to play versus the already incredibly awesome Pro version.

Another game I was very eager to play. Hmmm...not my type of game. A couple of ramps, the "evil eye" (or whatever that thing is called) in the center of the back board and a few toys make for an above average pinball but not much more than that. The artwork is sub par in my book and the entire LoR theme is mildly annoying. A fun machine to play a few games but nothing for my permanent collection.
If you are REALLY into LoR you might like it much better than I did.

I watched this game on youtube since I considered buying one. Nice artwork, plenty of toys but an awkward layout interrupts the game flow. Too many toys are too low on the lower left field blocking good shots and limit the entire pinball experience. I played several games on several occasions, still a fun game but certainly not my all time favorite. Lots of people seem to love it, but tastes differ.

By far the prettiest pinball ever produced. I wanted to play it so bad and finally had the chace at APE 2015. It's a nice machine but the game play was a bit disappointing. You keep on hitting the Ring Master over and over again, a ramp, the cannon in the backglass is cool, multi-ball. Overall a good machine that it real eye candy put the actual play gets somewhat repetitive after a while. Still wouldn't mind owning one since it is pleasing to the eyes.

Different game play than most, so you love it or hate it. I think it totally rocks. Lots of ramps, flippers, multi-ball and fast action make this game very enjoyable. If ramps and fast action it not your thing then look elsewhere.
I played one at APE 2015 where there were over 100 distinct pinballs and JD is in my top 5. An absolute delight to play. One of the most underrated games ever.

One of the greatest games ever made as far as the actual game play is concerned. The game is fast, very fast, fun and trains your reflexes. The rules are simple but the shots are very challenging. Keep the ball away from the outlanes as they drain very easily. The flippers are relatively close together, the ball rarely drains there if you play it right. The annoying voice tells you what to go after. This is helpful if you don't know the rules but gets old very quickly after you figured it out. The artwork is well above average for the regular version. LE kind of sucks because of the weird cabinet. That's a real shame, such a great game deserved better artwork and cabinet.
The play field offsets nicely against the fast moving ball, flippers are strong, the 3 bumpers work well together in the confined space up top. The side targets are relatively easy, the 8 ball and bonus multipliers are a bit more difficult. Especially the 5x multiplier and the bonus collect hole behind the "8 ball" target require some excellent aim.
After you take the side targets down you're left with stand up targets which is cool. There is really not that much "stuff" on the playfield but it all works together well for a coherent whole. A game for the advanced skill level that never gets old. As far as lastability goes this is it as far as I am concerned. No other game except maybe Joker Poker keep me coming back again and again.

One of the worst machines I ever played on. Keep on shooting at the captured balls in the middle, that's as good as it gets. This is one of those "what were they thinking" when they designed this game. To top it off, even the artwork stinks.
Pinball hell.

A decent layout, a spinning disk, some lanes, a kickout hole and some stand-up targets make this a pretty average game. The layout is good, you can reach the upper pf via the right lane but due to a lack of stuff to aim at this game gets old fast.

It has a little drop ball game in the backglass which is cool. What else is coll? Not much. Poor layout, the top part of the pf is inaccessible and wasted unless you get lucky with a bumper. The 2 stand-up targets largely block access to the middle pf. Not much to shot at, boring and uninspiring.
4.223/10

It is very unique with the spinner and that the 2 flippers on the left/right move in tandem and are operated by the left/right button. So if you press the left button, the 2 flippers on the left side of the pf move up instead of the 2 left filppers of each pair if that makes any sense.
So much for the good. The game play was very uninspiring. Too much room is wasted at the bottom, not enough toys/targets, poor game flow, overall just not my thing.

Not fun! I love pinball but this game is substandard. The ball drains easily at the sides, the posts in the middle of the lower pf are extremely annoying and there's very little to do or shot at. It plays as bad as it looks, time to move on.

A decent game, no more, no less. 4 flippers is all nice but unfortunately there's not much to shoot at. A bank of stand up targets in the middle and a few more at the side, that's it. At least you can get the ball back to the upper of which is better than many games from that era. OK to play on a few times but nothing special.

Surprisingly fun game. Plenty of drop targets, 3 standup targets, plenty of lanes on the right and top, 2 bumpers and a return on the right drain lane. The lower left of the pf has a weird layout which I don't care for. It's also difficult to return the ball to the upper pf unless you get lucky with the bumper. Overall an above average pin.

Other than a lack of toys on the pf this is a fairly fun pin. A few lanes and stand-up targets, some challenging shots, nice game flow and decent artwork kept me interested for a while. The bumpers are nicely placed, the upper pf is easily accessible. On the down side, the ball drains easily.

Another interesting concept. You have 4 flippers and not much else n the pf. The objective it to hit the stand-up targets in the upper pf which will advance the horses visible under the glass in the pf.
Cool idea but unfortunately is didn't keep my interest for very long. I was like "wow, what a coll idea! Got to play a game". After a few games it got old. Not much replay value.
6.934/10

Interesting concept that ultimately falls short. The pf layout is poor since you can't really get the ball up the the upper pf unless you get lucky with the bumpers. As you hit your objectives the X and o lights up in the middle pf. That's pretty cool and kept me at it for a while.
You should play it if you ever have the chance, but it is not interesting enough to add to my personal collection. A great concept that suffers for a poor pf layout. too bad.

This game caught my attention for the nice backglass. The pf is a bit barren but it ends up being surprisingly fun despite the lack of gadgets on the pf. The 2 bumpers in the lower left seem in an odd place but they keep moving the game along rather nicely. No left drain lane helps to keep the ball in play. 8 stand-up targets and 3 flippers make this game reasonable fun.
8.590/10
Underrated! What a gem of a game! Drop targets, various lanes, kick out hole and a great layout made me come back for more. After out drop the targets you'll find stand-up targets behind those which gives you something to shot at. I ended up spending a few hours on this machine. Certainly one I would like to add to my personal collection one day.

Hmmm... This pin is an example how not to design a machine. Ball drains easy. The 3 stand-up targets is the lower middle pf block any reasonable access to the upper pf with the 4 bumpers. So most of the time the ball is in the lower pf with absolutely nothing to do except try to get it back to the upper pf. In all very annoying. Finished one game and moved on.
5.903/10

3 bumpers and a dozen stand-up targets are the main attraction of this pin. The upper PF is a bit of wasted space. The only way you can get back up there is via the middle bumper. I consider that poor layout. OK for a few games but not that much fun.

Shooting drop targets never gets old and this is one of the best. The upper flippers are a bit awkward but overall it keeps me coming back again and again. One of the best (EM) pins ever made.
If you love drop targets, this is about as good as it gets (maybe besides Joker Poker) but if you're not into drop targets it probably won't keep your attention for too long.

My favorite drop target pinball. JP takes advanced skills on the flippers and at aiming to be successful when compared with most other machines. It will punish you for every mistake you make. Still it keeps me coming back again and again. Uniquely addictive.
The art work is absolutely awesome, busty women and cards, what's not to like? JP has some of the nicest visual appearance without making it difficult to follow the ball on the PF.
Game flow is nice as long as you are good at aiming. The Sound, ding-ding-ding.... certainly nothing special.
Cons: upper flipper is a bit awkward. Sides drain easily. If you're not into drop targets look elsewhere.
Bottom line: I played about every major drop target Pinball and JP is my favorite.

I don't like split PFs. The upper PF is not that great and the lower PF is not that great and as a whole it is just not all that fun. I played on it many years ago when it was new. The multilevel PF was a new idea back then. The novelty wore of pretty quick. This pin it just not my thing.

I liked TNG better. This is still a fun game, nice lighting, good game flow but somehow not as much fun as the last one. I played a few games in a dealer showroom which was nice but it never got me to a point where I would seriously consider buying the game.
Update: Got to play the game again at a friends house next to MM, Tron, ACDC, Game of Thrones, .... This is a really great machine. The artwork is certainly not my thing but the flow and fun factor are unmatched. So now I am seriously considering buying the machine.

Nice artwork, good game flow. I hit the boat left, right and center about 100 times. OK that was reasonably fun. After I was through with that it got old quick. A fun game in an arcade when you play a few games on it but nothing I would want to put in my collection.

The artwork on the PF is a bit busy, distracts from following the ball. The upper PF is full with ramps and stuff which makes it difficult to see the ball. A bunch of ramps and targets but no real great game flow. The machine holds the ball too often for too long. Every other missed shot it seems initiates a multi-ball sequence. Still, it was very entertaining for a while since there are several difficult shots to make. The play time per ball seems to last a very long time.

A decent pinball but overall nothing too special. A few good shots, a few good toys on the PF, decent game flow and a relatively long play time are the notable features of this game. It doesn't have any particular weaknesses but nothing really stands out either.

High Speed was the king of pinball back in its days and still holds its own due to a superb design and layout. The dame is just fun to play, fast and furious. the rules are simple but moderately challenging to accomplish. Everything works together nicely, the ramps, the flippers the lanes, the targets, the entire concept.
the biggest downfall is the rather ugly back-glass. Who wants to look at 2 cops? A hot chick in a Ferrari would have been more appealing.
Anyway, a real fun pinball experience and one of the most underrated games.

The machine is not much to look at, actually it is rather ugly. That being said, it is an absolute blast to play. Simple but great layout, fast and furious. Nice artwork and not much else. From the launch the ball runs along the rail and drains right through the middle. Wow, now that's exciting. Did they ever make a prototype and play on it? I guess not. The artwork is so-so, I am not a big fan of big ugly heads on the PF (Fun House, Cirqus V., etc.). A bunch of ramps but not much else going on. Played a few games and then spend the rest of my tokens on Ripley's which was next to the Road Show and a lot more fun. I know many people love this game but it just not my thing. Poor game flow, not enough targets and an overall uninspiring layout.

Nice artwork on the back-glass and cabinet are the most outstanding features of this game. The reflective projection on the glass is just awful. I played one game on it and decided that this is not for me. To my knowledge this was the only pinball that ever used the projection concept. Good because it really makes it very difficult to follow the action and is extremely annoying.

Update: I got to play this game again at a friend's house. Somehow I must have had a bad day playing it the first time. Very good flow, fast action. Putting a so-so photo from some Star Trek characters on the back-glass doesn't really look good or qualifies as artwork in my book. The cabinet looks good. Nice layout, interesting shots, lots of toys and a nice flow make this a very fun machine to play.

This game doesn't look all that impressive when I first stepped up to it. After playing it for a while you find out that it is a really fun game. Loved it! Nice game flow, lots of action with few interruptions. Only problem was that the reliability seems to be so-so. I was playing at a game room dealer that had the machine up for sale ($9000 if I remember correctly) and the ball got stuck twice in the 5 or 6 games I played. That sucked. Not sure if that is typical for this machine but I certainly crossed it from my "want list" for that reason alone. I would have given a game play of 6/6 but only gave a 5/6 b/c the sales person had to open the machine and remove the glass to dislodge the stuck ball.
I played the game in 2 other locations without a problem. The "ball getting stuck" problem seemed specific to that one machine only. ...and yes, it was just as awesome as I remembered. One of the funnest pinball games ever made. Just had to bite the bullet and get one of those.

Good concept if you like the Simpsons, funny comments and sound. The game is reasonably fun with some good shots. The PF and layout are the biggest problem. The bumpers are out of place and the mini PF in the upper left is an utter waste of space. You rarely get up there and when you do it is just not much fun.
Overall it is still a decent game but I thing it is greatly overrated.

This is a really underrated game. I still wouldn't want to own one, too many moving gadgets that are prone to malfunction.
Besides the reliability aspect this game is very fun to play. Lots of toys, lots of stuff going on the PF and nice flow. The crane comes in and interferes with the play so I whacked the hell out of it which invoked some comments from the joker. Not much a Batman (movie) fan but the game has its moments. I highly recommend playing it if you have the chance.

It's a very fun machine but didn't live up to the hype. I was considering getting a MMR but opted for the ACDC instead. I guess tastes differ but MM is not so much my thing.
The rules are very deep, the castle is awesome, the trolls are cool, so what's not to like?
It's somewhat repetitive, whack the castle, whack the castle again and then whack the castle some more.
Too much of the PF is covered by gadgets which makes it difficult to follow the ball and I was never able to develop a really nice game flow. It's more of a strategy game than a fast and furious type game which I like.
Edit: It's actually more fun once I got into it. The troll shots need to be carefully executed otherwise it drains down the middle.
Attack from Mars has a similar concept (Space ship instead of castle) but a nicer game flow.

Update: I played the game some more in an arcade museum. I figured maybe I was missing something and I was in the market for another high end machine. After another 10 games or so I still think its an OK game but nothing I would put in my collection or pay $8K for. I opted for Metallica Premium instead; better flow, more toys, better lighting, better sound and more fun.

I finally had a chance to play on the much hyped TZ. Many things that are hyped usually don't live up to their expectations. I am pleased to say that TZ did exceed my expectations. It is the coolest machine ever, at least in my book. A gazillion toys on the PF. Nice layout that allows for good flow and exciting play. Too many things to do, never gets old. Ok, at least not in the 3 hours I played on it. Games last a long time and allow you to accomplish your objectives (ie. it's a bit on the easy side)
The only complaint I might have is that the game gets interrupted more often than I care for. The ball disappears, stuff happens and then the ball appears somewhere else. Interesting, but gets annoying after a while. Still, overall this is pinball at its very finest bar none.

Impressive looking machine. Nice back glass, PF with neon lighting. I had to drop some game tokens into this one.
Unfortunately the game itself was not that much fun. Ball drains easily, flow is not that great, shooting up the ramps gets old quickly. I know lots of people like it but this pinball wasn't my thing. Too bad since it is real eye candy for any game room.

I like the band ACDC but never really took a serious look at this pinball. I was considering getting a ToM or MMR until I stumbled into this gem of a machine. OK the back glass is so-so, the LUCI version looks much cooler. I wish they would sell the LUCI back glass separately. The PF has nice lighting and a layout that makes for fast and furious game play (typical Steve Ritchie design).
The bell, the train, cannon, it's all there. The music is absolutely awesome...if you like ACDC, otherwise the sound might not be your thing. To play this machine is an absolute blast. It is very fast without interruptions and superb flow. One of the best pinballs ever!

I was considering buying ToM but I never played it before. I finally tracked down a machine about 70 miles from my home. Long story short, I am not getting it. The machine I was playing on was in terrible shape but I still got the idea of what the game could or could not be like.
It is fast and fun, nice art work. The backglass is really eye candy. Unfortunately the upper right half of the PF is covered by gadgets so you can't track the ball, that really irritates me. It's not a bad game, it is really fun, just not as cool as I hoped it would be even giving it credit for the deplorable condition that particular machine was in. A fair amount of shots to make but the flow and coolness factor are just lagging a bit in my book. But tastes differ, that's OK.

Good overall game. The art work is good, the game flow is nice. Selecting the them with the spider is kind'a cool. The game is easy and allows for extended gameplay. I actually managed to get the high score at my local arcade, that was cool.
Overall the game gets a bit boring since the shot selection is somewhat limited. Shooting up the ramps is exciting but after you shot 100 times up the left and right ramps it starts to wear a little.

Visually interesting game at the time. Lots of toys on the PF. The layout was somewhat lacking. The upper left drop targets are pretty much only accessible via the bumpers.
I remember play time being relatively short as the ball likes to drain at the sides.
Overall pretty fun game with no particular strength or weakness.

Unique game with banana flippers. I got excellent play time out of this machine. Almost never drains between the flippers. Somewhat of a beginners machine but that's OK when you were a pinball addicted kid on a tight budget. Yes, I played this game extensively when it was new.
The play is a bit repetitive. 2 banks of drop targets and not a whole lot more. The right lane is a difficult shot. Unfortunately it kicks it out about mid PF. The upper PF is pretty difficult to access. On the upside, 5 bumpers provide decent action.
the artwork is OK at best. At least it doesn't interfere with following the ball.

Fairly simple looking game that is surprisingly fun to play. Bumpers, drop targets, kick out hole, spinner, it's all there. The layout really brings that game to live. The ball travels all over the field, some shots are easy, others more challenging. I always got long play times out of this that's why I liked it a lot when I was a kid.
The artwork is not really my thing. Not particularly attractive or skillfully done. The only good about the art is that it doesn't interfere with the play in terms of being able to follow the ball.
Not much for looks but fun to play.

Attractive looking game with 5 flippers and lots of toys on the PF. At first glance you think fun overload. Once you start playing you quickly experience the short comings of this impressive looking machine. The layout is poor, the game doesn't flow well. If you trap the ball there's not much to shoot for, 4 drop targets and a spinner.
The bumper on the left seems oddly misplaced.
Still a very cool looking game I would like to own and look at. The fun factor is lagging a bit.
Edit: The lastability is better than I thought. Always gets me back to play another game.
Edit: Play it a lot. Game lives of building the bonus and the multiplier. You only get one chance of ripping the spinner after the ball hits the rollovers in the inlane. Next switch will turn it of the bonus per rotation. To build the multiplier you have to hit any of the 4 drop targets while the yellow light is on. It turns on and off randomly based on switch contacts. So when the light is on there is a certain sense of urgency to hit a target before it turns off again. Flow still sucks but the backglass the prettiest of any machine, especially with some LEDs installed.

Visually interesting game. The skill required to keep the ball in play is low, good for beginners. Overall the gameplay is moderately fun. The glaring problem with this machine is in the upper left corner. What were they thinking when they designed the game? What is the point of having that mini playfield with one flipper? A complete waste of space. Could have been a pretty decent game otherwise.

The art work is below par. That creature looks like some mutant turtle, not like a dragon. Ball drains quickly, the distance between the flippers seems to be the largest of any game I ever played.
Overall I found this game rather boring. No cool features, no drop targets. 2 bumpers, 1 spinner and 2 vary-targets, that's as bad as it gets.
