How my collection started

As a teenager during the 1970s I often hung out in the local bowling alley shooting pool during winter. Back then I was fascinated with the accompanying pinball machines but I chose to ignore them and play billiards with my limited funds because shooting pool lasted longer therefore l could “hangout” for longer periods of time in the warmth of the bowling alley. After a while those accompanying pinball machines would become an annoyance due to all their alluring sounds and my restrained desire to play pinball. One of my lasting memories of those days was when the movie “Tommy” first showed in 1975 and we went to see it while experimenting with something new called LSD. Now, over 40 years later, I’m retired and living a good life. My Pinside name (Who69EJ75) was chosen based on “Pinball Wizard” song recordings. The Who in 1969 and Elton John in 1975. Initially I wanted pinball machines associated with the Pinball Wizard song and the movie Tommy. But after seeing Pinside’s Top 100 EM list I became more interested in the actual pinball machines and accumulated a small collection of 1970s limited production (AAB) Gottlieb wedge heads.
