What more needs to be said? A true classic. Ball save SDTM without upper flipper intervention never fails to befuddle guests, and music doesn't live up to the rest of the game. But: those are nits. The power, Powerball, gum ball machine, excellent magents, great theme, and overall flow are top notch. One that will never leave my collection.

After years of waiting for the grand unveiling of the JJP/Pat Lawlor magnum opus, to the year of living with disappointment with the theme/artwork since announced, to the renewed interest since positive Pinside reviews started trickling in, I finally had a chance to play Dialed In this afternoon (thanks to the excellent crew at Madison Pinball;
Was in town for wife's family reunion; was thrilled to discover DI was only a few minutes across town).

Believe the hype. The game play feels EXCELLENT. Ramps are smooth, love the right orbit to rail design, magnet above right sling is really well done, moving target seems to be more playable than other machines' attempts, the Quantum Theater is a great add, and the phone is much better in play than in demo real/marketing brochures. Flow is what you'd expect from the master - with some shots being much faster than expected (in all the best ways).

Volume was relatively low in the bowling alley, meaning I'll reserve judgement on depth of game rules, stacking, bonus multipliers, etc. But: In Lawlor I trust, and assume I'll be pleasantly surprised once this one ends up in my collection.

My kids (11 and 9 year old girls) had a blast trying it out. Selfie mode was obvious favorite, but they also loved the light show and various videos (backbox, phone, quantum theater) Note: we have a WOZ75 at home amongst other pins, so they have relatively high threshold for being impressed.

I still don't like the cabinet artwork. And don't love the theme. But: when tucked btw a TZ and MMr, won't be able to see the former. And: expect to learn to appreciate the latter. All in all, came away with v. v. positive impression. And: a wife resigned to another large delivery showing up in our driveway sometime soon.
