This game really grows on you fast. The center pointer can be hit to land on a number - turning that light out - but that is not the only way to turn out those lights and light up the special. Angles mean a lot in the game play. There really are not straight shots or targets to hit - everything is a roll over or the center pointer. I prefer the 3-ball play, which has slightly different rules (double lights out for 1/3 and 2/4 and 9/10. Seems easier, but really isn't. The game never gets old, to me. The ball is never still since you can't hold up the flipper to hang it up - the angles are too steep. Overall, my favorite game to play currently in my collection.

This is a solid game, but can get rather boring after you start getting free balls (add a ball version). The most challenging aspect is to light all of the bumpers (A -B - C - D) and then score on the center target (300pts). The horse racing theme is good and the artwork is fun. The number of races won makes the game a double challenge - score and races. Overall I like this game, but it isn't my favorite.

The center pop bumper makes this game! It's a whole new strategy to try to wait for the bumper before hitting the ball with the flipper or to wait for it to pop back out. The overall goal of the game, lighting MAGIC*CITY is great! I especially like the optional special you can lite if you hit the roll over or center target on *. Hard game to play, which makes it fun long term.

I just picked this game up and it's not even working 100% yet, but I frickin' love it! The artwork alone is enough. Serious Jetson's rip off, but really well done. Lots of detail on both the backglass and playfield. However, this game is not just pretty, it's fun to play as well. This is one of the very first multiball pinballs. The balls are stuck in a kick out hole (locked) and then when you hit the targets, they get released for multiball play. Very nice. Also, there is a cluster of pop bumpers, which is always fun, and a number of roll over lights that need to be hit to get the Special lit. Very cool. Lots going on for a game from 1963. I think this may be a top ten EM game, in my opinion.

I like this game a lot. The play is VERY fast on the one I play locally. I especially like that you can get the ball into the bonus hole as a sort of skill shot. The kickers at the to top of the playfieild also help a lot. I'm a sucker for hitting targets, so that's a good feature as well. I think the artwork on the backglass it just fantastic. The game play can be fast, but also involves a bit of skill to ramp up the bonus points and light additional features. In general, a good game that I am always interested in playing.

Not may favorite game ever. I've played it a few times at a local spot and I'm getting used to it, though. This particular game has a lighter ceramic ball in it which makes game play faster, but maybe not better. The main issue may be the ease with which the ball can drain on the sides. I think the targets are a good touch, but not really enough. The center kicker hole is hard to get, but worth it. The problem is the ball often shoots right down the middle after it kicks out. I don't like the graphics, but they are kind of '70s interpretation of the 1930s-40s. This makes them look VERY 1970s, if you are into that kind of thing. I give it a solid - Meh.

This is a beautiful game - that should be enough, but it's actually loads of fun when you start playing it with other people. As a single player game its good, but the bonus features and "Gobble Hole" make it a fantastic challenge game for 2 players. For an early EM, the double bonus gobble hole is a great feature that really changes strategy. Since the bonus does NOT reset between players or even games, you can build up the bonus on Red and Yellow to 100pts, but you can lose those points to the next player! The double bonus gobble hole in the center makes it even more fun, since you can intentionally end your ball by shooting it down the double bonus gobble hole (when lit) and get as much as 400pts! That's a lot on a machine that has a fixed 1,000pt light - i.e. nobody gets 2,000pts theoretically. The bumpers a great on this machine and the bells are really pleasing, actually. The only issue I have with it is the giant chasm between the flippers! Some owners have put a post between them right over the Gottlieb logo. I chose not to do that yet on mine. One reason is that I could score over 1000pts on a 3 ball game too easily with the post in place (temporarily). In general, I found this machine to be MORE fun to play over time, rather than more boring the more I play it. I also like playing against other pinball players who aren't use the huge gap between the flippers - definite home advantage. I don't regret buying this game at all.

I just got one of these games and even though it needs some work - I LOVE IT! The whole concept of playing both pinball and 21 to beat the dealer is brilliant. For an EM game, this is the top. The graphics are also totally 60s cool.
