Listen very carefully..You must nudge. Forget trying to tame this beast with flippers. Without nudging this is basically a pachinko machine. Nudge well and prosper.

Yes, good fun, because all pinball is fun. :) Strikes me as a poor man's Centaur.

Can sometimes feel like a bit of a mess, but the playfield layout is so unique that it just stays interesting. It is so massive it feels like three pinball machines in one. Very addictive.

Playfield drops are great! Why aren't the GB ones as good?

I want to play more of this. I have never gotten deep enough into it. It seems a bit shallow on the rules, but boy, it's fun.

Very underrated. Not a theme for me, but lots of fun to play when I can drop some coin into it.

I will always play this game when I see it in the wild, but only once. I can never push the start button twice in a row. Don't know why.

This is the machine I seek out at shows. I log many, many games when I can find it. I wouldn't own it, but for its era, simply the best. Can be super fast, or you can pick off the shots.

Timeless, elegant, well rounded pinball at its 90s best. A sense of humour is everything. Showing its age in terms of code depth these days, but it is so well balanced and thought out that that hardly matters. And who wrings everything out of their super-deep coded machines anyway? :-)

Every time I walked past this at Expo I played it. Great fun!

Beautiful, but could do with a bit more to do. Love the sounds, design and gameplay.

Is this the ugliest great game, or the greatest ugly game? I love it! So much to do. It's so ugly it makes my eyes hurt.

When you want to bash it round fast, this is your game. Not the deepest of rules, but whatever you do, do it fast!

Great fun. It really is a game you can just walk up to time after time and have a blast.

Very underrated game. Ship is an amazing mech. Very well conceived in total. Can get a bit repetitive once you are familiar with it.

Love me some art deco! Lack of pops is a nice break. Ramp diverters are still a challenge for me to make the most out of. I want one!

Pretty fun game. Layout is different. You have to like the upper playfield.

Dazzlingly beautiful machine. Great sound design. Would love to see a makeover of the rules.

Lots to do and great fun. These days though, the rules are a bit shallow, so once you've done everything, then that's about it. Sure, it's hard to get everything done, but it is a bit "one damn thing after another".

This game gets such a bad rap. Not sure I'd own it, but man I like playing it when I find it. Great MB start! Worthy of being copied in Aerosmith!

Simply, pinball perfection. I sold this game once and I will NEVER make that mistake again. Far, far, far better than The Hobbit if you are looking for a Middle Earth fix.

One of the greatest machines when considering how well it achieves what it sets out to do. It is pretty much the same gameplay every time, but it does that type of game better than anything else. Brilliant in a medium to large collection! Sound is amazing.

Fast and fun! Takes a while to get used to the screen in the playfield, but once you do it is a great feature. Playfield is enormous and there is an amazing amount of shots. Build quality is first class.

Callouts for some reason stand out to me as a little underwhelming. Game of course is amazing. You can't have too many pops! Showing its age now codewise though.

Total miss on the theme. Upper playfield is a clunkfest. Pro is way better.

I am a sucker for in line drops. This machine is not a classic for nothing. Very challenging set of rules if done right. Order is everything.

Plays exactly the same as the original.

Beautiful! Love the playfield artwork. Code is fun but still feels a little incomplete, but that's not really going to kill it for most people. You DO have to like KISS music though. I changed all the music out.

This is the oldest machine I own. I tracked it down for a while and find it extremely addictive. Early example of LFS' code work and his future brilliance is there if you look for it. The new, better balanced scoring ROM is a nice upgrade.

Tightest ruleset there is. I prefer the original callouts to the VE. I have owned SM twice but have sold it again. I have always thought SM gained respect rather than love. Everyone seems to agree it's a great game. But, after a while, it becomes less fun. One of the best. You should experience owning it and really go after Super Hero. Can it keep you engaged forever? Not sure.

SUCH an underrated game. Put a Helen decal over Angus and fire away! I had the premium as well. Sold it and kept the Pro.

One of the best Stern Pros, along with Met and ST. What an amazing game. Brilliant theme integration and incredible gameplay that keeps you coming back for more.

Stern's BEST Pro model. I sold my LE I was so happy with the Pro.

Beautiful machine. Great code. Lots of fun. Theme is polarising, but the gameplay rises above that.

Lasted 10 days in my collection. What a let down. Yes, there are LOTS of rules, but very few of them interesting. They are just a list of different things to hit a different amount of times. Too multiball heavy and as great as the sound and vision are, that Smaug MB start gets oooooold. Very few shots and too far apart. Uninspired layout.

This machine is a giant killer! I put it in a death match, one on one, against a lot of my machines to decide what to sell. It beat WoZ, The Hobbit, GB Premium, AFM, SMVE. It is still here and one of my favourites. Yeah, some of the callouts are cheesy, but if that's the only thing that kills it for you, then you're not in it for the playing of the pinballs! Super layout, super shots, great variety in the rules. No two games are the same.

Could not get rid of this fast enough. Absolutely stunning to look at, but it's a sugar rush. Everything there to get you in but nothing to keep you. Why did I get the score I just got? I have no idea.

This is a fine, fine Stern Pro. The lack of walker bombs just makes you a better player, so when you hit the Premium/LE you can blow it up!

This could be Stern's finest modern title. Code is the BEST. There is nothing like Horde. Theme is a bit challenging for younger family members.

I owned this for a while, but could not get drawn to it. That's probably not a very helpful review, and I'm sure it's probably because I didn't explore it deeply enough, but it felt like do this, then do that, then do this again sort of progression. I guess a lot of pinball is like that, but I expected more engagement, and couldn't find it.

This is one of the four Stern pros I own. I am normally a Premium buyer, but ST Pro has it all! Not gimped at all and all the gameply of the Premium. Only missing cosmetics.
