After I had a few pins of my own, I picked up a nice Baseball for my mother who is a pin fan as well as a big baseball (Yankees) fan. She hadn't played a pin in years and really enjoys the game and the fact that it gives visitors something to do while over.

This isn't my favorite EM but it is fun. First off there are two ways to play, for score or for runs. We usually focus on runs while playing one after another. What you want to do is get the bases loaded and the bumpers lit so you can get some good scoring at the top of the field. What we end up doing is trying to slam the 2 vari-targets to clear the bases and more often than not having the ball bounce back through the tiny flippers.

Fun game, good sounds, and really nice looking playfield.

Added feature which I hadn't seen before is the interactive backglass, which mimics the players on the bases of the playfield. Really a neat feature and allows people casually observing to see something happening in the game.

Simple but fun, great competitive game when you have a few people over to see how many runs you can score before game over.

Based on my playing of Post Time, the Add-a-Ball version of same game:

After I had a few pins of my own, I picked up a beaten Post Time for my Father-in-Law who is a pin fan as well as a guy who liked to bet the horses. He isn't able to drive to the track anymore so this pin in his townhome is a great piece of entertainment for him.

I had to do substantial cleanup and fixes to the game, and in the end it's a fun player. You basically have 2 goals, light the bumpers to make the center target worth more points, and move the horses around the track. Both scores and races completed can award you extra balls. (Settings can be adjusted to Add a ball, which gives you another ball to the plunger, or Extended play, which kicks the ball out into the playfield after it drains)

I didn't expect much from this game, but it's run to play and a hit with the family. Cab artwork is "meh" (mine was actually worse, had to repaint, but doesn't give any indication of theme), the playfield and backglass feather the "pointy people" of the age, but it's passable. Sound is Williams bells which aren't as nice as the Gottlieb of the same timeframe.

Fun game, definitely getting a workout by my father-in-law, and enjoyed by everybody.

I've owned this game for a few years and wanted to have it for a while before rating it. This was actually my first pin purchased after I built a MAME machine and my wife then asked me "Hey, can you buy Pinball machines?"

This game gets a lot of flak, people don't like the offset flippers a little to the right, and the 2 outlanes to the left. I guess it's not the norm, and maybe it's because I've spent a lot of time with this machine, but it doesn't bother me at all. The plunger shot is actually a skill shot that if timed correctly will close one of those 2 outlanes. There are 2 flippers up top to rattle the ball around, but what you really want to do is get the ball into the upper left area and light the roll overs. Once you get enough of those you get an extra ball.

There is just 1 bumper, but it's right above the outlanes so whenever it's popping you're nervous. There's a spinning target that leads to a kick-out hole, a captive ball to bash, and Peter Gunn theme music. Difficulty can be upped so the kick-out hole only rewards you when there's a match. Each match also ups the scoring multiplier. What more could you want?

Biggest negative is that it doesn't feel like the video game of the same name, and in the end that probably annoys people. The Spy Hunter video game is great, and difficult to replicate in MAME. This pin is very different from the feel of that game other than the music, so it can feel a little like a bait and switch.

But standing alone, this is a fun game that can be tough but rewarding, and feels different from most other pins. I'm happy to have it in my collection!

Comments based on the 2-Player version "Jungle Princess":

I've owned this game for a few years now, and it was the first EM I played in a long time, so I wanted to wait a while before rating it. This is a fun game. Gameplay isn't difficult to grasp, you want to knock down the monkeys and hit the double-point lanes and kick-out holes for big numbers, but hard to pull off. So many balls end with 1 monkey to go or you just got the last monkey and then drain. Ugh! Game has a lot of pink but looks good, I really like the way the backglass looks and although there is a scantily clad female, she looks strong and in control. (I have little girls so this was a concern)

The 4 flippers are a nice touch and give you different parts of the playfield to target, and if you use them wrong you pay with a drain.

Overall a really fun game that is fast, has good replay ability, and those great sounding Gottlieb chimes!
