Just received this machine NIB last week and have put on about 115 games so far. I think this game is just awesome, granted I am still in the "Honeymoon phase".
It has taken a little bit of dialing in as most machines do but once it is, this machine shoots great! Its fast with fun shots that I havent really seen before. The right ramp shot is a lot of fun to make as it does an upside down 180 to come back to the flippers. Also, the ramps have a mirror finish to them and they just look awesome! There is a secret drop behind the Air Lock Screen. Speaking of this screen, it is super crisp and looks really nice. The Xenomorph shot has been flawless on my machine, so ive heard its due to a code update. Pop Bumpers needed a boost in power but they look really nice also and the game comes with 6 of them (3 open eggs, and 3 closed eggs), so thats nice to be able to customize. Spinners were annoying to dial in but work great once they are. Hypersleep lock is super fun, and its a hard shot. Music and sounds are very clear and sound good and are well integrated to make for a great theme. I did find the stock setting to be too bass heavy, but luckily there is a knob to control this under the monitor (PC Board). I have the LV version so it is lit up pretty well from the side blade lights and inserts. The inserts glow nicely and there is a setting in the machine to turn these up or down. They can get pretty bright if you prefer. Also, the targets are really cool as they light up and change colors depending on the shot you need to make.The playfield artwork is pretty good but im not totally blown away. It doesnt bother me as it works well to the darker theme of the game. I do wish that they made the Sentry Guns on the playfield look better, as they are just white, seems bland to me. The Cabinet artwork is just awesome looking. The translight is lackluster IMO, but luckily there are 3rd party options that are just fantastic!
As for playing the game, its just so much fun! I cannot stop playing this game. It just has an addictive nature and I keep going back for more. The rules are not super deep and that is something that I like as my other games are very deep, so this is refreshing. The LCD screen looks nice and its quite large. Its larger than Sterns but smaller than JJP. The video clips are really great and integrate with the game very well. Lots of clips and audio from both Alien and Aliens (sorry, no Ripley as they didnt get full license rights for production). At game start, you get to pick from Alien or Aliens to start with. Its a nice change up that gives for more replay-ability.
The machine comes with a purple powder-coating (looks blue in pictures). Its nice but would have preferred a pearlescent or sparkle to it as my other machines have, but thats just getting picky.
The playfield seems on par with any other Stern or JJP. No pooling or anything but its starting to show its dimples.. normal. The cabinet seems of very good quality. And its a wide body so thats a plus in my book. There are corner protectors in the game to prevent the cabinet from separating, nice to see. Under the hood, very impressive. Everything is extremely neat and tidy (something current manufacturers can take a note from), but wires can almost be too tight in areas. Also, I like how the playfield can sit upright without needing to hold it. Just allows for easier access to inside.
Im sure I am forgetting more but as you can see, I am a big fan. I was nervous purchasing from a new company, but that fear is gone after seeing the construction of everything. Also, Pinball Brothers has a warehouse now in the USA, so parts are easily available if needed. I have heard that customer service is fantastic as well.
Again, this game is just awesome! The theme is excellent, the lights, topper beacons, all just make this game amazing to watch and look at. The sound callouts really top the theme and make you feel like you really are in the military fighting against the Alien. Now I just want to go back home and play more!
