Twas a beat up STTNG in the lobby of my dorm, my freshman year in college. It stood next to a few other arcade games, mostly fighting and shooting games if memory serves. Something about this pin called to me. At the time I was not particularly in love, or even familiar, with the license. I had probably seen half a dozen episodes of the TV show.
For my first few months of school I'm sure I spent more time in front of the pin than in my classes. The sounds--particularly the speech, the dual cannon shots and the rule set kept me coming back each time. This was the first pin, and really one of the only, where I bothered to memorize most of the rules and developed scoring strategies.
I hope to have one in my collection some day.
