Stunningly beautiful, but shallow in the rules section make this a "been there, done that" pin for me. A machine for a larger collection. The problem for me is one rule gimmick, that has to do with the wishes. Once you make a wish and collect a jewel, you are closing in on the final battle too quick. Layout and playability are top notch.

Indeed the playfield is wide open, but the shot variation and the evolved use of the drop target function - in my opinion -makes up for that. The third flipper is useful and important in a number of situations.
The downside sesms the expectation/anticipation vs. reality some had to deal with.
For me this machine is a different approach to a table concept. And it payed off.

Great semi-three ramp layout with a motorized target bank and fast gameplay. Good ruleset with a hard to achieve wizard mode.

The build quality of this machine -especially regarding the fact, that it was the first of a new company - is outstanding. It has been said a couple of times already, but I cannot stress the fact enough that, when you step up to the machine, there really is a "world under glass" feeling. The layout to me is a good variation from the typical fan layout with enough variety and two upper playfields, that actually blend well into the theme and overall play. This is by no means a "two shot game". If you really think so, you miss out on the main parts. The game code is finished by now and has it all.
For me, this is a machine with high lastibility. Sound is amazing. A truly complete package.
What else can you wish for in our hobby :)

Somehow this seems to be one of the machines, that are hit or miss with the community and I can see why. The great anticipation vs. reality when it came out just ruined it for many people.
But I wish more people were willing to give it another chance, once the code was not the once pale bare bone anymore.
This game rocks! The variation of shots, multiballs and strategies it has to offer, really make it stand out in my opinion.
Look beyond the first code experience and the callouts (for those that get entangled with that) and you will have a blast!

This truly is an adventure! The atmosphere this game creates is simply outstanding. The shots feel variable, yet comprehensive a good to anticipate once a mode starts.
It just feels right and it took five years in my collection, before the spot was taken by another machine.
Not long ago, I decided to get another Indy, since the whole family missed the first one.

This pin for me is a mixed bag of emotions. Although I do love the theming since I love Metallica, the repetitive bashing of certain shots really feels like woodchopping after a while.
This fact breaks the table beyond being great, so it’s a really good pinballers choice, but there are better pins for the home collection.
Besides this, everything else has been commented several times.
