“9/7/2012 - Bought my first pinball machine today and, with the help of a friend from work, transported to my home via F-150 from a 16 mile distance. What a beautiful Eight Ball pin! Cost: $500.00. Needs TLC and some work because it's not playable, but all the glass, artwork and playfield look great with the exception of slight playfield paint wear. Lights are working, though there are eight burnt out bulbs on the playfield. Again, the game is not playing at all. Noticed one burnt out fuse, so I will begin with that. Ordered new kit of fuses from Marco ($24.95). Further troubleshooting may be required. Very clean game so I expect good things! In/out condition looks swell. 9/15/2012 - Recieved & installed new fuses. There were actually two burnt out fuses and one cracked one. Turned on machine and still no play. Logged on to Pinside to read threads to troubleshoot. A lot of great advice about pulling all circuit plugs and resetting. Noticed on the rectifier board assy the female 20 pin connecter was cracked right through the center, and there's evidence of overheat. Also noticed overheat burn marks on the 8 and 10 pin connectors as well. Reseated all and, what to ya know the machine came alive! (well, mostly). Flippers are flipping (intermittantly), chimes are chiming, self tests are running. Getting multiple solenoid fails to include the outhole kicker, and all bumper and slingshot fails are showing. There's also an outhole swich assembly self test fail. Before troubleshooting any further, I'm ordering a Connector Rebuild kit - Bally/Stern MPU ($24.95) from Marco and #44 Miniature Lamp replacement -10-pack ($3.00). Once all the plugs are fixed we'll see if I still receive these failures. Still, very cool to hear the 1977 Bally chimes and see the game come partially alive! For a first pin I've already had a lot of fun just troubleshooting this beauty.”
