I quite like this game of pinball!

I've been playing pinball since the late 70s. It was usually where the older, cool dudes hung out in the arcades near my home. It seemed like something that wasn't for me. A little out of my league. Most of my friends were drawn to the arcade cabinets, but I always drifted back to watch the older guys (probably teenagers, who seemed like 30 year olds to me) interact with those magical tables.

I bought my first machines (STTNG, and TZ) off EBay in the late 90s. It was the near death of the pinball industry, and the very early days of eBay. So the getting was good! Got a 3rd in around 2004 (LOTR), and the last year has been a little nuts... 6 more pins have joined the ranks.

I love to play with my boys who are 12 and 15. My wife has been crazy supportive of ths ridiculous hobby. I heard her say to a friend yesterday, "it's harmless... And it makes him REALLY happy!"

I love the community that Pinside has put me in touch with. I've received a tremendous amount of technical support here, and I've done my best to reciprocate when I can. There are some truly fantastic humans here. There's an awful lot of noise too... But hey, that's the internet. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both, and there you have The Facts of Life... Sorry, that's really bad 80s TV.

I live in Toronto, Canada, but I travel a LOT for work. I always try to find to coolest local pinball spot when I'm away from home. Some highlights have been Pinballz in Austin, Modern Pinball NYC, Pinball Wizard in Pelham, NH, 1Up inDenver, and The Targ in Ottawa. Not to mention Stu's place in Phoenix!
