I absolutely love this game. GNR was my jam growing up so I am a bit biased in that regard. Also, this is the first pin I have ever owned. Though I've played hundreds of hours of pinball at arcades, I don't have a history of extensive gameplay with any one particular title, until this one. And I think one really needs to spend some time with this pin to truly enjoy it.

At first, it's awesome (assuming the player has some passion for the subject matter). My review is based on the SE and I have no experience with the LE/CE. As everyone else has said, the lights, sounds, and theme are seamlessly integrated. Hitting your first songs and the live concert footage that goes along with them feels very rewarding. The songs are easy enough to get to so a beginner can enjoy them greatly. But it will take some mastery to properly finish one. Though there is definitely some confusion as to exactly what you are supposed to do and what shots you are supposed to hit. I can see how this could turn a player away within the first few to several hours of play. But stick with it because once you start peeling away some layers of this game's depth, you will not be able to get enough. I've got probably a couple hundred games on it now over the past month and I'm still learning more about the nuances of the ruleset. It is now even more fun than it was during those first couple games.

It can be brutal at times. I wish there were more in the way of kickouts because those side lanes can be a gamekiller. The soft skillshot plunge doesn't bother me as it rarely goes down the middle. The return from the center scoop is more frustrating to me as it has the occasional propensity to go SDTM, and by this time the ball-save has likely expired. This is one of the key shots and can be required dozens of times per game, so it doesn't take a high percentage of wasted returns from this shot to be frustrating. Once you understand the ruleset, there are a multitude of shots to hit from either flipper at any given time. I rather enjoy the various "mini-multiballs" as they can be well-used to reach your song level goals. Locking multiple balls makes for pure insanity during a song and will greatly help get you to the album modes or "mini-wizard modes".

Coming from a GNR fan, the best part to me is that my 10 and 9 year old kids love it. They have earned all the song titles and can sing along with a number of them. Please don't judge as I should probably put it on the kid-friendly mode....but I don't. The vulgarity of GNR is not as bad as much of the popular music today.

I am very much looking forward to getting my second pin, and just figured I'd swap out when this one became tiresome. At this point, I don't see that happening anytime soon. So I may end up just keeping this one and adding to the collection.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and couldn't have picked a better first pin in my opinion.
