Miy first pinball I built when I was 9 years old. It was a piece of chip board with nails sticking out of it, a bunch of rubber bands, 2 small bits of wood for flippers loosely screwed to the board, and a marble.
By using my Radio Shack 75 in 1 electronic project kit and covering the marble in foil, I was able to get a sound out of it when the ball joined contact points on the board, and my trainset transformer was used to set of a couple of lights,
In grade 6 I got into trouble because I was late for school, which I think was the Black Hole's fault although I could be wrong about which machine.
At age 44 I got my first, second and third machines. STTNG, TAF, and The Getaway and am currently pimping them and learning repairs. I have done flipper rebuilds and diagnosed and replaced some parts on the boards (with Pinside educators) and loving the learning.
Bally/Williams, Data East and Stern seem to be my favorites.
My next machine will be TOM. I also want to see WOZ in person.
