Playing pinball in my youth and today in my Antiques Store

Hello pinball lovers!!I am 48 years old and have had a long love of pinball machines. I was born in 1964 and when I was 7 or 8 years old my twin brother Harlan and I used to hang around my father's antiques shop and had chance to play with the many pinball machines by Gottlieb mostly and some early pinball machines from the 50s. My dad used to sell machines with single player for 100.00, 2 player for 150.00 and 3 and 4 player machines fro 300.00 They mostly had popup targets, bumpers that would ring lots of bells and rollover number counters. Not too exciting but hey it wasn't bad for a couple kids and friends to have a good time.I used to play a lot of pinball while working at the Hampton Beach Hillcrest Inn with the chambermaids while finished with work. The machines were waty more noisy and had multiball concept like Firepower and Black Knight. These machine were much faster than the old simpler games my dad sold and had digital LED scoring.I used to watch the chambermaids who weere pretty good and then I started playing a buit more competitively and realized I was quite the ace. I essentially got high score on all the machines I liekd to play. Now grown up, I but an occasional machine but I'm pretty picky on buying really excellent machines with cool effects. I bought Red & Ted's Road Show pinball machine which was a radically awesome machine.. When you finally fulfill all the road work and such to reach the top of the game you got to hear a full version of Carleen Carter Cash singing EVERY LITTLE THING and enjoy a damn high score sing to get to this point required a whole lot of ramps, scoring and mouth filling action....the 2 heads in the middle of the playing field provided targets in open mouths to get the big bonuses. Any a truly awesome game... as usual, once I "master" a machine I place it for sale and await a new machine to cross my path. I search when I'm in the mood and have an extra grand to buy a machine for a while keeping attention to the list of the 100 top pinball machines and trying to find a machine close to top of the list...like an Addams Family is a machine to find maybe next...I have recently bought a Dracula by Williams machine and I mastered that quite quickly and within a couple weeks had a score of 4,900,000...crazy scores compared the under 1000 high score machines of my life as a kid...where you'd rollover a machine at 1000.Pinball is fun and if I had the room and the extra cash, I'd buy 10 of the best movie pimballs I could find and store them in use on my third floor....maybe someday....Pinball away...Harvey WebberHampton, NH
