I got hooked on pinball when a co-worker hosted a "Survivor" style pinball party. He had ten machines. I went home, forever changed. Within that year, I had hunted down and bought STTNG, thereafter playing it every night. I bought CZ and TZ from the same guy. I hunted down a SG that had been HUO its whole life. The person selling it on e-bay was just up the street. I briefly had a FT, but sold it to my father-in-law the week of getting married. I've been a big fan ever since. In this day and age of everything on the internet, pinball machines are a thing of beauty AND entertainment.
