This our first pin ever, and working with John was truly an exceptional experience.» Read moreMy wife is pinball fan, and has waxed nostagic so many times over the years about the hours she spent after school playing Earthshaker, her favorite pin of all time to this day. For years I search for an arcade that had one she could just play again, then decided a couple years ago I should just find one to buy her.

I contacted John, explained that this was for my wife's upcoming milestone birthday, my journey to this point, etc, and he was quickly invested in making this as great of a present for her as possible. He talked me through worthwhile mods and ones to avoid, sourced me an invisiglas at cost, brought in a third party to do some cleanup/restoration, assured me he'd be available to assist after transaction with setup, troubleshooting, etc. I also added the Golden Gate bridge mod from @8bitrobo.

I was originally going to just have it shipped to me, but realized, 1. We had friends in the area who had been nagging us to visit, and, 2. My wife would appreciate meeting the guy who was so invested in helping make a milestone birthday special, so decide to turn it into a road trip and pick the pin up ourselves. So as we arrived, I intially convinced her that I'd merely tracked down an owner of an Earthshaker that was willing to let her come play it (and his other machines) for the afternoon, moments before we arrived at John's house. She was dizzy-giddy with the prospect, as this was first time she'd touched the machine in over 30 years.

After about 45 minutes of watching her happily bounce from machine to machine, already riding the high of a longtime wish had been fullfilled, I asked if she was ready to move on to the next surpise. After an entusastic "Yes!", I handed her the key to the coin box and wish her happy birthday.

I couldn't have asked for a better reaction—to quote John, "The way your wife reacted was priceless, qualifies for the pinball buyer's hall of fame.'
