In 1965 I entered a drugstore on Las Olas Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale Fl and 2 Pinball machines stood side by side. Oh the lights, the sounds, calling to me. I could never resist. Dropped in a dime or 3 for a quarter. I was hooked even before I pulled back that lever. What a thrill. I played as often as I could afford. Back then the match at the end of the game a ping pong ball shot on the face of the game to enter a slot numbered 00,10,20 etc. It would frequently get jammed and I could try to steer it to a free game. Man, those were the days.
Time flew by and I discovered missle command at the local bowling alley in Boca Raton Fl. I could not get enough. I was a terrible player...yet I continued to play. It became a destination for me and often upon arriving it was occupied with other gamers. I would just wait my turn and wait and wait. Around that time I discovered Sonic the hedgehog on SEGA. Great now I can have some speed at home. It was great.
Whenever I happened upon an arcade I always scoped out the single pinball game with the lame flipper the sound muted and the play slow...The pins were always neglected. No motovation for the owners to maintain the games for the consumer.
I have decided that now I must buy a Pin. While surfing the net I discovered this great site. Thank you very much. Lots of info. This site is helping me in my pursuit. No more looking for action for me. Soon I will have the action.
I am hoping to buy an EIGHT BALL or EIGHT BALL DELUXE as my 1st pin
Wish me luck, Goodfellow
