I have played pinball for a long time. I can remember playing some old EM's at the lake for a dime a game. It was really a big deal to win a game and make that dime last as long as we could.
While in college I discovered I had an ability to play pool. I spent many hours practicing and took breaks from the table by putting quarters in some of the pins at the pool hall. I ended up getting a job there and spent even later hours at the tables and the pins. We played both til the early morning hours.
After graduation, I went to work at a golf course and played pool in the off season. New pins to play new quarters to spend. I played IJ and AFM as my favorite games. I spent more time at the pool tables and golf course than I did at the pins. I saw less and less pins, but tried to play at least a little.
Having traveled the country playing pool and focusing on golf, playing pinball was not on my mind for a long time. I had an experience recently at a local retailor that sent me on a new course.
At the pool room in college we played EBD all the time, and while in this store, I saw another EBD. It brought me back to those nights at the pool room and how much I like to play pinball. I looked at the price and almost had a heart attack. I formulated a plan.
A friend of mine worked part time at this store and I asked him what type of price he could get me on this machine. He got two of his pin friends looking for a machine for me and the ball was in motion.
I ended up finding an EBD machine and is now in my basement by my pool table. I know it is lonely and I will have to find another pin to keep it company.
We have a few members at our golf course that have pins in there homes and have invited me to take a tour of the neighborhood and play their pins. Now we don't always talk golf, we talk pins!
