My family made constant trips up to Cape Cod every year, just for a weekend at the beach and enjoying all the seafood places. One year, my brother and I ventured into an arcade, and being the huge LOTR fans that we are, we both instantly spotted our first pinball machine, Stern's great Lord of the Rings. After reading these books and seeing the movie's, I was amazed to see that this machine captured the whole experience and then some. I was glued to the machine instead of the fun and sun of the beach. I longed to go back every year to play. One year, upon returning, the Balrog had become immobile, and the beautiful shine that I remembered so well had all but faded from the machine. The year after that, the machine was gone completely, replaced with a fancy big screen shoot-em-up game. I could go home and play my PS3 if I wanted that, but pinball was an experience no other form of entertainment could quite capture. Now, years later, my brother and I have worked hard and both got machines from our favorite licenses, his being the very same LOTR, and mine being Family Guy. Since I am still just 20 years old and in college, I am proud to have worked hard and earned one, as it makes me happy everyday. From now on, I am a die-hard pinballer, and hope to always be experiencing and (hopefully owning) many more pinball machines in the future!
