How I got interested in pinball.....

It all started as a child. My parents like to bowl and skate. Being a young kid who is too young to bowl I just wound up gravitating to the arcade games.

For some reason, the silver ball was just so fascinating. Don't get me wrong, I saw all the cornerstones of arcade games - Tempest, Asteroid, Berzerk.....they were all neat and stuff but the pinball held a special place with games.

Fast forward many, many years...

I hadn't played pinball or anything besides PS2 in YEARS.

My girlfriend's mom had a Bally Spy Hunter in her garage and offered it to me for the enjoyment.

I had never considered what went into a pinball machine before but being a licensed electrician, I saw the potential for a fun troubleshooting puzzle. A lifetime of skills including auto-body finish work, wood-working, electrical, art, and general mechanical knowledge all played into the successful complete dissassembly and restoration of this machine to full operation.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to post your questions and answers.

Based upon the accuracy of those discussions, I was able to completely restore the machine without posting a single question.

You folks are great!

Now, I'm looking for another project.......

You've created another pinball junkie. I can see it now........A machine in every spare space in the house. LOL!!! Maybe my own arcade so I can rotate machines out at the house like some of you all do.

Good story, pinball has been a passion I've never been capable of shaking off and hell, why would I, it's the greatest game in the world! Welcome to pinside.
