I did it! I finally went to my first pinball tournament! I usually haven't had the opportunity to attend an event yet. However finally things panned out to where I could go. It was hosted at The Flipper Room in Concord,CA. Such a great space and awesome games! I met so many nice people and heard a lot of great stories. I feel so glad that the pinball community is so supportive.

I had never played Centaur before, the only thing I know about that game is that some guy on YouTube made it a playable coffee table. So it was cool to win 1st place within my group on that machine. Otherwise I did alright, but glad that I tried.

One thing I found most players agreed on was that they didn't have enough real estate for all their pins haha.  I totally can see myself running into that problem later this year. For now I can maybe fit 3-4 more games... though I feel if the time comes I won't hesitate to sell some furniture to make room. I'm excited to attend my next event ☀️

That's so cool, congrats on your first tournament!

I went to my first as well a couple months ago. It was super casual, no entry fee, no games set to tournament mode, and extra balls were played. I liked the relaxed atmosphere, but their oldest game was Game of Thrones haha, so I want to find a place with a more interesting era-spanning collection. Still, it was fun, and I'm looking forward to going to more :-)

That’s so awesome! I used to live near Santa Cruz and would commute to Sunnyvale for years! I now live in rural North Carolina, and would like to host a tournament myself. I am slowly expanding my collection. Any pointers and tips in running a tournament?
