“I installed new rubbers for most of this machine in 2008, except for the mushroom bumpers. This machine is notorious for being difficult to play, and that's why I picked it out. I originally won a bastardized (read, EASY!!!) version of Big Ben at a bar, but I had my eye set on Expressway as a trade. Currently the right kickout hole to collect mileage tends to send the ball between the flippers. So I've reset score goals for a free ball to 18K, 40K, 62K, 84K, and that includes scores with 100K points more. There's probably a few things wrong with this machine, like the balls to play lights not lighting up as they are supposed to, or trying to add 5 credits with the coin slot, or the bells not working correctly. This machine was very old when I got it, and now it's several more times older.”
“I changed almost all of the rubbers in 2008, they hadn't been changed since the 1970's. The flippers are held together with twisties since a C-clamp is so difficult to install. The backglass is shedding a bit of paint from age. The metal legs probably should be replaced, they're getting old & rusty. This is one of the first machines I played in early 1971-72, & 1974 in a local pizza place. It's my favorite. This game is NOT to be confused with Royal Guard which is a completely different game for other states that don't do add-a-ball.”
