I'm sure that many "Pinsiders" have stories on keeping their machines in good working order and the trials and tribulations resulting from that. I have to say that I've had plenty of both (the T & T that is) with my Striker Extreme over the past 5 years. I found it on the Pinball Classifieds web site being offered by an owner only about 4 hours away, which was an extremely rare occurence as I live on the West Coast in Canada and let me tell you that Man, there ain't nothin' in these here parts in the way of pinball machines for sale. So naturally I drove the 4 hours and laid down my bucks for a tired and well played Stern Striker Extreme in fair working condition. I put in about 40 hours of labour to get it into reasonably good working condition followed by some parts and additional tuning which finally produced a decent pin that is fun and challenging to play.
Over the years this game has introduced and re-introduced many of my friends and neighbours into the joys of pinball and left some of them with a desire to own their own pin. All the hours that I put into keeping it working well have provided not only me with joy and inspiration but also my friends as the common question to an invite to my home is "Can we play some pinball too!"
All I can say is thank you Mr. Stern for keeping pinball alive when most everyone else had given up on it. How I love to play that silver ball !
