I find this add a ball version to easy to beat. The challenge is simply not here when you compare it to El Dorado. I prefer El Dorado. As a result I can see gold strike becoming very stale in a medium to larger collection. I still like the game, it is above average. Amazing artwork. It's not as challenging as many other great e.m's, therfore it gets boringbifvit cannot stimulate that part of the mind

Played a nice sample of this game. Fast peppy player, the 2 spinners are fun to hit, and increase advance bonus for a potentially larger score payout. I personally got close to 800,000 on my first ever play. For a really good pinball player I can see this being easy game to beat, keep shooting for spinners, build bonus, shoot for bonus payout, repeat!!! So I can see it becoming very repetitive really quick for a seasoned player. For me art work and theme works, I had fun I would grade above average pinball game.

I only played two games without the plunger shot, this and Big hit. Great theme, art work and backglass. Nice rules Aswell just like regular American football, but I'm not a fan of the annoying quad flippers, Harlem Globetrotters has the same annoying flipper set up. I like the dual scoring system to win replays, but something in the fun factor is missing in this pinball. This past week there was one available close to me at a cheap price and I let it go and paid more to buy a big hit instead. The lone spinner is cool but it seems like as you try all the other shots, it might be the type of game where you Solely go for the spinner and keep doing so to bring up your run count and replays, also builds up the bonus system faster if you go for spinners. It's kind of one sided that way, which is too bad because there's alot to shot for and more challenging shots which don't reap the rewards as the easier spinner shot? Upper rollovers are hard to achieve as well due to alot of things in the way, so let's call it a fluke shot. For me, a mediocre game,/average at best. I tried to like it.

I played a very nice tuned example in New Jersey a few weeks ago, and wow is it a fun player. I do like the wider playfied, missing the plunge shot doesn't bother me at all since 99.8% of pinball games have one, so there!!! Not to many games have the big flippers on top, El Dorado for example are your standard 2" flippers. Ok I read how some pinsiders don't like how the drops reset after each ball? well I think the Gottlieb staff nailed it right on to do so...it's a player friendly game, and with the bigger flipper paddles on top you should be able to hit most of the drops on every ball, so by resetting after every ball is a brilliant way to make Big hit a challenge. I also like how the pop bumpers could be in the way of the vari targets, once again making it a challenger and risk/reward shot. But if you do go for the big smack on the vari target and manage to pin it all the way for the homerun and 5000pts, it's always a tough task, rewarding but also feels nice!!! Great colours, nice cabinet art, cool backglass. I also like the two scoring rule set, a good way to win replays and hearing the knocker go nuts. By hitting down all the drop targets it does lite up the special at the top corner rollovers, to me those are the hardest ones to hit, so for me a real skill shot with awesome reward if you make it. I recently just bought one this week. I changed all the rubber bands, gave it a nice tune up, adjusted contact blades accordingly and rebuilt the flippers. Yes for me it's so much fun. My only complaint about this version is, I find it a bit to easy, I bought it, and the transformer is on high tap, so I will put it on regular tap this week. The flippers are a bit to powerful on high tap also making it alot less challenging. The version I played in New Jersey is Vic Camps! So, yes the game was perfectly tuned. His was on regular tap, and this game will also be on regular tap.in the near future.

Finally got to play incredible example of North star this past weekend Dec15 2023. The example I played was in such incredible condition, it was Vic Camp's North star so it was in absolute pristine conditioning meaning zero playfield wear, perfect inserts, all 5 pop bumpers were sensitive and snappy, so great ball action, also new rubbers and maintained like it was new. Game has a very interested rule set to win multiple replays, if you are a good pinball guy who likes replay games, this is a must try. For my self I found this game incredible challenging. I pressed coin door button numerous times but was unsuccessful in achieving a real lucrative high score worth bragging about. I don't play much 2" flipper games, but with time, I will get better. Such a fun game, great artwork and such a hard game to find. I got real lucky in finding such a great example to play. My only complaint would be.....Gottlieb should of enhanced the noise of scoring with another bell, to give this game a bit more vibe. It would of been more complete with just a tad more jingle.

Finally got to play a perfect example and well tuned King of Diamonds this past weekend Dec 15/2023. The machine I played on was such a great original example courtesy of Vic Camps love of pinball and impeccable maintenance schedule. Game was challenging, roto target in front of flippers is a neat feature, Espicially if you are stuck trying to hit a # on the rollovers that you just cannot get? The roto target is a neat saving grace if your # is exposed on the roto. Beware though
It can also drain the ball down the nasty flipper gap if you are not careful. Love the animated backglass. Great artwork. This game is fun.

Simple game yet fun, better than average. Game needs new rubbers, sensitive slings & pop bumpers to make it come alive. Or else it's a bore fest. Another factor than can effect negative game play is the 15 colored inserts in front of the flippers, if the inserts are not level, it will cause weird ball movement & make the game suck. There's 15 inserts get my point. Getting #8(middle rollover) is a decent plunge skill shot & rewarding. Not sure how or if it's possible to hit the saucer with flippers? Or is it there for fluke luck? Regardless still a nice decent add a ball game.

Finally got to play a nice tuned version of this game. At first glance it looks very easy to beat, even with 2" flippers, it's actually hard, quite fun and frustrating. It's above average game, not sure if it will go stale in a collection, reason being it's drop targets a few rollover and for that reason there many other gottliebs to choose from with those same features. Nothing really does stand out in the gameplay aspects, so there's plenty of competition! This game has absolutely deadly outlanes. I couldn't save the ball at all, lol... I didn't beat the game, outlanes are truly deadly and the tilt was a bit more sensitive but still nudgeable. It has a nice simple layout, and the rule set and theme works well. I would play again if I see it around but not sure if I would buy for a collection as stated above. Regardless it's still a fun 2" pinball game

Finally got to play a fine sample of Capt. Card, so its time for a review. I played this almost as much as Rock Star this past weekend Nov24 2003 at Ann Arbor pinball hall of fame! Such a fun player and amazing rule set, I found it quite challenging, the upper left and Upper Right bank targets seems to always have 1 or 2 drops that still stand, so yes skill shot required. Nice rule set, I would consider buying one if the price and machine feels right.

I find this pinball has the same flaws similar to 2001 and why im giving this a lower score. It could of been such a fun pinball but because the center playfield has a chunky bank of stand up targets, the only way to hit the upper stand up targets is by a lucky sling or pop bumper bounce. It suffers the same fatt as 2001 by not much skill shots, more sheer luck. The chunky center bank of stand up.targets does serve a purpose and part of what could of been amazing rule set, but it's in the way. The rule set is good though

Finally got to play a nice sample of 2001 at Ann Arbor hall of fame. Art work and theme works well. This sample was well tuned. 20 incredible drop targets. My only complaint is, that the upper drops cannot be hit with flippers, you cant really access them by skill shot, you need a lucky sling or pop bumper bounce to knock them down. The center bank of stand up targets in my opinion is too chunky and in the way. Its the reason why I gave this pinball a lower grade, the rule set is amazing. I just don't think it would last in a collection of myn. It's to bad, I guess

Second time playing this machine, first time at Chicago fest a few weeks ago and this weekend Nov24, 2023. The art package is really nice. I really enjoyed playing this add a ball machine, center roto target was neat, rollovers were fun, there was a few I believe can only be hit by sheer luck with a pop bumper bounce, or by fluke. I really enjoyed playing this game, my only complaint was, I found this game too easy, and I kind of suck at pinball. I need to try king of diamonds to see if this add a ball really isn't that challenging. Still had fun with it

Finally tried Rock star out this Friday November 24 2023 at the Ann Arbor Michigan hall of fame, and a nice example. It was my favorite pinball at the show. The chimes and bell was music to my ears. I enjoyed the art work as well. Game play was incredible, the plastic spinners feel funny and cheap(the metal ones is the way to go) I'm not typically a stand up target kind of guy but it does work well on this machine. I would be intrested in adding a Rock star to my own place. Really like the free ball aspect to this game and lighting up the 100,000 point light. Such a wonderful pinball

Williams Heat wave was way ahead of its time, including neat animated backglass temperature thermometer that actually functions and make the game more appealing.... I myself am a big fan of Gottlieb e.m games, but this being a Williams, I'm impressed and right up there with any great gottlieb's of that era if not one of the tops.. I believe Williams had the DC flippers? Very strong responsive flippers for sure. Playfield and backglass art go together and truly a classic. Cabinet art is simple, dull and boring so it scored lower on the report card. Game play is extremely fun, the flipper gap is not as "gappy" as typical 2" flippers of that era, neat idea with that flipper gap saver, so with that, and if you are a good nudger, it won't be a drain monster at all. Moving targets is amazing feature and even more so because it was made in 1964. Game rules start of easy but as you are progressing deeper into rule set, it becomes harder and harder to achieve success, since the more you complete tasks, (usually the easier lit inserts) the more the game takes away(next set of easier inserts) making it totally challenging to achieve blowing the heat wave ribbon to the top!!! So good luck to all!!

I like this game even though it's a 2" flipper game from the 60s. Game lighting is pretty even throughout the playfield.

I updated my rating on Jan28 2024. I still think the cabinet art could of been better, but other than that it's a true keeper. Making its way to my personal favorite! I upgraded heat waves backglass rating, the more I see it, the more I appreciate. The bright sunny colors put a smile on my face, even on the most rainy overcast days.

This review is based on aab mode and 5 ball setting. Machine is clean, waxed, fresh rubbers, sensitive pop bumpers like mouse traps, and slings aswell and I'm guessing 4.5 degree slope for zippy play. Oh yes nice flippers, no juiced up coils, everything clean and properly maintained....

What a fun and incredible pinball this Team One is.
I absolutely think it's making its way to the top of my list.
Alot of pinsiders complain about the art and theme package. Me personally, I love it!!! I like the soccer theme, not many soccer theme pinballs around, even more so during the 70's e.m era. The backglass is funny, there's a soccer player that looks like Jay Leno. Backglass theme seems to be a pre-game workout stretch before opening whistle. I like lighting up the red flags to indicate extra ball rewards. Make sure you install the brightest red bulbs in the backglass right where those aab flags are.
Gottlieb chimes are always a blast, Espicially when they are tuned.
Cabinet art works
Game play varies from machine to machine depending on maintenance, if it's properly maintained with fresh bands and nice flippers and sensitive pops and slings this game will keep you pushing that big red button

Amazing game

I really have big fun on this game.
Only problem, it's harder then most games to get ball up to the top of playfield, only real chance is to rip it through spinner gate, located right up the middle. A few nice skill shots, great fun player

Vulcan is a fun multiplayer
Everything is placed on the playfield correctly.
Easy to get the ball right back to the upper playfield, good equal playfield distribution. Fun game rules, only complaint was the artwork and colour design didn't grab my attention. Fun game.

Also grading quickdraw since it's identical to fast draw ... I graded the backglass in quickdraw slightly better because you can see more of it in the 2 player version vs 4 player fast draw variation. Thus a slightly better grade overall.
Been playing a nice tuned fast draw so I'm ready to report....

I like it !
Fun!
Noisy!
Can't stop pushing credit button!!!
I'm pretty sure the example I'm playing is hi-tapped in which I don't agree with but as snappy as it is, very fun game!!! Great rule set, good strong command of the playfield with this design. I recommend giving it a try

Such a fun game, nice rule set. Not the easiest game to beat, frusterating at times! Initial plunger shot is actually a skill shot, if you don't master it, you will only hit the pop bumper and a wasted plunge. There is potentially 3 rollovers that could be hit off the plunger, pretty lucrative to do so!!! Looks easy to beat but it's certainly not. Bank targets has a great feature that you can still accumulate points long after the target is down(pretty nice) Great game, I would of given a better grade but art package is pretty average!

Amazing artwork package! Love the mix of chimes and the big bell, lovely!!! But this game lacks something? After you hit all the targets the game is pretty much over. It's nice to hit the targets when they are lit up to maximize points, but obviously that's not the case, with pop bumpers & stuff, the ball will find it's way through the targets(lit or not). Once you hit the target, the second time around adds almost no reward. A few good skill shots though!!!Not a fan of plastic spinners (feels cheap) maybe I need more playtime? But I'm not totally impressed with this pinball. I will give this pin a few more tries but usually for me, if it's mediocre from the start, it's usually mediocre! I give this pin 7* out of 10*. Art package and the big bell is a big reason why it's 7* and not 6*

***Update Sept2022 ****
I got to play a fine example of Golden arrow with new rubber bands, rebuilt flippers, snappy pop bumpers, waxed and even playfield, and to be honest I really enjoyed it. You definitely need to be good at aim and shoot or you need to hit spinners and or rollover so you can set the bonus shot at your competitive angle :0)
Neat game afterall

What a fun game!!! Super Spin is absolutely infested with fun goodies, I like the roto target :0). Great theme, classic gottlieb chimes, nice scoring strategy. What's not to like? If machine is well tuned, with new elastic bands, waxed playfield it will impress most pinballers. My only complaint is they could of incorporated a bell with the chimes if you hit one of the many toy features correctly. Also could of used a lightbulb or 2? Near the bottom of the playfield for cosmetics? This pinball is a blast.

Such a wonderful playing game, I like to add one but it's pretty pricey :0(. I can play this game over & over, dosent get boring. I never tried it's add a ball clone Lucky hand, but I might consider one, if it's great shape. Would of been nice if they added a bell with the chimes, I find at times it's pretty quiet, a bell would of been a great feature to look forward to. One thing that might not flow well with some, is the top rollover is best to hit 3/4 to maximize drop target points(4000) when you hit them. If you hit the forth it resets to minimum point structure for the drop targets(1000) but advances the series, and rollovers sequence starts all over again we're lite ones are worth (5000) vs unlite at (500). I don't have a problem with it but some people might not like that rule. I think they should of added more points if you hit the 4th rollover, and possibly a big bell noise. Great game, I would of rated this game higher, if it wasn't for that void of noise at times when it can get quiet, art work isnt as spectacular like centigrade 37, as most card theme games kind of look the same, but the backglass is the exception, great artwork on the glass. This game is right up there with volley, c37, atlantis, sky jump, etc so much fun!!! I updated my rating feb10 2022 since I have been playing it alot more now, because I added to my collection. Overall it's a top tier pinball machine. Right up there with centigrade37, Atlantis, Sky jump, volley, super spin, etc... Outstanding rule set, no wonder they made S.S version of it.... I would give it a higher rating but playfield art is pretty simple, but nice and appealing

What a wonderful game, like how you have to work at building up your special bonus feature. Like how the drop target special bonus creeps up from 1000pts to 5000pts in 1000pt increments as your complete 1-4 rollovers or you knock down all the drop targets and hit center bullseye to creep up the bonus. I must say hard to get the 5000pts bonus. Once your value added bonus builds it's challenging to hit the lit drop target to score the value bonus, alot of times you miss it and settle for the typical 500point per drop target. Playfield art is colorful and pops, backglass stands out aswell. This pinball should also be on everyone's top 5. A great example of e.m of the 70s.

Chimes sounds on this pin are mediocre. Gottlieb s chimes are better by far, but then again I never got to clobber 100,000pts on it to hear the big buzzer. I find this to be a fun exciting game. Art work is great but I think it's a little rich on the pink tones on the playfield, maybe it would look better with coloured led lighting in strategic areas of the playfield. I almost bought this pin but I thought he wanted a bit to much so.i passed it up. Old Chicago can be a real drainer at times, sometimes 3 or 4 lousy games in a row followed by a real good one. Pretty challenging , it keeps me coming back to hit to try for 100,000 points which I keep failing

I really like this game, very underated. It has a bit of everything including drop targets, spinner, plunger. Very nice rule set, fun to play, great pin for tournaments. Hard to spell m*a*g*I*c to grab more bonus points but the makes it fun and a challenge. The backglass are is so/so and the audio is mediocre but the game play is alot of fun, challenging and fast

Backglass is really nice. Its average game in my opinion, center drop target can drain you. It can get boring after a while, but it does have the power to get you interest from time to time. Maybe this pin should be pitched on a more aggressive slope to speed up the game play? I never had the opportunity to change the slope because the sample I play on is not my and the owner is set in his ways. But Im curious if the game play will be better with one 1°- 1.5° in slope change to the aggressive side

What can I say??? This game is fun!!! Never gets old. I scored 199,980 points in a tournament, I almost flipped it twice :0( missed it by 20points !!! This pinball should be on everyone's top 5. Love the temperature ribbon in the animated backglass. I can spend hours on this pinball. I finally got one, april2021!!! have been playing for past month. I updated my rating. Such a wonderful game and so much fun. I would of been even more better if the stand-up targets would of been re-setting drop targets. Art work is absolutely stunning. Playfield is bulletproof and dosent wear. Chimes are not to bad, but I still think Gottliebs are better. Gameplay on this Zaccaria keeps you coming for more. Aim for the advance light targets to increase bonus score. Such a fun game, hard to find. It's one of the better E.M games out there. Colourful led bulbs would put the icing on the cake on this pin. Add a ball feature fits this pin right

It's just not my style. If you want to rack up the real point you have to really keep aiming for the ramp, that's it!!! Gets stupid after a while. It has drop targets and stuff but there's no point because the points are all in the ramp....graphics and artwork is amazing, talking robot voice was state of the art in 1980 and still a classic in 2020. I find this pin boring because of the point scoring system being to one sided

Basic rule set but very fun & addicting to play. Challenging as well since you need to work to get 5000pt drop targets or else you only get 500. I like the art work and backglass even though im not an avid tennis player. The machine I play on has coloured led lighting so.it makes the game stand out. Hard game to flip over 100,000points, I did it a few times, pretty challenging. I love the classic chimes. I prefer this game over el-dorado since they are both drop target based pins, but I find volley more enjoyable to play and it's rule set. I would deffently consider one you find a decent one! I just adjusted my grade on volley, August 20 2020, reason being the more I play this pin, the better and more fun it gets, this pin gets alot of playtime, just scored 198500points. This pinball is so undervalued and certainly doesn't get the respect it should

I think it's a fun game for the family, it's a four player and yes it's a great tournament pinball and more fun with 4 players. Artwork fits the theme well. Pretty hard to get ball through the spinners because of bulky posts, so it makes the game more interesting and challenging ...animated backglass is awesome, I like the extra point score animation on the back glass , great unique feature. I like this pin, it's chimes, art package and game play

Not to sure what all the fuss is about on this game. They made about 2900 of these but there is such a strong demand for it? It's a decent game, love the chimes, art work is nice. It does get boring after a while shooting down drop targets, if your not good at aiming :0( Upper mini flippers is a nice twist but they too have a very limited play action & once certain targets are down they are useless. I find with more play it's always the same last few targets your trying to clobber. I think that why this can get stale after a while, unless your aim to target gets better, the 5000point target light theme is nice

***update March 20 2022***
I have been playing a better version of this game that's more responsive and in better shape than my last rating 2 yrs ago with a machine that was sluggish. El Dorado if maintained properly is a fun game and a keeper in my opinion. I look forward adding one to my collection one day, but it's pretty pricey for e.m. it's becomes real fun when you knock down all the targets and when they reset, the lite spot transfer to free replays :0) make sure all the bulbs work and you can aim correctly to change the lite spot via star rollover near center of playfield, or stand up target by pop bumper, and then hit the lite spot. Fun game, if rubber bands are new, nice wax, clean coil sleeves. The machine I have been playing on is $1play(yikes) so free replays is the goal. Most I have gotten so far is 3

Not sure why this pin is rated so low? It's fun, challenging, and you have to really think & aim your shots if you want to maximize your score. I love chimes, thus my perfect rating. This is deffently in my top 5 E.M pinball. Another plus side is they made 4200 of these so the purchase price is more down to earth for now. I spend hours on this one. Pretty challenging to advance all 7 spots & I like how the point Talley system+possible of double bonus of up to 500points work with drop targets. Such a great game

This E.M pinball should be on everyone's top 5, amazing rule set, nice artwork package. Fun + addicting. You can literally spend hours on this game and come back for more the next day!!! Kind of pricey but then again it's because of the strong demand that this pinball generates. Chimes are amazing, love hearing the special chimes scoring the 5000 bonus when you drop 2 targets at the same time or you score the 3000point advance bonus... Such a great game
