Picked this up on Craigslist for cheap and an opportunity to do some refurbish-repair work before turning it over. Beyond learning some EM logic I was pleasantly surprised how fun the game was to play.

Providing two ways to "score" gives a unique diversity in objectives for an EM game. Of the various pinball baseball games I've played (3) I enjoyed this version the best. I recognize having bought it and working on it may effect my perspective, I still believe no matter the player will enjoy the game and its worth playing if you come across it.

I like Big Hit, but World Series blows Big Hit out of the water.

I played World Series extensively at Allentown 2018, and I really, really enjoyed the game. I far perfer AAB games over the Replay cousins, so maybe that's why World Series stood out even having played the replay version Grand Slam a few times over the years. The kickout hole "bases" work way better here than the rollovers on Big Hit. Like most Gottlieb ball games, you can play for score or for runs, which adds another dimension to gameplay--two high scores to chase! While Big Hit's between-flipper ball launch is unique, I still perfer a plunge, which World Series provides. I'm not a big fan of roto targets (see my other reviews, I hate them) but it works well here, as the kickout holes, pops and targets compliment it, rather than it being the one-trick-pony that it is on other games. Big Hit may take the cake on the art package, as World Series' art is just OK. That said, the psychadelic hypno-art package that blends the design on the backglass with the paint on the wedged backbox wood is stellar, and should have been emplotyed more by Gottlieb.

This is a game I'll look to add to my collection in the future. Great sports theme, and interesting gameplay.

One of my family's favorite games. The first pinball game to really grab my 11 year olds attention!

Short:
At first glance, it doesn't look like their is much going on here. The game is pretty fun, though.

Long:
Baseball is a great pinball theme, and Gottlieb World Series nails it.
Put men on base hitting singles, doubles and triples, and then drive them in with the long ball! AAB for hitting scoring levels or run totals gives you something to shoot for.

You've got two ways to play this game. Go for score, or go for runs. I'm finding the most fun going for run total.

Lots of sounds here. Knocker, three chimes, and a 5" bell for runs.

Bad stuff:
The roto target is obstructed by the 2nd base kickout. It tough to sneak a ball up there to hit the targets.
Passive slingshots.
That back box paint!
The GI is all to the outside. Dark middle of the playfield.

This game is easily the best baseball themed machine I have played. I love 70s EM machines. I love the double scoring of the runs and points. The World series is much better to own in my opinion than the grand slam due to the add-a-ball feature. You always have something to shoot for.

Good game often overlooked. Bell announces runs scored as well as chimes and knocker on AABs.

World Series is yet another great wedehead baseball themed pinball game from Master K.

The Pros:
Saucers all over the PF keep things random and interesting. Good shots to the top of the PF to the roto-target (gotta sneak past those saucers though). A suprisingly sparse PF that has more to do on it than originally meets the eye. Two types of scoring (points/runs) gives you the option of playing the same game more than one way. The artwork on the PF is humorous and light-hearted. Gordon Morrison's work is perfect for this deck.

The Cons:
Is it just me or does the BG/wedgehead make this game look like an acid trip?

The Takeaway:
A great baseball themed pinball game. Git'Sum!
