Trivia

  • Planned for home release in December 2003, Vacation America is an offering from Churchill, under the name, Chicago Gaming Co. The game is planned for the home market exclusively.
  • The pinball, despite having a fairly plain playfield, has a couple of notable operating features:
  • The backglass does not have an integrated dot matrix display, as have most games produced since 1990. Instead it has two rows of ten 7-segment displays stacked on top of each other. Therefore, graphics are not displayed to the player, although the cities on the backglass can be lit.
  • The rollover lanes do not use microswitches, but instead employ infrared LED beams (lasers or 'electric eyes') to detect a moving ball.
  • Interestingly, Churchill chose to use a mixture of real, and non-real U.S. cities: The places the player must visit are: New York, Philadelphia, Cape Canaveral, Everglades, Myrtle Beach, Washington DC, Niagra Falls, Fort Knox, Detroit, Indianapolis, Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis, Chicago, Hot Springs, San Antonio, Roswell, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, Estes Park, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Yosemite and Hollywood
