Owned TZ for several years. Another PL pin that is too heavily designed around ramps. I found it became too easy to LITZ as the ramps set up door awards too easily. Avoid the left pops and the game is easily bearable. All that being said it is a classic and in a larger collection than mine would probably have longer legs.

One of pinball's highest achievements. Can be overwhelming for beginners, and I'm assuming pretty high maintenance for owners, but it's a small price to pay for being the best.

I had owned this game and would like to own it again some day. Great rule set litz is a blast. It has a good balance of ball stop and flow. Really at the pinicale of pinball design and spend from a manufacture point of view. I could only imagine what could be produced with todays technology with yesterdays (1993) R&D budgets.

TZ is an excellent pinball machine. It would make a good first pin (or second...). The pros are playability, lots of toys, and maintainability. TZ has more than its fair share of toys in the form of a mini playfield, magnets, a clock, and the gumball machine. Parts are readily available including replacement circuit boards if necessary. With these toys there is a price to pay. They do fail and require upkeep and maintenance. You can go to the Pinball Hall of Fame website and order the "Lost in the Zone" video (TOP #3) which is two plus hours of doing most of the tasks required to repair or restore you machine. TZ is famous for clock broken error message because it runs hot and optos fail. Secondly, game reset issues. Both problems are well documented at all the pin repair sites. Despite the complexity of the toys, the playfield is not complicated to tear down and reassemble. TZ is my absolute favorite machine followed by Indiana Jones. 1993 was an awesome year for pinball thanks to the likes of Pat Lawlor, Mark Ritchie, and John Youssi.

The more I play TZ, the more I love it. You dont have to know the game rules to enjoy it, so it appeals to the non pinball people that you may have over. At the same time, it keeps even the pro pinball player content because of its deep rules. Every time I play TZ, I learn some thing new. The playfield is packed with all sorts of shots but at the same time has good ball movement and dont seem cluttered. It also has a 6 ball multi ball! Tough to get because I have only played 6 ball once, but it was wild and diffrent.

The Deepest most complete pinball machine the vast majority of us will ever play...

I don't see how you could outgrow it... I've had one for 10 years, and I've barely scratched the surface...

It's Twilight Zone, it could suck and it'd still be awesome..

After seeing everywhere that this was one of the top games of all time I just had to try. Game just didn't grab me. I played it a few more times... Still just didn't like it. The gumball and powerball was pretty cool though. Though I would try it again but still a slow boring game to me.

TZ - tough to add anything here. Beautiful game, tough long shots. I still get surprised here and there as I discover more stuff about (owned it about 6 months now). Easy and fun to mod up. But you better be handy with keeping it tuned/tweeked to make it play right.

New players dont like it as much, it can frustrate them.

It will remain part of my permanent collection!

This one is my nemesis. Just brutal. I have played about 10 games on this one. It is difficult. Most of these games were pretty quick. Someday I will buy one and take the time to master it. STTNG is the top for me but this one does come pretty close. Some of the gimmicks in this machine were pretty revolutionary. I just am not able to get to them. I like watching this one be played by a skilled player.

Twilight zone. I grew up in and around Syracuse, NY. What else can I say... Rod Serling is the MAN! Playing this table and witnessing what Pat Lawlor, John Youssi, Larry DeMar and everyone who was involved with this game did... Thank you for doing this fantastic theme justice.

Pros: Just the amount of research that went into this game is stunning. The entire team threw themselves at this design and it shows. The integration of the episodes into this table is staggering, not to mention the BG. The gameplay is fantastic. The scoring is balanced between modes, gumball and multiballs. Watch the TV series and then play the game. Little details sneak up on you and become jewels of amazement. You can play this game 3-4 different ways and still come up with amazing scores! Lost in the zone lives up to it's name. Scoring a jackpot is always thrilling, regardless of what mode you are in. Lost in the Zone is the wizard mode that all others are compared to. This game plays so well... it's hard to believe that human beings are capable of such achievement.

Cons: The rocket, leads to the bumpers, leads to the left outlane, ugh... this makes the skillshot something to avoid at all costs. There are many things to make this table not operate as it should. The gumball machine, proximity sensors and the mechanical ball dropper seem to be common issues with this table. If the tech and mechs are not working on the game, playing it can be frustrating... because you KNOW what the game should play like. The Ops hated to maintain this table for obvious reasons.

Takeaway: This game may be the epitome of pinball as we know it. Whatever flaws are in the game, they are insignificant to the brilliance of the execution of the theme and design. Fortunately, they made over 15,000 of these games. I am still amazed that this game is 20 years old and nothing has come close to it since.

A DAMN FINE PINBALL GAME!

It was our first machine and its lastbility is great. It's a bit expensive, but worth it.

When breaking down the key factors of what makes a pinball machine great, this is certainly one of the best.

A great set of rules, some of the best toys, cool music... Really just about everything! It's a complete package! Probably the only thing I can think of that would shy people away from this game is the stop and go game play similar to The Simpsons Pinball Party (which I don't mind).

Perhaps Lawlor's opus.. Fun game working for LITZ is challenging and when achieved quite rewarding. Forces the player to make shots not just flail at the ball.

The instant I played it, the machine just seemed better than anything else in the past. I know exactly what I need to do at any one time. Lots of variation. Lots of interesting shots. My favourite pinball ever!

As old as this game is and as long as I have owned it, I still enjoy it very much. Still able to compete with the fantastic newer games with me. On the other hand, it is a long game and I think to really enjoy its complexity, you really need to own one for a while. Only game I rate as a 10/10. If you think how old the game is, it really is fascinating how durable it has been. Also watch a few episode of the show if you are from a younger generation, makes the game even more enjoyable if you know the cast:))

Twilight Zone is considered one of the greatest pins of all time, and I really enjoy it, but I still haven't been able to connect to it yet. It's a game that has so much to do that you feel overwhelmed at the beginning. Maybe after more play, I can truly appreciate it!
