I really like the artwork and the sound is very good but I like Daft Punk. Lighting is good as there are no dark spots but it definitely needs those lighted ramps. The DMD clips could be better. The ball return from the disk is cool and puts some crazy spin on the ball. The flow is good on this pin and I can make many combos to keep the ball moving. The original arcade game toy looked really cheap and kinda out of place so I had to upgrade. Have played 6 different tables and some were easier to hit the Gem lane than others. Also, only a couple were fast players. Set up is very important on this game.

Can Stern PLEASE hire a dot artist, and stop directly adapting movie clips to get DMD animations? The digitized movie clips look HORRIBLE on the DMD, and they do on every game that's tried it.

GEM lane is too hard to see, and the inserts are likewise invisible. I'd seriously played several games before I knew there was a lane there. If they want a lane there, they should have taken pains to increase it's visibility... (move the posts at end of the right ramp over enough to see the bottom of the red arrow so you know there's a shot there?) - and do something about the insert lighting (maybe some raised condom-lights above the rear wall of the lane? Or solve both with a mirror al-la TOM? But that wouldn't really be thematic)

this is my favorite pinball right now. the design is spot on to the movie, the visuals are great, sound is unreal, so really fun combination shots, some tough shots, the spinning identity disc wails the ball full speed which is great, on of the fastest balls in pinball I'd say, some super fun multi balls, great semi wizard mode (sea of simulation) and fun wizard multi ball (portal) the pub down the road has the le version and Ive dumped so many dollars into this machine i cant even count. i love it. super fun, amazing pinball

This game has revived my faith in Stern after a few lack-lustre games recently. I've played the Pro version well over 50 times in an arcade setting - and I really enjoyed playing it! Lots of fast tight shots, with that great music from Daft Punk, along with neat quotes from the film. An intense and fast game to play, with no letup in play until the ball goes into the scoop. Not much to Tron, with just two ramps, three pop bumpers, a single scoop and the amazing spinning disc, but it all comes together with such an excellent set of rules to form one of my favorite games ever. This game proves that Stern can still design brilliant games after a few turkeys such as Rolling Stones...

I really like the look, sound, and feel of this one. I plays fast has some good flow combined with some difficult and fun shots. The disc adds the element of uncertainty to it. Very very fun pin to play. The only thing i dont love is the scoop placement and Gem shot center draining from time to time. Other than that it is the complete package great looking art package with epic sound and fun gameplay. After last update this game has improved even more thank you Lyman!

Wow, I really enjoy playing this game every chance I get. I like Iron Man, but I feel this is probably Stern's best game since Spider-Man. They did a real nice job on this one.

I was so excited to play this machine, and when I finally got my hands on it, it just isn't as fun as I hoped it would be. I cannot believe this machine is getting rated so highly (top 25???of all time?? C'mon...). I guess people were so pumped for the theme that they are ignoring it's game play shortfalls. I wouldn't buy one for any more than about $2000.

This is a players game. Tons of fun. Short ball times, but you are always looking forward to the next ball. Maybe this spinning disc is the best toy ever, maybe. Deep enough for long lastability. Great sound, great lighting. And, it´s TRON!!! Love this game very much.

Good news for Pro version owners, the game was made to be modified! The one I played has the shaker table, LED's and Flipper Fidelity sub woofer. All three make a real significant difference. Coin Taker makes some additional lighting mods for the back glass and under cabinet that are worth considering. Now some one needs to come up with a reasonable way to add the ramp lighting ( a great feature on the LE) and Stern provide the Pro owners the additional software for the LE added multi ball ( not likely) and this game will step up in fun value even more. Great flow as stated. Sound with the FF Sub is really good. The shaker motor is better integrated with the game then SM or LOTR (IMHO). This is not a deep game from a rules stand point but very fast. I can see people who like HS2 really appreciate the game. You can see the Stern cost savings, in the build, but none that affect game play. Not many play field toys, but, that is why the game does not capture the ball a lot and the flow is so good. Come on some one!! develop a light ramp mod!!!!!

Excellent playfield lighting, nice cabinet artwork. Backglass a bit of a letdown. Several times I had the ball drain rather quickly the first day I played this machine. Sounds and sound quality are good/excellent. A good machine, but not a must have. Edit: This is for the Pro model. Like it a bit more now that I played a few more games.

this is a rating for TRON LE:

ok..i've had mine for about a month now and have over 300 plays on it. wow. just wow. stern hit it out of the park on this one. this is quite possibly the fastest pin i've ever played...some amazing flow...and the disc is hands down superior to your basic twister/whirlwind spinning disc in terms of randomizing the ball.

art/cab: the artwork is fine...the overall blue look of the cab/playfield/translite/etc works with the TRON theme.

dmd/translite: the translite is the iconic image of clu/flynn from the movie and it's in 3D. awesome. the DMD has some excellent digitized clips from the movie, but honestly, this pin is so fast if you look up there very often, you're gonna find yourself draining quickly.

light show: gotta be up there with the best light shows in any pin from any era. the neon, color changing ramps are awesome...the vids online DO NOT do them justice. you've gotta see them to appreciate the effect. they pulse with the music/modes and change color depending upon the shot hit or mode started.

gameplay/toys/etc: FUN. FAST. amazing gameplay. stern outdid themselves as far as super fast flow is concerned. the ramp shots feel fantastic and the third flipper is a welcome addition. and the spinning disc? easily the coolest disc in any pin i've played. it'll dribble out 3 or 4 in a row, spit the next one out with enough backspin to walk it back up the playfield, and then fire the next one at your flipper so fast you can barely react.

and there are multiple multiball modes. and hey, with the LE, you get an extra mode: DAFT PUNK. how cool is that??

awesome game. awesome theme. well done, stern.

edit: now that there is an LE version in the rankings, i have re-adjusted my rankings on the PRO version to account for the lack of features/lighting/etc.

After 2 years, I couldn't shake my want for this game. The shots feel very satisfying, it's fast, the sound and lights are amazing, the theme does it for me, it has that "one more game" quality to it, and if that's not enough, it has music from Daft Punk. Only real downside to this game is that it's bare bones without mods. What's worse is that like many Stern's, the company was too cheap to put things like protectors on the ramp or in front of the recognizer on the pro. Simple fix though.....

After owning it for less than a year, I had to part ways. Despite the theme, music, and lighting, every game felt the same (skill shot to arcade, catch on right flipper, hit Quora...pass back to right flipper, hit quora...wash, rinse, repeat). B/c I'm limited to only a few games, I sold this to fund Star Trek LE.

Fun game, but I dislike the decals on the cabinet because the images looked a little fuzzy.

The obligatory cheap Stern feel, but some good fast play on offer. Play felt quite weighted to the right flipper. Left hand upper loop is hard and often punished by a left drain. Still I enjoy the challenge of some slightly randomised play. Pot luck entry to Flynn's arcade is fine, exit STM 1 in 10 not so. Couldn't hear the volume cranked but sound seemed ok. Side art and backglass are attractive, playfield is also better than most Sterns. Not a huge fan of the rinse and repeat Recogniser however. Quora multiball was fun. Overall fun to play on location maybe not to own. There seem to be two in SW Paris at the moment.

LE version looks stunning. Flow is very good, but overall it didn't "grab" me.

In my honest opinion, I was expecting more from this Pinball Machine, I really wanted to like it, but this score is based on the Tron: legacy Pro version.
This is one beautiful machine when you look at the cabinet and all the art around it. but the most important thing is not outside on the cabinet but on the inside.
after reading the rules, I played the game and I was not impressed at all or even got into it. I really wanted to like this machine, I'm not saying this is a bad machine, the only thing that really rock was the spinner, which is kind of pointless and the multi balls that you get once you get the machine going.
This is not a good effort by Stern, and would honestly pass on this one. I would not buy this machine, but I am willing to drop a few quarters once in a while.

Had to re-rate. Got a HUO Tron and my goodness me, it's an incredible game. Part-exchanged my LOTR and I am not disappointed! This is fast, fast, fast. Elements of AFM with regard to the speed of this one.

Provisional rating here that may change as I only played around 10 games on it so far. It took me a few games to get my eye in but once there the game rocked. Lots of action, nice layout and loved the sounds.

The backglass disappointed me as it looks kind of blurred. Still, overall a nice looking pin. Great sounds and music - so much better than so much out there. Love the way the spinning disc throws the ball onto the playfield. One of Stern's best for sure.

Lovelyl looking pin. Very similar to AFM and SM with its disc target. Fun and fast with good flow. Punishingly quick almost. Music is great. Daft Punk's score from the movie never sounded so good. The speech can get a bit repetitive but it works. Borg did an exceptional job with the layout and it plays real well. This pin is my grail after 6 years. One day it will be mine... oh yes... it will be mine.
