I think the reputation suffers because it is compared to World Cup Soccer (which is great in so many ways). But this is a really fun game with great shots, great playfield, great sounds, etc. I'd recommend this game and for people to just enjoy it, and forget about comparing it to WCS. The soccer theme is really well done, very international. If you are a fan of world cup soccer (the sport, not the pinball machine), then this is the better machine for the theme. If you like cute dogs and more kid-friendly theming, then WCS would be better.
Shots and the playfied, a couple of thoughts: The physical lock mechanism is really cool. The goalie is also cool how it catches the ball. The ramp shot from the top left flipper is fun and satisfying.
Sound: Sounds are good. The music sounds good, and sets the right energy level for whats going on in the game. The international acceent of the announcer is great for me (American), but who knows what other English speakers might think. Maybe slightly repetitve over time, but amusing, helpful to gameplay.
Backglass and Cabinet: I'm not a big fan of the cabinet artwork from Stern during this period (a bit grainy), but it's colorful, on theme, and fine. Same for the backglass. It would all look so much better if the edges and lines were super clean. I think this is called "half tones" -- different colors of dots for shading, etc. Maybe that was just the best capability for printing at the time.

Like many have said it's not as bad as it's reputation. Worst part is the Call Outs and Music. Layout is pretty fun to shoot. The never ending Goalie moving is not that great. Multiball is fun and the shots you need to hit can be challenging. Overall if you can get one at a good price like I did definitely grab it and play it for a while. Lasted 6 months with us. If I come across another one done the road I would pick it up again for another short stay it's not a long time keeper.

I've owned Striker Xtreme now for almost 3 years, and it's sat at a friend's house for the last 2 years. That is the perfect way to summarize my review of this game. It's a decent shooting game, but overall, it's fairly basic. The rules are somewhat vanilla, and people may tire of the game eventually. BUT, it's a soccer game and you get to keep trying to score past a moving goalie. That alone makes this game interesting, unique, and compelling enough to own.
Now, notice I didn't say compelling enough to play regularly - hence it's sitting at a friend's house. This game is really suited for anyone that likes soccer, basic straightforward pinballs, and hearing a British guy be your announcer throughout the game. Honestly, it's fun to play, might get stale eventually, but makes a great "add on" for you if you own other pinballs.

- Personally love the callouts (british announcer) and his reactions. Others hate it, I like it
- Very satisfying to score goals
- Game progression of beating teams is fun and straightforward
- Multiball progressions are obvious and fun to play
CONS
- Game can get repetitive
- Left flipper and ramp are TOUGH
- Even the right side ramp can be a bit tough
- Rules are very basic
- Outside of scoring goals, there's really not much else to hit
- Some of the modes can be challenging because the left side flipper and right ramp are tough

An overlooked gem of a game. I played a decent version of this for about 15 games and it shoots well and has a good set of easy to follow rules. I'm guessing the theme and artwork may turn some people off, but I would keep coming back to this game over and over.

An underrated pin in my opinion. I know its not fancy but it is a lot of fun. Note that the version I played (which i own) has strong flippers, which is likely a must to reach top of steep ramps. My balls rocket around the playfield.
Game has a moving goalie which works extremely well. It has a magnet which "saves" the balls when shot at goal. I also like the stadium which gathers balls for multiball. I disagree with other reviews about the sound as I like the European announcer and the familiar chant of "Gooooaaaaalllllllllll!!!" For around $1500, you cannot go wrong.

Pros:
- Music during Shootout is... um... interesting?...
- Multiball + xtreme mode stacks are fun. Best part of the game by far.
- Can work towards the Championship during Multiball.
Cons:
- Middle ramp is a joke.
- Right ramp is impossible to hit thanks to poor build quality. Playfield design in general doesn't match the actual physics.
- Sound is terrible as usual.

Just didn't like anything about the game. I hated it. Im not a fan of Soccer but the Pinball just seemed boring and annoying.

This game is much better than its reputation suggests.while it isn't in my top 10 it would be a good starting pin on a budget. The play field and rules are pretty solid it just feels let down by a lazy art package and some lazy call outs and lack of exciting animations. The xtreme name is abit cringe worhy too. All in all though it's a fun pin with more features than you would normally find at it's price point.

Art: Average but fitting to the Theme.
Audio: Very Good, really gets you into the game especially during Stadium Multiball.
Playfield: Very good layout for theme.
Play Rating: IMO this is a sleeper game, Flippers must be in good shape to make Ramps. I like this pin for the most part because its simple or should i say Simply Fun, that being said it's still a challenge to beat. I've played this about 30 times now and have made it to competition multiball a couple times. This Pin is just FUN FUN FUN........High Score 657 Mil, on 3 ball play... Everyone in the house really likes this pin as well. Its a great machine for newer players that just want to hit the ball and actually feel like they are accomplishing something.
