Shoot the Death Star! The main ramp is overpowered, but still a fun game!

The theme is awesome, but the game leaves a few aspects wanting. First, the music deviates too much from the movie soundtracks. Second, the game is too simple; it needs more depth for such a popular theme.

But it's still Star Wars. I think pins are a visual (and audio) hobby as much as gameplay, so it's still cool in my book.

this game is very fun and awesome for new pinball people. Once you figure out its' a one shot game, it loses it's support in your collection. Still the best out of all the star wars games out there.

*Updated with new code*

The machine that got me into pinball nearly 20 years ago. Great use of the theme, great music, good call outs, not too deep of a rule set and thus easy to understand immediately. With the updated code, the game is much more balanced than before, no longer one shot! Really, the only real negatives I can think of is the artwork on the playfield could be better.

This is a great game that is both challenging yet fun enough to keep you coming back without getting frustrated. I love shooting the Deathstar for the multiball. The skill shot is easy to master though which is a con. For a Data East game, it is one of the better ones.

Edit: after owning it for about a year the family and I started to tire of it. The new code is much better but still there is only so much to do. Even us, as Star Wars fans, were ready to move on from it after a year.

Definitely not the most fun pinball around. Gameplay is repetitive and not really inspired.
They could have done a real killer with this theme.
But somehow the theme save this pinball and I still get something for it.

Love the theme but I feel more could have been done with the shifter. The playfield art is too busy for my liking. However I do enjoy the playfield toys and skill shots. I could do without the upbeat reimaging of the classic Star Wars soundtrack.

This Borg-designed game is fun! It was fun when I first played it, and it has held my interest as I continue to improve my performance. The theme is beautifully executed in the artwork, sound and gameplay. Adding a speaker kit with subwoofer made the game even more immersive. I really like how the DMD adds to the play. The rules set offers a nice balance, giving new players enough to do, while offering nice challenges to the average player. If you are a pinball god or goddess you might need a bit more depth, but for most of us this machine offers a great experience at about half the cost of the top 10 games.

One of those games I really don't like to play... had one set up for ages, but just didn't enjoy it... it had it's good sides, but overall it left me cold. The artwork is really... Data East!

If you are a Star Wars fan this game is awesome. Better than Episode I pinball. If not a fan then average game play.

I have mixed feelings, I love this machine but I can see how if you are a good pinball player it could get pretty boring... if you keep hitting the center ramp over and over and over you can get stupid amounts of points without really doing much... playfield could have used more toys, the R2D2/Deathstar is great though

edit note: new roms really helped fix a lot of the balancing issues in this game, made it much better!

I think this game is a huge disappointment. I mean anybody who walks by a Star Wars game is going to have to play it at least once , because its STAR WARS. Unfortunately, its just not fun. Layout is terrible. This game could have been amazing, but I feel they rushed it out. I played it 3 times and I can honestly say I will never play it again and I am a big fan of the movies, just not the pinball game.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I bought this pin without ever having played it (not something I usually recommend) and I don't regret it. If you're a Star Wars fan then you'll enjoy it. Love the art, sounds, music, toys and quotes. Would have liked a slightly better layout - love the flow of the ramp and how it has an extra twist to it and interacts with the DMD animations, but it could have used a second ramp as it relies too much on the one. That being said, everyone gravitates to it and has fun playing it. If my kids have anything to say about it, it will stay in the collection for a while.

Fun game, the center ramp is too easy to hit. There should be more millenium falcon in here.

I was surprised at how much fun this one played. That deathstar is SWEEEET. And the animations and sounds are awesome. The artwork too is amazing hand drawn and intricately detailed representation of the Star Wars universe. Some times it feels a little easy and I don't like the multiball being given to you, but this is a solid game and the best SW pin ever made.

Very good pinball machine. Not the best pacing, but a perfect candidate for an LED upgrade.

cant help it I am of the Star Wars generation for give me . The theme hooks me and brings the childhood memories back and that in the end makes the game more than it is.

This was my first Pinball purchase since catching the bug as an adult. Honestly I can't think of a better handling of a theme in pinball. It's one of the best looking machines out there in my opinion with fantastic artwork, and a theme that attracts just about everyone. It is a very simple game, but as a person with a kid, that is a great thing for getting youngsters into pinball. I have seen my daughter get pretty discouraged walking up to a more complicated machine, not understanding anything that she was supposed to do, and draining 3 balls. Also, The ramp-tie fighter sound effect combo is excellently executed, and gives me a real visceral reaction that's tied to the nostalgia of the pre-jar jar Star wars universe. I love this game, and even if just shooting up the middle can result in killer scores, I enjoy just trying to make some of the more challenging shots, like relighting the relaunch by shooting the left orbit through the pop bumpers. Great game.

I used to play this pin a lot back in college. As a Star Wars fan, I love this game. The sounds and music from the movie are used well and the DMD animations are cool. The ramp is a little easy to hit, but it is quite satisfying anyway. I like the Death Star and R2-D2 toys, and the skill shot where you have to shoot the TIE fighters on the DMD is cool. Overall, I think this is a fun pin to play, but the playfield artwork is only so-so.

Despite its shortcomings, I like this game. It is great looking and captures the theme of the movies really well. It is fun, mainly from a novelty standpoint. The revised rules make the game's scoring much more balanced and I have updated my rating to reflect this. This is the only game I've sold and bought back. I enjoy having it around and guests love it.
