Great theme.... And that is where it ends. If this said anything else other than "Star Wars" on it, it would be probably one of the less desirable games DE produced. Terrible PF art, layout isn't the greatest. Not a lot of positive things to say about it. JP is leaps and bounds better than this game. This one is in the top 100 for theme and theme alone. If the code hadn't been updated, the score would have been worse in the rule set and game play for me, otherwise it is just a 1 shot game and has no real lasting power. Could be fun to play occasionally to put a smile on your face as a SW fan, but not to own.

Like the DE Simpsons, I played the hell out of this as a kid and enjoyed every minute of it. Much of the fascination with this pin has to do with the respect I have for the movies growing up, but the appreciation for the movies is by no means a pass on the game. From what I remember the last time I played it, the flow of the game was great with plenty of toys and objectives to keep me busy. All in all this is a very entertaining pin and would be glad to have in my collection.

I originally wasn't too into this game but the more i've played it the more I've liked it. blowing up the death star for multi ball is always fun plus I like to hit the runaway r2. Some fun stuff on this one. I agree it could have been a better game but definitely one that I'd like to own at some point

Love the theme, sounds, and artwork has that comic book feel, perfect for a pin. One trick pony a la "Hit the Death Star".

Loved this game in high school. Now I own it with the new code and love it. Play it almost daily. I've owned it for a year. Not tired of it.

This game should have been MUCH better. What waste of (arguably) one of the most valuable licenses of our time. This a a very bland game. Not much fun at all. I lost interest in it before I finished my first game... How bad is that? Furthermore, I thought that R2 would spin and chirp along with the game play, similar to the shows and movie, but it just bounces up and down, unlike the character. They totally blew a great opportunity here.

Huge Star Wars fan, so naturally I love this table and its beautiful artwork and great music and quotes. There may be a limited number of things to accomplish but i feel enough challenge in mastering them that nothing has gotten old for me! This is also my first pin!

Didn't play SW with the old rules but Chad's rules are very well balanced and have a good depth. The game is really beautiful (I love the retro SW look) and sounds pretty good for its age. The theme is also well integrated and callouts are great. Still have the Data East feel to it but quite a good game all in all.

My rating on this is biased because I'm a huge fan of Star Wars. In my opinion, this is the best Star Wars pin currently available.

I'm a star wars nut so i'm a little biased and can over look some little issues as the package as a whole really appeals to me, fun machine with great sounds lights etc, Best Star Wars pin period.

*Fitted my Machine with the updated code (Ball save , score improvements etc) and its made a huge difference. Still gets boring/repetative over time.

**THIS MACHINE WITH 20TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE DESERVES A BETTER RATING, PLAYS TOTALLY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL CODE.

Average game with an awesome theme. This one lasted the shortest amount of time in my house. I was happy to see it go, got tired of 3PO telling me to shoot the death star in my sleep.

A very fun game - especially if you enjoy the theme. The death star is cool and has a good risk/reward. All the characters voices are fun and the music is good too. The new software helps balance the scoring, so all in all in a very good game with good appeal to a wide audience.

Wow, I almost feel sorry for Data East...

Pros:
- Death Star is a cool toy, no question! It's used in the game pretty well, and it may be the best part of the machine.
- Multiball on this table is a blast with some of the most satisfying shots in any pinball machine.
- Most of these machines are out of commission.

Cons:
- Rules: Shoot the center ramp over... and over... and over. Fun fact, you can actually obtain carpal tunnel by shooting the ramp infinitely!
- R2-D2 doesn't do much besides jumping around and making a lot of racket.
- There are still a few left on location.
- Look ma, Jabba's gobble hole.

Star Wars was awesome in 1992. The cabinet art was simple but it was good enough for the day. Backglass is the business - really nice and attracts Star Wars fans to this day. Playfield looks great. Toys were good for 1992 and so was the artwork on the field. A few shots seem a bit awkward and upset the flow but the ramp is a winner. Sounds are pretty good, of course the quality wasnt pefect back then but it was very cool for fans of the movie. Gameplay was ok but not fantastic in my opinion. Still a great effort by Data East i was impressed in 1992. Play it for sure.

Have the new rom and have a great time playing this game. It's actually quite difficult and tri-ball is not easy to achieve. The non-original voices don't bother me, nor does the DE energized Star Wars theme music. I get it, that it's meant to be a pinball take on the music score that differentiates the game from the film. It creates a tense pace and sense of urgency to make the shots you need to make. The modes are different to what people might be used to with some Bally Williams games which is fine. Overall it's not what you would call a deep game, but it's a blast to play. Ignore low ratings by players that played a game using the old rom.
