Sold this game a decade ago and started to want it back near immediate. Just add added it back in a week ago.

Excellent game. The rules are pretty easy to follow and it's fun to stack modes for a huge scoring attempt. One of the best things is the 'web swinging' by alternating shots between the two ramps. The playfield toys stand out, all of them move in some way - has a bit more going on than most modern Stern games with toys/mechs. This original (non-vault) version with the JK Simmons callouts is great. I think it adds a lot to the atmosphere/theme integration. Highly recommend for home use or location play. The only reason this isn't a 8.5+ is because of the DMD animations (poor quality), and the cabinet/plastics artwork. The playfield itself looks good.

Ok ill start by saying I am a Spider-man fan and have been since I was a kid. I played this pin for the first time this year at the Houston Arcade Show. I found myself going back to play it over and over again even though Godzilla, Mandalorian and a few other new pins were there. Im not a tournament player by any means and im not big on games with difficult rule sets. I found this game has a mixture of easy and hard shots and the rule set isn't hard to figure out. The toys and sounds on this pin are awesome and the original movie voices and callouts are great especially the Green Goblin laugh. I now own this game and It gets a ton of play in my line up. IMO if you want a nice Pin that has everything a new Stern premium comes with for a fraction of the cost this is a must have.

I have read a ton of reviews on movie themed pins and one thing sticks out to me, If you love the movie there is a good chance you'll love the Pin. If you hate the movie no matter how good the pin is you'll never like it or give it a fair review.

Decent layout. Good shooter. Definitely has the Steve Ritchie classic mech/toy in the middle ramps and loops surround symmetry.

One of the best pins ever made.
Had this machine few years back, sold it
bought another one. Super fun shots.
Only the dmd animations are a bit of a letdown (they should add the Vault edition ones if possible)
and the mid section of the playfield lacks some lighting.
But the call outs, and fun factor are through the roof.
Look for wear near magnet when buying one!

Pretty fun game that played quite well.

I like how the ruleset is structured. The way you can shoot any of the villains and progress them at any time. And the way you can use the Doc Ock multiballs to light locks for your other multiball. And the under-the-upper-flipper shot is always fun.

Nice shooting game - typical Ritchie flow; but the playfield is packed with shots- ramptastic with some excellent callouts and great music. Playfield art is so so by newer Stern standards but that wouldn’t bother me. A well balanced game but a better player might get bored or the way you progress through to the mini wizard and wizard modes- I’m not a great player but can get pretty far through the modes.

Have had this machine in my collection for 6 years. The J. K. Simmons callouts add to the game. The modes are great, too, such as the Macho Man mode. Grandkids love this game, so it will likely stay in the collection for awhile.

One of sterns best. Great game play. Shooter lane design does no hold up to wear as good as other stern games.

This pin is just okay for me. Sort of a worse version of Deadpool.

fun machine although it would lack a little more rules, for the year of manufacture it is not bad

As my first pinball machine, this one will always be special for me. I love the variety and the rule set here. I really appreciated the depth of the game. As I got better, getting past the mini-wizard and ultimately Super Hero modes, it's very satisfying. (I just need to get to SH more often!) When you combine that with the call-outs and insults, it's really fun, particularly with new players not familiar with the game.

I feel lucky that this was my first. (Good choice on my end!)

Such a great flowing game. Long ball times. The doc ock shot is mesmerizing and always fun. Great family game that all ages can get in to. Battle Royale is great. I’ve never made it to super hero. Multiballs are fun and not too difficult to get, especially the first doc ock Multiball.

I don't get it. It's fun to do a few combos and stuff but most of the modes are too hard in the time limits and the multiballs are uninspiring and unrewarding, it seems that experts only use them to have a better chance of finishing the modes. The villains are mostly just a case of hitting the same thing over and over. Yes, it has multipliers and scoring strategies if you can be bothered to work that hard. Not a terrible game but really disappointing after all the hype.

This game is the game that got me hooked on pinball. It’s amazing. It nailed every element. The original 2007 is the only version I would say this applies to. All time great, I think the only reason it’s not too ten is the flood of rehash games skewing the top 100. This is likely the greatest Pin of the 200-2010 era, and yes that includes lotr.

All my reviews are going to follow a simple formula for those reading.
Number of shots to make - Pro's - Con's - Must Have Mods - What To Look For When Buying

Number of shots - 8 - high

Pro's:
* Dr Ock shot strangely satisfying
* Normal Steve Ritchie flow in all the ramp & orbit shots feels very smooth and satisfying
* Nice homage to Attack From Mars with the Center target bank and shots to the Sandman
* Love the call outs from JK Simmons
* Multiballs easy to achieve which is good for beginners

Cons:
* Long ball times might not suit everybody
* Poor looking animations without the color dmd
* Rinse repeat style modes with the villains

Must Have Mods: (Note I will not include things like LED's, Color DMD, Invisiglass or Speaker Upgrades unless it's really badly needed)
* This title really benefits from color dmd as animations are hard to make out on a standard dmd
* Colored web pieces from Fabrication Unlimited a nice touch
* Alternate slingshot plastics
* Spidey shooter rod from Mezel Mods

What To Look For When Buying
* Condition of the ramps, particularly the right one
* Wear at the drop spot from Sandman scoop
* Wear around the Dr Ock magnet
* Sandman plastic commonly broken

I owned this for about 6 months. Decent pin as evidenced by its ciurrent top 20 Pinside rating. For whatever reason, however, I just never could get into it. Maybe it was the theme as I liked but didn’t love the movies this pin is based on.

Music is decent and there are some cool villain toys like Doc Ock, Sandman, and the Green Goblin. At times, the game kind of felt redundant and that you are chopping wood just bashing villains over and over again, though.

In the end, I just had to sell a game to clear up space and funds for an incoming Stern Jurassic Park and SM didn’t make the cut.

My first pin I ever purchased, all others after will always be compared. This machine is amazing, will never leave my collection and gets played almost daily

Nice pin with a lot of toys. I wish there were more variation, but it is certainly worthy.

Finally got to spend some time with this game and I’m just blown away! The playfield design, toys, rules, sound, music, lighting and theme integration make for probably the most exhilarating game of pinball there is! Fast and fun to shoot! Easy for casual players to make things happen and tough for great player to master. The repetitive Villain modes can be a bit tiresome and feel a bit woodchoopy, but the other modes and the combos keep things from getting too monotonous. Dmd animations are tough to see unless you add the color dmd and the photoshopped movie art is pretty lame, but hardly noticeable when you are ripping those combos and all of the fun shots. Venom side ramp feels great. Doc Ock events alone are worth the price of admission. One of the most show stopping moments in pinball. Just mesmerizing every time. The power of the sun in the palm of my hand indeed!!!!

Update: After a few months I have to update a few things on the negative side. Had to drop a point on rules and layout.

1. The spider sense lane is very inconsistent and often hits the top of the right sling and bounces to the right outlane. Even after a thorough leveling it continues to do this.

2. If you have a multiball running (or stacked multiballs, where this problem is worse) while playing some of the modes, it’s next to impossible to tell what shots you need to make to complete the mode.

3. The lack of any actual info on the info screen is maddening. No way to know how many balls are locked and would help to fix the problem in #2.
