Sluggin' Champ is one of my favorite woodrails. The backglass and playfield art are extremely well done. Multiple ways to win replays. Points (rbis), score, and lit gobble holes after collecting the teams. Just a beautiful, challenging and fun game.

A great game I've played since the 70s and have now inherited. Rare for a machine of this vintage to have a quest - in this case, lighting every NL (yellow) or AL (purple) team in order to light the center holes for 1 replay (or 6, if you light up every team and drop a ball into the center holes). RBIs provide a second way to earn replays; score, a third. My kids are the fourth generation of the family to have enjoyed this game and it's still going strong.

Another classic Gottlieb woodrail with multiple ways to win. Great art work with humorous touches on the playfield plastics. This title was a huge earner back in the day and as such, very hard to find with nice playfield. Very good playfield lighting on this title as well.

Gameplay is where this title excels and reason for it taking so much money on location.

Collect 8 yellow teams to light a gobble hole for special. New York, Brooklyn, Milwaukee, St Louis, Cininnati, Philadelphia, Chicago and Pittsburgh. Collect the purple teams and light the extra special gobble hole for 5 replays. Purple teams are Cleveland, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Washington, Baltimore, and Kansas City.

Standard way also of winning on points - millions and strategy can be altered as you get close to this goal.

The last way of winning is the separate scoring system of RBI's. This part of the game is genius and is a major reason why players put so much money into this game. On ball 1, each of the 4 targets are worth 1 RBI when hit. Ball 2 this increases to 2 and by ball 5 there are 5 RBI's each time a target is hit.

Additionally each RBI is rewarded by a bong of a bell, so 5 RBI'S gets 5 bongs!

What this means is that a game is never really over on this game as you might not have many teams or many points but on ball 5, you might start hitting the targets and quickly racking up the RBI count. So, much so it is possible to go from zero RBI's on ball 4 to scoring enough just on ball 5 to win replays!

So, this is a game that is never boring, always have a chance to win and when it all comes together, it is possible to stack up a serious amount of replays. Very rewarding to get all the teams and then gobble hole is your best friend as you are awarded with bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang as the knocker goes crazy!

Of note also are the 2 posts by the flippers, positioned in a way that great saves can be made.

This is truly one of the great players, and it is a piece of sporting memorabilia as well. Finding one is very hard, finding one in great original condition, is super hard.

This game really plays well. The theme is great, collecting the names of all the baseball teams red and yellow is fun and overall I really enjoyed it. Others have said it is boring and lame, I played an excellent example at The Paris Pinball Museum and really enjoyed it.
