Odd bumper placement waste space on the left side. This game is basically a Bally without good art and design. On the plus side, it is fun for a few games.

Sharpshooter is the first game by GamePlan. It's a good start and with few exceptions (andromeda, pinball lizard and if you can find them... cyclopes or loch ness monster!), is their best game as well.

The Pros:
This game lives up to it's name and offers the player many tempting targets. Some are close to the flippers and others are full PF shots. Sounds are well done. Double pops by the flippers have not been seen since Pat Hand. The horseshoe and the saucer shots as well as the orbit are tight and skillful. There are some slight adjustments to the layout that really "refine" the game, notably around the saucer and the spinner.

The Cons: Parts?
The Artwork is not the best, with a different artist, again.

The Takeaway:
A solid game for 1979. Not enough to keep up with the pace of 1983 games. It's too bad that they did not keep up with the rest of the industry... Game Plan made some great machines and this is one of them.

I own this game. My 2nd GamePlan and both have solid cab and parts. Very similar to early Bally/Sterns so not sure where the cheap feel comes from. Backglass is better than the original IMO with "Quigley Down Under" as opposed to "Poorly drawn dude." Playfield layout and rules seem to be the exact same as original. This hurts it in one aspect, sound. There is no background sound or speech which is pretty unacceptable for 1983. Game has some very difficult shots which require nudging and luck to make (left targets and S.H.R lanes. The ball will almost always roll down the A unless you do some serious nudging. Since there is no lane change, this becomes a real skill shot. With rebuilt flippers and a waxed playfield, this game is fast. Missing a drop often results in a fast return SDTM. Shots to the left of the sling are rare because of the small opening but if it goes in there it is usually a drain due to the trajectory. Go for the Horseshoe lane. It was fun but too similar to my Andromeda which is better due to sound, flashers and MB.

This machine is a blast to play. I haven't played the original, but I love the feel of this game. The ball rolls well and the double pop bumpers at the bottom of the playfield are unique and challenging. There are tricky shots all over the playfield and enough speed and action to keep me coming back again and again. I have owned this now for about 2 months and has become one of my favorite machines. It is right there in the crossover between EM and SS and has the advantages of both. The sounds are not excellent but are much better than some bloops and bleeps on other games. The playfield layout is my favorite feature. I like this artwork better than the original, but I know that is very subjective. If you find one, play it or buy it. Great game.

Looks, feels, and plays like a cheaply made Mattel game
