I've been into the hobby for less than a year after growing up playing mainly in the 70s and 80's. TS is my forth game along with TZ, SS and JM. The best recommendation I can give is that it would be the last to leave. Even though I'm a beginner, the game is addictive and is great for developing skills. It's certainly not a good pick for the casual player or family. It's hard to find fault with the layout. Every shot is well thought and challenging. The game definitely keeps up the intensity with distinct modes and great call outs. My only complaint is it's a pain to get set up just right. My game was in good shape when purchased but still required various tweaks and fixes. Be prepared to spend some time working on the machine but for me it's satisfying to get a great game playing as intended.

Do you like being kicked in the balls? Well, when you first step up to this machine, get ready. Picking the skill shot option on the left ramp can be met with a quick middle drain if you miss....the ramp is so close to the flippers you don't have much time to react. It's even worse when you don't have the ball save in your favor. The layout is pretty good and the use of the player diverted ramp option as well as the upper playfield makes the game a cerebral challenge on the fly. The Sanctum is another great toy that doesn't seem to ever get old.

The theme falls short for me...really didn't get into it. Didn't care for the music or call outs. If you want a brutal game that will challenge your skills...this may be the one. Glad I had an opportunity to own one, just wasn't a keeper.

My absolute favorite Pinball machine of all time! once a total sleeper, now a collectors favorite the Shadow really has alot to offer. Its simply a badass machine. the sounds and music are truly one of a kind, and rememerable. With crashing thunder claps, gunshots, and Evil Laughter this game Pulls me back Every single day. A total players game, This isnt for Kids... Each shot counts, the divertors are awesome, the battlefield gets a lil hate, but slick it up and it makes for a fast and speedy mode versus an "ugh battlefield again" stop and go type of feel. Leds really kick this game into hyperdrive as well. i loaded mine with cointaker Ultra bright leds for all the GI, and supers for the inserts. I also added about 6 spotlights on the playfield to brighten up a couple areas to be able to truly play this game in the dark. Once dialed in, this game can even hang with the big dogs, ( MM, and AFM ) Everyone has that one title in which they will never sell. This is that title for me, i dont care if im eating ramon noodles, and fortune cookies to get by, this game is never going anywhere!!!

The Shadow is a great design that would definitely be a lot more popular had it not been involved with this particular theme. It's a classic Brian Eddy design, that I believe stands up well against it's brothers, Attack From Mars and Medieval Madness. The artwork isn't perfect for the backglass, but the playfield artwork, and cabinet art are pretty cool if you ask me. I'd love to own this game someday.

I'd have to be real picky to find any negatives with this one. Tons of fun to play and always worth a few spins when you see it.

Shadow is one of the very few games that did not charm me when it first came out, but when I went back to it years later it became one of my favorites.
The main reason for this is that I had poor ball control skills when it came out. Years later, when the bounce pass and drop catch were part of my game, I enjoyed it much more. The Shadow can be brutal to players who do not control the ball.

The quotes and sound effects are among the best in pinball.
The two way combo is one of the best in pinball, and looping the shadow loop is a rush.
The game presents two of the toughest challenges in pinball - the 7 way combo and the triple khan super jackpot. Winning final battle is very fun as well.

Unlike many games, the multiball is not necessarily where the big points are, as modes, the battlefield, combos, and vengeance are all worth playing. In fact, the vengeance and super vengeance payoffs are too lucrative IMO. The two way combo scoring can get especially high as it starts at 10M and goes up 3M each time through the WHOLE GAME. And it is awarded during multiballs! So there becomes a time after you have hit a few dozen two ways, that it becomes the main thing worth going for.

Another problem with this game is that it did not stay working well on location. Similar to STTNG, many Shadows were not working correctly a few months after being on location. The phurba divertors are also notorious for smacking the welds on the ramps and breaking them.

Nevertheless, The Shadow is one of the best WPC games made. It's gameplay is fast and furious, it presents many satisfying challenges and has the best lock in pinball. Also it only takes about ten minutes or so to get to the wizard mode, which is a nice change of pace from many other games.

One of the most challenging games out there. Game can be a drain monster. You just have to get good at it to really keep the ball rolling. Upper playfield is so neat. Best ball lock in all of pinball. Great sounds music etc keeps me coming back.

I've owned several. Fun game but just not enough shots to keep it fresh. And of course the back glass just ruins the game...awful.

The Shadow is IMO the best machine you can buy for the money. It is a players machine that is very difficult and requires a lot of thought when playing to score well. You may not like it much at first, but give it time and you will be hooked. The sound on this machine is excellent, the ramp diverters are very unique and the wizard mode is one of the best there is. The sanctum lock is also very cool. The replay animation is worth noting too, because it is the best one in pinball.

Done alot of reading and watched alot of youtube videos before i finally had the chance to play it,so i knew it was a players game before i got started,it is a very beautiful machine, looks very solid, people slag the artwork and say the backglass sux,but i dont, i think it makes the game look all class, what i can say in my opinion of this game is you have to own it to really understand it, i dont think its one of those games that people will just pick up the rules an gameplay on location,it seems complex not an average pin by any means,I would also say if your thinking of buying one your best to get one that has been totally restored by a professional,or some one who knows what there doing, because there is alot goin on with the ramp diverters and the kicker for the battlefield and and the battlefield in general an the santrum, all these need to be working correctly to really enjoy the game, the flippers need to be strong to hit the shots,it might become expensive if you just pick one up from a random someone, again this is only my opinion,This game will keep you occupied for along time, and would compliment having a game with a shallower rule set next to it,so when guests are around they can just enjoy a simple game of pinball, this one will be mostly used for when its just you and the machine,an your really in the zone, saying this I would definatly want to own one,and get to know the shadow,it seems like one hell of a game ,thats not overpriced...

Played the shadow for two hours while waiting for another pin to get packed and loaded up. Don't like the gold hardware and the game just feels dated. The switching arrows is cool, but got old. The theme is a bit lame, never care to play it again. Was really looking forward to playing shadow, but it left me flat.

This game is brilliant! It will certainly make you a better player. It takes a ton of thought and skill to score well. If you can make it to the final battle you will experience one of the best wizard modes out there.

Really good game. The Battlefield is awesome, the gun handle plunger is nice, and the gameplay is real fast. The music and sound is cool and the quotes and scenes are recognizable from the film. Although it doesn't make me want to come back immediately, it still has me coming back period.

Still not sure why people prefer Attack from Mars and Medieval Madness. This earlier Eddy game is actually the best game -- and it really is not even very close.

this is a wonderful game the upper loop is the fastest I've ever seen and your just left with trying to time that cause you ain't gonna see it coming back around. the ball lock is my favorite trick in pinball and the diverters are a neat skills addition, you put darth vader on this glue an r2-d2 on the playfield somewhere and you'd be heading to the bank for a loan to own this game but lucky for you this is the #1 bang for you buck pin there is by a Long Shot. playfield art? it's grown on me and I can appreciate now. back glass? not too good but It could be worse, just think if it was tom cruise for a second and that should make it a lot better. i'm sure alec doesn't care that you have a few pinball machines in your garage and I bet he cares even less what you think of him cause i'm sure he see us as just a bunch of "spoiled little pigs" I like the man's attitude and he has one of the components right there to being able to play some mean pinball.

To me this is a very under-appreciated game, and I understand the poor movie and hideous visage of Alec Baldwin. However, I could play this game for hours and never get tired. It is also very difficult and challenging. Several unique features unlike any other game, make this a keeper.

Super fast game play, deep rule set & variety of shots makes this a permanent member of any collection! Never gets boring trying to get to the final battle & defeat Khan. Highly recommended!
