Design team

Game Design: Brian Eddy
Software: Mike Boon
Artwork: Doug Watson
Sound: Dan Forden
Music: Dan Forden
Callouts: Tim Kitzrow

Noteworthy features

  • Battlefield with sliding flipper bat (based on 'Breakout' , one of the first video games ever made)
  • Magnet ball lock (very cool effect) in the 'Sanctum'
  • 'Double' ramps diverted by phurbas (indian daggers)
  • Underrated pin, probably because of the slightly failed theme it was based on. Features some great music, gameplay and some nice playfield toys. Try to play the shadow at least once.

Trivia

  • There's a hidden scene, "Secret Laughter Mode", when you pull the gun trigger while the ball is in both 'Start Scenes' and on the battlefield. You need to hear the quote "Anyone for peking duck?" three times and then a final shot into 'Start Scene'.
  • The Shadow was Brian Eddy's first playfield design. He would continue his successful career in the pinball design field with Williams and Midway and would also use some ideas not used in 'The Shadow' in his famous AFM and MM later on.

Backbox ornament(s)

It is unknown wether any backbox ornaments were available for this machine.

Video mode

Dodge the falling knives by going left (left button) or right (right button). Pressing the gun will let clear the falling knives at once, however this will work only once per video mode. After clearing the knives come back, but much faster!
