Rollergames...you GOTTA be kidding me!

Rollergames is one of those games I've seen for sale every year and I've always ignored. Why ignore a perfectly good pinball machine? I dunno...I guess it's all about the first impressions this game gives out.

Maybe because it's really REALLY ugly.

Maybe because it looks like an old hokey pokey slow System 11 from the early 90's?

Maybe because of it's ultra low pricetag; always seeing it around $600-$900 pricemark made me automatically judge it as probably crappy and not worth my time.

This game actually reminds me of a strange middle aged lady at work who for some reason is very much stuck in the 80's. (big puffy mullet, silver space boots, long purple and floresent ski jacket, headbands, etc..) However, all her 80's clothes were obviously bought by her way back then, and she's just decided to keep wearing them. So, her purple is faded, the boots arent really silver anymore, and the neon no longer pops the way it did. For the past 10yrs I've avoided this lady like I avoided Rollergames...but maybe I'm wrong about her? Maybe shes fun, captivating, amusing, thrilling, and interesting. Because since taking Rollergames home I've realized that it has all these qualities, and then some!

Rollergames has taken the coveted 3rd and final spot in my collection. I sold off LOTR and was happy again with my nice small/sane 2-pin collection (Diner, Corvette). I had space in my basement again. That cramped feeling was gone! Then a Rollergames came up for sale locally and very cheap. I thought why not...I had actually played it breifly a year ago at another collectors house, and was surprised that I didnt hate it the way I thought I should.

Sure, what the heck, snatch it up and set it up I thought, I'll probably just sell if off in a month I thought, well...I dunno. Rollergames may be a keeper!

Rollergames...you GOTTA be kidding me!

From the second I set-up this game it has given me nothing but joy. It's fast, addictive, has numerous ways to earn points, and keeps you wanting play another game to get a higher score; a very easy task. All the 80's ugly seems to add to the fun of this game for me now. I stand here playing Rollergames, rockin' along with the game, giggling to myself and shaking my head about how ridiclous the whole games looks and sounds...but also confused about how odd that this game is somehow so so good. I really don't understand the ugly...I was 12yrs old when this machine came out...it would have been ugly then, Im sure of it. What were they thinking when they made this?!?

Regardless, I love it. AND my family agrees! My wife loves it, my 1.5yr old goes straight to it, and my 3yr old now considers it the best game ever. He sings the (rock rock rockin' Rollergames) song around the house, and is telling me to "throw away Diner" because Rollergames game is the best game ever. Within minutes of him playing it he knew exactly what to do "get the ball in the hole and shoot it up the mountain". In those first few minutes playing, he pointed up to the backglass at the main dude on the leftside (Dirk McHandsome?), and shouted "Hey, it's Superman!". Ummmm, yeah, you know kid...he does look like Superman. So I went with it, why not? Superman can totally be part of Rollergames. This gives me an idea Pinside...how about a "kids only" top 100. It would be hilarious to see what the top games would be!

So there you go. Great game, stunningly cheap price for a Williams' game designed by Steve Ritchie, a ton of fun for little kids & male or female adults alike! Seriously, buy one when you see it for sale, you have absoultly NOTHING to lose.

AND what's with a rating of #171 on the top 100?!? Come on people. Go play a Rollergames, then get right back here and rate it well...I know you can do better than #171
