First Pin 2K, and its brilliant. And update on AFM, as the playfield is very similar and some of the modes are the same, but the monitor does add more depth to it. The virtual targets interact very well with the ball, and the humor in this game is very impressive. I did not enjoy this title when I first tried it, but now that I have it, it easily one of the best/funniest games I have played. "Mars Kneads Women".

I take my hat off to the design team of pinball 2000. The effort demands respect. RFM is a super fun game for adults and children alike.

A lot of people rag on this game due to its heritage but I think it is really good fun, it was a step in the right direction for Williams and such a shame we only got to see 1 more Pinball 2000 before they gave up on them. I always play this when I see one, would love to look at owning one some day.

I guess I am just not a fan of this machine and the attempt to change the display/head. I think the fact that only two games took it on and then it died, tells the truth better about the concept. If someone gave one to me, I would sell it and buy something else.

This is a totally different concept. I like the video, real nice, great game feature. Will it last, no, problem for me is that it is just not a pinball nor a video game. It is a mix that just not it. This machine together with SWEP1 makes it unique. The game is ok but I have difficulty with the ball returns from the upper playfield, I just watch the animation to much. I like the martians and the humor they put into it. Problem is that if you have seen it a few times, it just gets normal.....

never liked it from day one..i try it again whenever i see one and i always feel cheated it is a great all around machine, its cool but its just doesnt feel like typical pinball to me!! short small playfield, no back box... it has decent flow, plays smooth but not in the same league with AFM ,there is also a star wars machine like this one which is not as good...video pinball at the time ,1999, 2000,it seemed that pinball as we know it was going that way, so glad these two didnt change the market...RFM is o.k to play , unique and very different but definately not a keeper for me, u should give it a try just for the originality of the machine ,i do see young kids enjoying it more than me! so if you have space in ur collection it seems it can keep the young ones busy and getting them ready to advance into real pinball...im glad pinball was slightly saved, it will never be like the good old days!!!! but they r still making great low production machines to date!!!

Sorry i really wanted to like this. When I found it on location I was so excited to play it. I tried several games but was not for me. It was just too dark on top, no sure what I was hitting or why. Maybe better for home use so you can play over and over. For me 4 times was enough.

Lack of precision for the shots as the top part of the playfield is obstructed by the screen's reflection. The lighting is terrible as well. No fun at all. Could have been a good innovation but after having played this, I understand why pinball was so close to extinction at the end of the 90s.

I love the idea of combining the live action of pinball with video of a video game!!! BUT sadly this game falls short.

The game tends to feel like a "one trick pony" with the over used center shot.

This game was on my wish list until I recently played it and realized the last ability of it just isn't there.

The Pros: Pinball and Video Game combined! Sequel to Attack From Mars. Good callouts and sound.

The Cons: Center shot, center shot, center shot and then…….center shot. Playfield feels small and dark. The video monitor hanging over the playfield gives a feeling of claustrophobia.

The Take Away: Revenge From Mars while being a great idea just doesn’t work.

This game combines video with pin extremely well. Features are challenging, but attainable. Goals are challenging, but enjoyable. My only grip is that I like plungers and this has a launch button. Not a big deal considering how much fun this game is.

My hopes may have been too high going into this one because I love AFM. While the Pinball 2000 display is cool, it is absolutely a gimmick. I hate the way the upper playfield is essentially invisible because of the video, and sacrifices playability in order to provide excellent animations and video. Very similar to AFM's layout and toys, but pinball 2000 ruined it for me.

Meh- take it or leave it. Pinball 2000 premise could have been great if they would have been able to develope further.

Was close in buying this for my collection. But I think the monitor just adds another complexity to the machine. Does look quite fun to play though. Rather have the original. Like the theme..

Scratch that I did buy it. Awesome title and its proven reliable :-)

Revenge from Mars is ubiquitous and eye-catching if nothing else. But is it other things too - it's innovative and fun to play (though the call-outs and dialogue can get annoying if you're not in the mood - especially the Paris mode). I see this machine almost everywhere I go, and I usually will give in and play a few games even though I've played it many times already.

The pop-up jump ramp (does that thing have an official name?) is really fun, but watch out - if you don't land squarely on the back return platform, the ball can be headed straight for the drain while the machine counts your bonuses and chatters at you. Normally, the ball will jump the pop-up ramp and drop to the left of the upper playfield and come to a brief rest while the score counter rambles on (and the ball can be released by flipping), but don't let your guard down.

The skill shot is not ideal - one of the rollovers (the right one) in the upper-left PF is almost impossible to see through the reflection of the "3-D" screen. I also have trouble seeing where the ball capture hole is because of the reflection of the screen.

The Martian bank shots are risky and can be frustrating, but clearing them in the Martian Attack mode starts a multiball, so I can understand why they are difficult to hit.

Finally, the kickout hole on the right is way too easy to hit and usually only produces crap points / bonuses. The ball comes out quickly and a rapid flip at the returning ball will often send the ball right back into the hole, scoring nothing the second (and third, and fourth, and fifth) time the ball goes in. This can be frustrating because this catch and release repetition kills the flow of the game and can make it tedious. That hole is nearly the same on AFM, but that is one feature they could have changed without any complaints from me.

Those are mostly minor gripes - I can play this game over and over without too much fatigue. Extra balls are easy to come by and the Mothership multiball is pretty freaking awesome. For as much as the machine chatters at the player, it can be quite fun and interactive. I don't have it on my wishlist, mostly because it seems like I can throw a rock anywhere and hit Revenge, but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to own one if space allowed.

Also, as a side note, if you like pinball and haven't seen the documentary, "The Future of Pinball" (aka "Tilt: The Battle to Save Pinball"), check it out. You might appreciate Revenge from Mars even more after seeing the doc.

Don't know if i can consider pinball 2000 as a real pinball machine, i think this technology removes a few the original identity of the flipper.
However, the game is surprising, good flow and the PC game is well integrated.

I played this pin and it was fun. Good family game that kids would love. Kids like video games and this pin fits that with cool theme of fighting martians. Not that difficult of a game for me to get for my collection and I would be concerned with the monitor going out. Fun to play but not for me.

Outstanding game. I was extremely impressed with the animated playfield as it was the first time that I had ever seen anything like that in a pin.

I find this to be a great variation to a standard pin, awesome to have in a collection with a few other other standard pins.
As well noted, the back half of the game is dark and some people are put off by that, but you cant complain about the integration of the video graphics in the gameplay. I don't find myself playing this game for hours, but I do enjoy a game or two every day.

RFM is a fun game that is sure to attract attention from non-pinheads visiting your game room. In some ways, the discussion of the game has become over saturated. Considering there is a documentary about the game, there is little left to say about the concept of video game/pinball. All I can say is that it is integrated well and it is a shame that this platform did not have a chance to reach its potential. I echo some of the previous comments about lastability. The game has a very linear progression, which is no surprise given its video game qualities. With that said, it is worth owning at least once.

ATTACK !!!

RFM is a sequel to AFM

Aliens attacking earth - Yes Sir, I will save the planet from an invasion...

you start out by selection which mode you wish to start (either left side or right, center is NA)

you start you modes and interact with the Monitor based on Switch placement

when you complete you mission the center ramp flap pops and you shoot the center to exit the mode for completion .

I have owned 3 RFM and the all left for the same reason
its a video game ;-/

you see the same animations / same shots / call outs / etc

BUT WAIT - doesn't this same thing happen on a normal pin w/o the Pin2K ?

Yes on a normal pin you get same objectives and sounds, callouts etc.

but on a normal pin you have more freedom.. with the RFM you get to a point where the level is down the playfield is dead, all that is lit of the center flap cause the software for that level is completed

I am not saying RFM sucks ... please believe me I enjoyed it enough to buy 2 more after my first RFM

but with a solid player you blow through the game rather quickly.

have I beaten the game and gone back to Mars for the final battle, No
but I got bored by the time I got to the Mother M-Ball

you loose that WOW factor after you see the animations

will I buy another RFM - Yes if found for a fair price
