This one has a terrifle flow: many shots will just lead to a STDM or right to the outlanes. The ship on the back of the playfield is beautiful, but it serves no purpose at all, so I don't see why it was put there. They could have used the resources & space better.

Played this table a dozen times and found it very frustrating. The theme is nice, the sinking ship is neat, but the table seems set up to drain the ball a LOT. I think the flippers are set about 1/4 an inch too far apart in my opinion. I had a very hard time picking up any kind of steam with it. I would probably play it a lot more if I owned it, but pumping .75 per credit into it was just not a lot of fun for such a frustrating game.

EDIT: I played another Pirates at a different location and it was a TON of fun! I discovered that the operator of the other pirates table (A bowling alley in Irvine) has put different flippers on his machine, which appear to be slightly smaller than the stock flippers that came with the machine, which obviously causes the ball to drain more. also the peg that the ball bounces off of when exiting the hold after hitting the ship seems to have been removed, or modified so that the ball would be more likely to drop straight down the middle when released. It was also nearly impossible to go up the Tortuga ramp on the bowling alley machine, while the theme park machine would get me up it every time I hit the ramp.

Again, gave this a second chance in a new locationand had a ton of fun playing it! With the table in un-modified working order my games were much longer and enjoyable.

Extremely enjoyable home purchase. Play it all the time and don't regret the price tag one bit. Lots of neat multiballs and modes, too.

Overall was very fun to play, with lots of interesting little tidbits, though seemed like lastability might have be a bit of an issue.

One of my all time favorite games. Love the shots, flow, call outs. Deep enough to have long term fun but also a hit with non pin people who visit us as well.

I'm not as much of a fan of this theme as most people, so that's probably why I don't find it as enjoyable. It's a fun game, but not one of my favorite Sterns.

This machine is good, but the sound a bit weird, i cannot explain it!

the sinking ship is quite cool though!

Solid table that seems a bit lacking for a few reasons: Obvious Johnny Depp soundalike; little or no ties to Disneyland or the original attraction; that awful wheel. (I just don't like those kinds of targets.) But the game does have a certain unexplainable replayability, almost like it's daring you to beat it.

Had this pin in my collection for two years and me and my children just never really embraced it. The ship toy was really the only thing that this pin had going for it.

What a stormer of a table.
Dennis Nordman is my favorite designer, this table does not disappoint. The sinking ship is amazing and so satisfying. The chest is great and the spinning disk tops it all off.
A great table and a great design.

I personally hate the Pirates franchise, but this pin was a pleasant surprise. Decent flow, great toys and a very unique slingshot! If I owned this one, I would remove the ugly plastic ship protector!

Love the Pirates Movies, one of Depps better performances, the pinball machine is almost equally as good. One of Sterns better machines, love to sink the ship!!!!

Love the sinking ship. I like the highly visible playfield and it's artwork. Not a fan of the backglass.

I really was looking forward to this game when it came out but having played it many times it just is boring to me. Especially the lack of pace on the game. It seems the ball has no real movement throughout the game. To me there are just no real fun ramps or shots in the game.

I like the dead man's chest shot and the skill shot to drop the ball in the hole after it's plunged. I sank the ship, but the mech was not working. Shots are well lit, so it's clear what you have to do during play.

Nice fun machine with the ship being a truly unique toy. Artwork is great along with the sounds and is a blast to play, even though a bit on the easy and repetitive side.

Owned it for a while, definitely a one trick pony or should I say ship. Gets old fast took a pretty big hit since I purchased NIB.

I was surprised by this game. I really don't like the layout but I Love the sinking ship. I like the theme and art. It plays pretty good for an oddly laid out game. I didn't think I would like it but after 20 or so games in a small pub in the middle of nowhere...I kinda liked it. Even if it was the only pin for hundreds of miles.

I admit that I love me some gimmicks in pinball machines - and the ship in POTC fits the bill. It's a great eye-catcher and you immediately know you want to smack and sink the ship. But given time, you start to realize new strategies to maximize multiballs/scoring. The game has a lot of stop and go, which I like. I enjoy being able to figure out what my next shot is going to be, and most of the returns to the flippers are predictable and controllable. EXCEPT for the pirate targets - good GOD do I hate those suckers. They're placed in a way that you could easily hit one and drain SDTM. Still, savvy players will stay clear of them and learn to hit Tortuga, Ship and Chest. Many complain about the call outs (Johnny Depp impersonator), but I seriously don't notice it. The music is well done, the gimmicks are fun, and any machine with Keira Knightly on the backglass can't be all bad.

I have never owned a POTC, but I would love to add one to my collection. I have played it on location many times including many hours on a game in a bar on Duval St. in Key West, FL. The toy ship that actually sinks into the game is the best toy since the dinosaur on Jurassic Park. The spinning rubber disk that holds up to 3 balls is very cool and adds a lot to the game. The layout of the playfield including the compass inserts is appropriate for the game and adds a touch of class. Like Terminator, I am not sure it can stand the test of time as a theme, but a fun players game for all ages.
