AAB version of King Pin, a game that you just don't find often to play. I came across a Pin Up, played it for a bit and enjoyed the rule set, if I found one for sale I would consider purchasing for the rarity, play it if you find one, great theme to this game, a nice enjoyable pinball to play, update I found one and purchased it!

Classic Gottlieb playfield design is a fairly simple one with 2 kick-out saucers, 4 flippers and a bank of 10 drop targets. Still fun to play today.

Generally my preference is AAB games over their replay counter parts but in this instance I prefer King Pin.
Both games ate a bit flat. Nice little flippers at the top to hit the ten drop targets, but generally a stagnant game.
I remember playing both the replay and AAB games in the mud seventies and this didn't rate highly back in the halcyon days of my pinball career. Artwork good, especially bowling alley theme in play field. With tuning this could become a fast game, even so I feel there simply isn't enough to do.

Initially I was a bit disappointed in this game. Knock down the drop targets, chase the free ball and that is it? Well, yes and no. What caught me by surprise is that this is the game I always go to first. It is simple, pure pinball but it is always satisfying to drop that last drop target and then chase the wow for free balls and go for a high score. Artwork is pretty good for a 70's game and sounds are nice. Needs to be dialled in with all 4 flippers working optimally ( mine aren't there yet ).
Sometimes games don't need to be complex to be fun and this is an example. This could well end up being a keeper. Will update in 6 - 12 months.

I had the pleasure of restoring a very fine example of this game. As others have mentioned, great art package and build quality was unrivaled in it's day. I have also owned the replay version (King Pin), and honestly prefer the deeper ruleset of that game. While Pin-Up is fun, I find it one dimensional for longer term game play. Knock all targets down, chase the lit spot(s), rinse and repeat.......not every AAB game feels this way, but sadly, that is my experience. For AAB junkies, still a great addition to a line up, but not all on it's own.
