This game makes you a better nudger.

Being an older EM, the gimmick of the game is pretty simple: you're trying to light up all the evens and odds to unlock the extra ball, bonus points and special. Your first main chance at getting these is after you launch the ball. Nudging makes it MUCH more likely to get more of them

Second, the flipper slingshots almost seem to aim for the side outlanes. Frequently the ball gets passed back and forth between the two, riding up the playfield, until it drains. Nudging is the only way to get out.

Compared to newer games, targets are really hard to aim for. The side ramps are really hard to hit intentionally. I'm sure there's a way, but I haven't figured it out yet (I'll be a ton better at this game once I do). The center eject is also very finicky.

Finally, I'd add that there is a "secret" easy mode to this game that I only found out about looking for youtube videos to help me fix mine up. There's a jumper jones plug in the cabinet that will make the even and odd numbers click off in pairs (except 3 and 8), as opposed to individually.

Mine came with this installed, others haven't, which could explain the large variability in high scores found online. Without knowledge of this specific game, it's hard to realize this can change from machine to machine.

I didnt expect much from this game it didnt stand out when i got it, i added extra lighting and it made it pop. This machine plays well and the playfield have a nice look. The back glass art could have been better but i love that machine overall

The theme is carried well throughout the pin, and the "chips/buttons" rollovers also go well with the theme. It takes multiple trips back to the top to get all the rollover buttons. I also like the mushrooms for opening the gates. Overall, this is an enjoyable EM and I look forward to playing it again.

Good layout, long or short shot on the left side. Long for the buttons, short for getting the extra ball.
Right for scoring or free games. The two mushrooms for opening the gates.
Post for keeping the ball in play, a good compensation for the wide open left and right ball drain.

Down side: the center kickouthole, 5000 when lit and keeping the ball getting in there can be boring.

Very good combination of name, art and featuring.

Odds and Evens is a great looking game from Jim Patla, Dave Christensen and the Bally team.

The Pros:
"Mad Dog" Christensen once again represents the epitome of pinball artwork. This deck is beautiful. The ladies with the curves are always a welcome sight. The gameplay is solid and requires many trips back to the top of the PF to roll over all the tic-tacs that light up the PF features. I like the saucer on the left orbit as a hard shot passes it, but a softer/indirect bounce from the pops will land in it.

The Cons:
That exit from the right lane has a nasty habit of either draining on exit or hitting the left sling to the right outline. AGH! The center saucer is more luck than skill and many times, the ball passes over the saucer to or from the flippers without scoring.

The Takeaway:
This game is proof positive that Master Zale lives on through his students at Bally Pinball. Expect a challenge from this table and have a great time while you curse your skill and luck.

Pros : good fit with the theme, decent artwork, Original bonus system
Cons : the ten rollovers feel like a bingo or lottery. The central saucer is a deadly shot. Greedy outlanes.

This is great EM, fun and challenging to play. Due to features it's a big job for Mr RepairMan. If you want to get to know how EM work, go for a simpler game and leave this for when you get your confidence up. For me this game is a keeper.

Thinking about my original rating for this machine I think I rated it against SS which is wrong. This machine has a great back glass and probably had some of the best features for its time. It's now 40 years old and still plays well.
