I Actually Played a Medieval Madness

Written by pudealee, published April 2nd, 2015. 7 comment(s).

Back when these machines were "affordable," I was actually able to play one. It was at a truck-stop on Hwy 78, right on the loop in Atlanta - this had to be a dozen years ago. I liked the machine, and it played well. I wasn't all sure why everybody was totally enamored with it (at the time). I do remember it had a yellow "for sale" sticker on the back-glass.

Oh well....

I have never played an original, but I hope to get to at least try one of the remakes.

They have one at The Silverball Museum in Asbury, NJ.
The game is great fun. Knocking down the draw bridge and destroying the castle does not get old. And the trolls that pop out of the playfield is a great touch.
I wish they were a little cheaper but for now I just go to the boardwalk in Asbury whenever I get a hankering to play.

This is the game to got me into Pinball. I went on to the pinball map and found one at SS billiards in Minnesota. As a beginner me and my friends(and wife) were immediately drawn to the game even after playing other top titles there. This was few months ago and now there are two remakes around town for public play. SS(one old and one new) and Morts, after playing it there and playing it on Pinball Arcade I am full on hooked on that game and Pinball.

You can still play one at a truck stop, well a gas station anyway, near the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The gas station is called Flippers and they have most of the "rare" pins, like Cactus Canyon, Big Bang Bar, and Medieval Madness. Load up on quarters and go nuts.

I played one back in 2009 at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, it didn't impress me that much, I guess I didn't play it long to enjoy it. I'm a fan of early solid state machines.

I play one every year at Jilly's on the board walk of Ocean City NJ. Best part is its only a quarter per game. They also have KISS and about 10 other pins. Great place to spend a few hours.
