I'm sure if you spend time on this game it will really kick butt! Very fun right off the bat but didn't get too much out of it. Definitely fun and the theme was great. Monty Python is obviously the target here and it really is great all the way around. The sound is eh, mediocre. The lighting on the one I played was dim. The animations are average/decent. But the game is definitely cool and fun.

Update :. Played a brilliant example and it's a masterpiece. Games that are well maintained really make the experience so much better. Ramos on this are some of the best. The castle, the lock mech, catapult, the trolls.

The callouts are amusing, even if they don't help in gameplay that much.

This game is great. I can remember the first few times playing this in the local movie theater. Always lots of fun. I dont fully understand all of the aspects of the artwork. Honestly I love the shots although they seem to get bit repetitive.

J Youssi art is as usual, awesome!!
The call outs and comments are hilarious.
The flow is alright, The castle really kind of slows things down throughout for me...
It is however a really fun game to play and everyone seems to find that to be the case!

All time classic that draws a crowd. The trolls, drawbridge, portcullis and exploding castle have got to be the best pinball toys. Brilliantly themed, with fun call outs and awesome artwork - the translite, PF and cabinet artwork are the complete package.

Enough has been said about Medieval Madness over the years, but it's my favorite all-around table -- one of the few I'll play every time wherever I find it. This game nails its theme and does so in a fun, creative, and humorous way that never seems to get old. It's the highest on my wishlist and my answer to the desert island scenario "if you could only have one" question. I'm sure the theme isn't for everyone, but I'm not sure I want to meet the person that can't have fun playing this machine.

Perfect world under glass with an all time great theme. Awesome call outs. Rules are deep enough to keep you coming back for a long time, wizard mode is tough but feels possible to achieve. Overall an extremely well designed game that is a total package. A masterpiece no doubt.

Yes it's fun. Yes it is Monty Python. Yes it is one of the top games for a reason: Exploding Castle!

I do find it fun and had been wanting one for years. Now I know why it is in top demand as it is enjoyable time after time.

Layout similar to AFM, but different. I can play both and shoot up the middle or go for that Damsel ramp, so it's enough variation for me.

Fantastic game with simple rules that are easy to understand, solid artwork, hilarious callouts and music. I don't love the medieval theme but this game is so good that it sucks me in nonetheless - it just works. This hits most buttons for me, the gameplay, the music and the callouts. Top 10 game and the best of the classics.

This game is #1 for a reason. Played it on vpx for years then in bars and finally had an opportunity to own my own. I was nervous about the longterm reliability on the remakes and am confident in my ability to fix issues on the wpc95 platform so I went with the original. Simple enough for new players to have a blast. Possibly the best toys in pinball. Most games last about a year in my 5 to 6 game lineup so well see if it ends up getting old but for now I can't stop playing it!

For most people it's a grail pin. For me it's okay, solid game and fun but not something I run back to time and again or have any desire to own.

Timeless classic. Theres not much not to love about this game. Everything about it oozes personality and fits the theme perfectly. One of the all time best toys and great humour in the call outs as well.

Not worthy of my quarters.... not sure how this makes it in the top 100 even.

My very first pinball machine, great to get into the hobby - needless to say, this got not only me, but also many of my friends hooked on pinball. Clear rules, clear progression, a lot of depth and strategy for a 90s pin. Just overall an amazing machine, wouldn't have ever let this go if not for space limitations...

Super fun classic. The callouts are pretty good (Tina Fey was in it) but are still limited and can get a little repetitive after a while. The ramp shots are difficult and blowing up all of the castles takes skill. Owned it years ago but ended up trading it.

All my reviews are going to follow a simple formula for those reading.
Number of shots to make - Pro's - Con's - Must Have Mods - What To Look For When Buying

Number of shots - 8 High

Pro's:
* All the shots are fun! The castle destroyed one in particular and it’s a good show
* Anyone can walk up to the machine, play it and feel they have achieved something with their first Castle destroyed
* Lastability - this is not easy to complete, deeper than Attack From Mars
* The catapult shot is a nice addition with a challenging multiball attached to it
* The 3 part sequence to destroying a castle is also well thought out

Cons:
* Bashing the castle over and over can be enough to get a high score on its own
* It is similar to Attack From Mars, even my comments are similar
* Getting a ball stuck behind the right troll is highly frustrating

Must Have Mods: (Note I will not include things like LED's, Color DMD, Invisiglass or Speaker Upgrades unless it's really badly needed)
* Tilt Graphics Apron magnet
* Cliffy set, in particular near the castle
* Custom painting the castle and dragon really enhances the game

What To Look For When Buying
* Condition of the castle mechanism, errors can occur returning to its place after explosion
* Wear around trolls
* Wear where the ball drops at the damsel

Medieval madness is one of my favorite titles. They did so much right with this game.

The castle is arguably one of the coolest gimmicks in any pinball machine and the trolls just feel like an awesome bonus.

The playfield is loaded with cool and rewarding shots. That right ramp shot can be quite difficult if it is not hit perfectly.

The rules of the game are somewhat easy to learn, however deep enough that both new and old players can have fun with.

Matt (39 years old) - Fun callouts and smooth shots. Color DMD and shaker are so worth it. Loved Attack from Mars, and the trolls and damsel shots are an upgrade. Clever theme, naming and playfield art. Eddy definitely had a formula. But it works for me.

Gram (6 years old) - it is the favorite game we have. you have to hit the castle three times to open the gate. There is Merlin magic.

Medieval Madness is a blast to play. The ruleset is easy to learn and understand, and the gameplay is fun whether you're a beginner or expert. Playfield layout is simple, but well designed. Great toys (castle, gate, trolls, etc), and the entire machine just comes alive during play. It's fun, engaging, perhaps a little simple, but deserving of the many top spots it rates on.
