Is a very fun game and was grateful to have the opportunity to play it. The lighting is very low and hard to see the playfield. The drop targets were bare (no decals) and you don't want to modify this from its initial state. The slot machine theme and DDM were very nice as were the plastic ramps (nice flow).

"Kingpin" is so frustrating.

On the one hand, it feels so incredibly easy. Hitting ramps and orbits along with little targets on corners is so easy. The Hotel Lex shot is easy as well. The flow of the game is easy to control and you can almost always control the ball and make it bend to your will. The hard part is after the discovery of the Kingpin's Vault and then you have to shoot four balls at green targets which you can't hit to save your life because the game plays so fast, it's impossible to accurately line up a shot and shoot it where you want it to go. Most of the time, you miss or the ball hits another ball and it goes nowhere.

The audio on the game is great. The voices of the gangsters do grate from time to time (they say the same exact thing at the beginning of each of the player's missions) but they're fun to hear. The theme song, a 40's style ditty, is cute but also grates and there's no real change to the theme until you get to a boss fight.

The biggest problem with the game is the software. I've played this game live, in-person and on VPX...and the rom's trigger is so badly flawed, you have to wait anywhere between immediately to almost 30 seconds for the game to react if you hit the Lex after completing a mission. Did Capcom ever patch the rom because no matter where I go to play it, the problem persists.

In any case, it's a fun game, if a little too geared toward novice players.

With updated rules this game could really be something. Good theme, lots of fun shots and pretty good rules as they are. Getting to and knocking off the Kingpin isn't easy. The shot to the Lex hotel is the only semi-lame shot, the rest are really pretty good. Great theme, animations and art. Looking forward to the remake to see what they do with it. A few tweaks here and there and this will be close to a classic.

I have had the opportunity to play this machine several times via shows, and it always been enjoyable.

The game design and shot flow is solid.
Theme integration is excellent.
Artwork was atmospheric.
Backglass is eye catching.
Color choices were good.
Initial design animation quality reminds me of BBB.
Callouts are incomplete.
Ruleset is incomplete.
Music and sounds are incomplete.
Modes are incomplete.

If the game was overhauled and finished, it would get a better rating.
Intelligent basic question to pinball "enthusiasts".
How can you rate an incomplete prototype machine a 9+ when the code and design is not finished?
Answer?
You cannot.
Do you seriously live in another pinball universe?
Clearly people do here on PinSide.
You might as well start scoring games in whitewood stage as well.
"Stern Ghostbusters, 10/10, absolutely"! (sarcasm).

It deserves to be remade and completed, but should not be put on a gaming pedestal.
Why?
New collectors are just going to get disappointed like the first time they play BBB.
It is not a "holy grail".

Great game!!! Got to play it at PAGG 2014, and I think this game along with BBB would have saved Capcom if they had released this. Great modes and shots, and certainly a game that will go up in value!!!

Played this several times at CAX. it's a beautiful game and a shame more weren't made. Great original theme! I rated it the best I could based on limited play, but initial impressions are very positive.

Update 2018: I got a chance to play this game some more at TPF. I still think this is a beautiful game, with some fun shots. However, I had it rated extremely high before. I still think it's a very good game, but I've revised some of my game design ratings from Excellent to Good, just not (yet?)in my personal top 10.

Fortunate to play one of these last year. Great flow, awesome theme and dmd animation. Classic Mark Ritchie. Hope this gets remade.

Played this a few times and have to say my rating are based that there is really no other game like this one. The theme is cool and the ramp lifting to reveal a secret hideout was awesome. Seems a little incomplete but there were only 9 made. Might be this when they remake them.

It is a shame that only 9 of these machines were made and Capcom never quite finished developing the software. This could have been the best pin ever designed.
