Most of my ratings for JP would be right in that decent rating. This game is pretty cool and the t-Rex eating the ball is something to see. However, I thought the ramps were difficult to hit, and even the t-Rex shot is quite random to accomplish.

I've gone back and forth with JP since I bought it a little over a year ago. Is it a super flowing rampfest? No. Not in the least, and you will be disappointed if you treat it as such. However, once you learn the shots (damn those scoop feel good when the ball goes *schunk* into them) you will be rewarded with a pulse pounding beast of a machine. When you slop shots you'll hit posts all day and think it's a clunky game. Learn the rules and keep your eye on the current goal and you'll have a great time. Double Choas into feeding trex, then laps on the victory ramp finishing back into trex is some of the best pinball I have ever experienced.

The Bad....
Whats the point of hitting targets if TriBall is gonna just be handed to you anyway?
Stampede...over and over again, why wouldn't they program a random mode to start from?
Flippers must be perfectly aligned to make shots...and i mean perfectly aligned
Playfield lighting at back is lacking.
Hard to find one with the topper still intact :o

The Good....
Shaker Motor incorporated well.
System Failure mode....clever
6 Ball Multi Ball.
T-Rex toy
Smart missile
Deepish hard game play.

*Updated now that i've shopped it and played it more.

Still fun machine kids love it.

Game is very clunky. Could have been so much better. Rating is way too high.

It's not a killer pin but it's totally a respectable one. Something I always enjoy playing and also a very good pinball introduction platform for people and kids.
Considering it's not really expensive I'm even thinking to buy one.

I was not initially a fan of this game but it did grow on me. Relatively easy play and playfield. I do like the Smart Bomb feature. I do enjoy this from time to time but would probably grow tired of it if I had one of my own.

I loved playing this game in the arcade as a kid. This one was one of my top 3 favorites. What kid could resist T-Rex eating a pinball? I wasn't always crazy about pinball machines when I was little, but this one pulled me in and had me playing several games in a row at least at the local arcades. If I saw it, I HAD to play it. I got the chance to play one again somewhat recently, and it lived up to all of the fond memories I had of it, unlike may other pins I played as a kid, so I bought one!

Not the best music (the non-John Williams stuff), playfield art is so-so, but the game play is fun as hell, as long as T-Rex behaves.

One of the titles that are really apart of my youth. The movie came out and literally blew me away! I was obsessed with the movie and this pin was at the theater. Go figure lol. I really like the pin and like DE pins but I really dislike the only way to advance is the control room and for whatever reason, it was always broken so advances was a no go most of the time. The other thing that is unique on this pin is the missile attack :-)

Fun game overall. The Dino toy is always fun. The Raptor pit is so cool. When the ball comes flying back at you it can startle you even after 100 plays. Great theme. LOVE the cab. Playfield is terrible looking with the artwork. Kids love this game and non-pinball people want to try it. My issue is it breaks down ALL THE TIME. It is down waiting for parts a lot. Still it is a fun game and deserves its spot in the top 50.

This is a great family oriented pin that guarantees a multiball for the young ones by hitting the smart missile button. The dinosaur eating the ball will be a sure hit at parties. With that said, I find the game to become fairly repetitive has you go along with a slight lack in "modes" or missions. But beside it's pitfalls JP stands besides great pins and stands it's ground.

One of the better DE pins.. This would definitely pull in quarters at the local pizza parlor. I have one of these at the home town Kiwanis Club they use for charity events and the kids just love it. Personally the shaker motor is over used to the point of distraction but it's easy enough to turn off. Sounds are good but the back ground music gets a bit much. My higher rating is due to it being a DE but has the feel of a quality pin and it really looks great next to other W/B machines.

Fun Pin The T Rex is great for the game. The shaker motor really adds to the pin. A fun pin for all levels.

GOOD- great interaction with LED board for launching ball / shooting raptor. Missile shot a awesome addition, and as others said it's the critical factor in game play. Raptor eating ball is just super cool.
BAD- playfield is just week. not very well laid out, and after playing a while was frustrated with how the shots for features were not lined out very well- very weird angles. Not a whole lot in the midfield to keep attention. seems so close- but not quite there. a bit better planning and I think it would have been an awesome game.
UGLY- 'NEWWWWMAN' right in the middle of the field. Art work is just sloppy and cheezy.

The T-Rex is cool. Be on the ball as you don't know where the ball will emerge. Not a fan of the side pops. Animations are fun & add to the playability. Flow is a bit stunted. The machine we played on location was in need of service. I'll look for one in better condition & give it another try.
New rating is based on owning this fully functioning dialed in pin.

didnt enjoy this game, thought the vuk,s are way to close to the flippers and the ball kept going in there, the dinosaur head is cool, just not my sort of game,i was glad when the credits ran out...

Maybe the best toy ever with the ball eating T-Rex. Great use of shaker motor with gameplay and I think the modes are great; triball, chaos, and system failure. Great fun and addicting!

A very tough and frustrating game at times, but that's what keeps you coming back for more. Love the wizard mode, System Failure, and the CHAOS feature, which can be difficult to obtain, but very rewarding. The Raptor Pit is a nice touch and speed at which the ball fires back at you is often surprising and exciting. The design seems to borrow from a few games, most notably WW and TAF, but I think it's a good blend and makes for a terrific game. The smart missile is another great feature that is well integrated into the game and if used at the appropriate time, can lead to a much higher score.

Fun game, artworks is poor, but that doesn't affect the game play.

In a way, I wish I didn't sell my JP. The kids loved the trex toy. For some reason, the game ate me up. The DE artwork sucked but I liked the rest of the game.

The Good: This was my 1st pin that I owned. This is a fast & fun game to play. Lots of modes, some are easy, some are difficult. TRex is one of the better mechanical devices in a pin.

The Bad: Scoops & TRex kickout are known to get worn, especially on a routed machine. Cliffys fix this (Thanks Cliffy!)

The Ugly: Playfield art looks like someone drew a very nice playfield and then left it out in the sun and it melted. JUST MY OPINION, I AM NOT AN ARTIST. Other pins around this time have a similar look, andI assume it is the same artist.

It's a good game but I wouldnt go sor far as saying great. The theme is fantastic and incorperated well.

The T-Rex is by far the coolest thing on the machine, and the shaker goes great with it.

Im just always jeft feeling like somthing more could have been done. A couple more skill shots and it would be a great game.

I was impressed with this game and how much fun I had playing it. The T-rex is a cool toy and the game kept me coming back for more, which is rare for a Data East Machine. TFTC and JP are my two favorite Data East machines.

I picked up JP last month and the game is pretty fun. Between this and TFTC they are the 2 better DE games. The smart missile is unique to pinball and mixes an element of strategy and luck that is not available in other pins.
