This is my first nib stern pin ever! I was super exited when they released their next game as Iron Maiden! I love the band but was quickly scared it was going to be produced poorly if not done right. So not being bias here! After photo releases I was thrilled! The artwork is amazing throughout! Sound quality I’m guessing for a base stern is not the greatest. I had to adjust a leg and while I was underneath the Cab it sounded a little fuzzy. Slightly disappointing but I guess that’s why they sell speaker upgrades. Sure sure lack of toys but whatever. I don’t get a hard on over toys. Shots are great and plenty of them. The biggest complaints are lack of the band itself and the animation. However the call outs are awesome! “Welcome to my world.... under glass”. Also love “the loneliness of the short distance flipper” . That happens when the top left flipper was last hit and drains. It’s a good quirk to their song “The loneliness of the long distance runner.” Love the loop shots! Especially holding the left flipper up to have a more accurate shot on the left loop.
Overall this machine is incredibly addictive! Very hard to get to beast/wizard mode.
I wanted to buy this game without playing it as my 1st nib pin but I had 2 different locations nearby that had it before I could purchase it. 1 was an LE and the other a pro. For the price differene either or will fill the player void. The sarcophagus lock on the Le/premium is awesome but just can’t justify the cash difference. Was very curious to see what the mirrored back glass on the LE’s were gonna be. The mirroring is very thin. looks good as far as the artwork goes in general but not too impressed. As the mirroring is not that noticeable compared to your older back glasses.
So yeah, this machine is incredible! Love the layout! Very addicting! Artwork a solid 10! Great shots throughout!

A breathe of fresh air from stern. Best game since Metallica

Iron Maiden, as a theme, is a major turn off for me, so it says a lot about the game that I keep going back to play it. Elwin's design here is great, and it really overcomes my hesitations about the theme and music. It's so refreshing to see a layout in pinball that isn't your standard fan layout paired with a rule set that rewards accurate and deliberate shooting. Iron Maiden has both.

The upgrades on the Premium/LE aren't critical, but they are nice. The sarcophagus lock is great, and I love the diverter behind the backboard. Beyond that, I think the pro features are sufficient, so one shouldn't hesitate to "settle" for a pro on this game.

The ball times are extremely long, and it's not too much of an issue when playing alone, but playing with 3-4 players starts to feel cumbersome. If you play with friends often or use machines for competition, the ball times will become a bit of an issue. You can always make the game more difficult through setup (open outlanes, tight tilt, etc.), but the game sort of demands longer ball times to see everything in the game.

And boy, this game has A LOT going on. There are a ton of modes, multiballs, hurry ups, and combos. It'll be a while before you run out of new things to see, and they're still adding stuff to the game with updates at a good pace. Even high level players have some work to do in order to see all the game has to offer, and few have been able to run through all the game's content.

This is a great start for Keith Elwin and his career in pinball design. It's hard not to call this game anything but a winner.

Even better then the pro. Not sure if it is worth the price jump, but I love the physical lock and the cool color changing beacon. My favorite Stern to date.

Wow! Pinball utopia has arrived. Thank you Lord!

i just bought the premium
it is the best stern game ever imo. before i purchased this game i put in at least 50 games on friends machine and on location and there seems to be no end to the fun factor for this game. on top of that, i love iron maiden anyways, so i am absolutely thrilled that this machine came out so well. congrats to stern, elwin, and zombie. they created a fantastic game which will be historically great. i consider this the medieval madness of the new generation of pinball.

1.0 code really tightens up what KM(F!)E was trying to lay down when he was designing the premium/LE features.
Probably one of the top 10 modern layouts of all time I’ve ever had the pleasure of flipping.
(Being a huge Maiden fan is also a bonus.)
In all honesty though,
It could’ve been My Little Pony and people would still be snatching this game up, it plays that damn good!
Am I happy with the way the two 360 Newtons are designed? No, not really.
Sarcophagus mech reliable? Finally, yes...but only with some roller switch replacement.

Displays and animations fit the theme and the info screen is well thought out from a player’s standpoint. Scoring is visible for all players at all times which is very refreshing.
The font isn’t the greatest, but it IS easy to read/understand.

Once all the minor switch $#!t is fixed and you get the full Maiden experience in front of you, it’s amazingly good. Multiball starts are well sequenced, light and audio cues are top notch, and of course the music is weaving all of this fanfare into a cohesive story that whisks you away to “Maidenland”, where our favorite metal anti-hero Eddie, is struggling to get his soul back in one piece so he can have some good old fashion payback-showdown with the Devil himself!

I can’t wait to see what KM(F!)E has up his sleeve for the second game and I’m fairly certain, I’m not alone!

Wow. Just wow! What a great effort by both Elwin and Yeti. They both knocked this dead. Believe me when I say that photos do not do this justice, none of them that I have seen bring out the true colors, detailing and highlights. There is so much to shoot for/at in this game it is hard to wrap your head around. A players pin and fun for hacks as well. Very fair table, no cheap drains unless you get very unlucky. This pin is way too much fun right out of the box and will only get better as I figure out the rules. I don't think the LE and Premium justify their prices with the extras that are included, but that being said the ball lock features, rising ramp and newton balls do really add to the great play of the pin. And, the LE might just be the best looking pin, ever (and I am not a Maiden fan). Elwin will have trouble topping this, a solid top-five pin, Imo.

Amazing game. Layout is one of the best I've ever played - lots of flow, love the loops, and so many shots. I can't think of a single way the layout could be improved... Keith Elwin KILLED it! The rules are exceptional and best of all - FUN and not super repetitive. Everything about this machine is a win, and Stern set the bar very high for future pins.

Just purchased a Premium and updated the game code. Whether or not a fan of Iron Maiden makes no difference this pin is fantastic. Well thought out play field with great flow. IMO one of Stern's all time best!

I was lucky enough to get the LE. There are only two negative things I can say about this game ...

(1) they could of done so much better on the cabinet art - so many cool Eddie art throughout the years and this is what they come up with! since when did you see two Eddie's in the same vehicle / plane? I am shocked maiden approved the art, but it is what it is. I will say looks much better in person then the pics, so glad about that.

(2) the toys are very lame in the game. again stern thinks they put four flippers and now, wait, we need to cut back on toys to make 200% profit. If I wasn't such a die hard maiden fan and this is a dream theme for me then I would of just got a pro. The extra money is not worth getting the LE or even premium. Stern will just make a vault in 2 years or a spin off like "number of the beast" edition :-)

Now for the positives ...

- Awesome playfield layout: finally something a bit different then standard fan layout!
- Music is great of course: I would of picked a few different songs, but I guess they were looking at non-metal folks playing this game.
- Animations are very well done in my opinion. I am actually surprised at some who complain about the animations in this game, including SDTM guys. Really?? I am actually amazed at how they made Eddie come alive - great job IMO. It beats the annoying animations in Aerosmith or the lame movie clips from GOTG and Star Wars. If I wanted to see clips from a movie I can watch the entire movie - no effort in my opinion when it comes to taking clips from movies. Look at the difference when Stern uses dots in or lame clips from movies (i.e. spiderman or GOT) - easy way out.
- Rules: very well implemented. I can't say anything negative about the rules at all ... makes you take risks and just different then other games. Remind me a bit like the 90s Williams/Bally games.

Best Pin i have ever owned. They will bury me in it or burn me with it.

Great game but absolutely hate the music. I wish another choice was made for the music. Not a buyer because of that.

The hype is real. I've been playing non-stop for the past two weeks... I've had games approaching a billion and I still have not made it to several of the wizard modes. Shots, light show, programming, artwork, audio... all top notch. No bash toy? Hallelujah.

What an amazing first game from a rookie team. If you're remotely into the theme, this is an absolute no-brainer.

I've never been a true Iron Maiden fan, but I think I may start to be. This is just one of those games that when you saw it, you knew it was special...a world under glass! A VERY refreshing design from Stern Pinball!

Stern FINALLY released a game with solid code right out of the starting gate. I had one gripe about the code, but that seems to have been rectified (.97 seemed to start too frequently in Flight of Icarus).

The playfield features, layout and rules clearly have a considerable amount of thought given to them. The differentiation in modes is nice and keep gameplay interesting. There's plenty to do and and what is there is fun! Don't let the amount of mode inserts fool you. There things hidden in the game that will keep you coming back for more. No action button is a plus! Some people whine about the quality of the animations, but I think they're spot on. You're playing pinball, not watching a movie. The LCD also keep you well informed of what's going on and your progress. This game is so good, the only rating ding I can think of would be a lack of toys and gimmicks, however, the Sarcophagus Lock is pretty cool. I'm actually happy there's no giant bash toy staring at me.

All you need to say about the artwork is Zombi Yeti. He helps bring you into the Iron Maiden world. I had originally ordered a premium, but when an LE came up locally at a decent price, I jumped. After the reveal of the premium artwork, I was glad I had grabbed the LE. I personally prefer the LE artwork. This game is parked on the end of the row so everyone can see it! LOOK AT ALL THOSE EDDIES!

I was very happy with the music and the sound quality. Add a Pin-Vol and free standing subwoofer and you're right there where you want to be.

As for the lighting, although I am not a fan of the typical color bombed GI, I do love the color changing GI in this game and most games that have it. I think it's a real mood enhancer, especially with the mode music and animations.

I have absolutely zero buyer regrets upgrading to the LE and expect this game to stay here for a VERY LONG TIME!

I finally got to try a Premium this weekend and I just don't get people's blanket 10 ratings on this. Yes, a refreshingly original layout which is really nice. But no real innovation in playfield toys and basically sparse. Great, the ball moves around in circles smoothly (ooooh, flow). The animations are just silly IMO and how do you have a pin themed after a band without having things like guitars, speakers, a stage, band members, etc. Something?? Instead you get Egyptians, soldiers, Satan, and ghouls?? Okaaaay. I just don't understand how you put a game like this next to Twilight Zone or Medieval Madness and pretend it's anywhere near as fun or innovative (much less ahead of it in ratings.) Pinside ratings have officially jumped the shark.

What a home run Keith hit here. Outstanding Stern code right out of the chute is just one of the many pieces of awesomeness that is Iron Maiden. Even if you don't care for the band, the music MAKES YOU WANT TO PLAY PINBALL! Theme integration was spot on, but it's the incredible shot flow and unique playfield layout that makes this one of the best Sterns ever produced. Great fun, regardless of the Pro vs. Premium/LE versions, incredible replay factor, gorgeous art and displays, and exactly what a modern game should be.

Theres a new era in pinball with keith elwins design. This game is so fresh and amazing, if you havent played it yet then what are you waiting for. Im a huge iron maiden fan and love the LE design and features. Added a subwoofer to it and its mindblowing!

Just wow, all around. Definitely the best new Stern in years.

Why did I rate this so high? It has the fastest most flowey double loop 4 flipper layout. All the shots are enjoyable to make. Love the center ramp and that it transforms. Love the two different ways to lock balls. Like the main loop and the far left shot into the bumpers. Keeps things moving. Theme is great, dark and fun. Great sfx and music. Great colors art and lighting. The rules are fun and has good rewards for combos. Multiballs are crazy. Shots are just tough enough and not stupid. And there are so many shots!! This is easily the best pinball machine ever made. Pure excitement. Makes my AFM LE seem a little old fashioned and simple and I love that machine. Iron Maiden LE is so much fan and has bling! And I’m not a huge Iron Maiden fan.

Game Lighting 5/6 is for the red GI that I think hides some of the artwork slightly. White would have looked better for me personally.
Sound Quality 5/6 only because at high volumes my speakers clip a bit. Maybe a better powered amp should have been used.

little deception at first for the lack of toys, but the hand on flipper is awsome, fast , deep and a lot of fun. The sound is really great, i forget rapidly the lack of toys because the flow is simply perfect and the game is near to be perfect too.

My favorite band and one of my favorite pinball, fast and furious, i love it. A lot to do and certainly a keeper.

The LE! To begin, I was initially upset about how the game was released, showing art right before shipping each model rather than giving us pinballers a chance to see all three options before plunging for the model of our choosing, but after receiving my game and playing it for a weekend I must say that I am simmered down and finding the art to be quite exceptional on the LE, though I still personally feel the premium has the best overall package for my tastes. Regardless, this game is really fun, vivid, and the metallic ink on the sides and mirrored backglass make this game pop unlike any other game in my collection.

I am not going to frantically report that the game is the best ever by Stern or even in their top ten as it's just too soon... but it is quite a fun experience and my current favorite in my home collection (though I'm putting it out on location soon anyways). With that being said I do still feel that the features on this one are a bit light, in that the toys are fairly insignificant & the innovations aren't really huge (standup newton ball target and newton ball lock multiball). The music is what it is, a collection of some of Iron Maidens best with Bruce, but in my case I am far more of a fan of the first two albums so the music isn't exactly the biggest draw. Callouts are nice and clear, and the sfx fit just right.

As far as gameplay gripes go, the only takeaway right now is the ball does have quite a few spots it gets stuck which is kinda surprising, and if not setup absolutely perfect it can also feel a bit clunky, especially in regards to the auto plunger shot not making it's way all around the orbit it's supposed to take automatically. However, the shots do really flow once you get a good game going with the perfect setup/leveling, so take the extra time to make sure it plays just right, and you'll love it!

So glad they took Keith's design, its refreshing to see 4 flippers and different playfield from the fan layout.

This game was cooked in keiths brain for a long time and he has put all is knowledge of pinball to make this game so hot out of the box !

The Flow, callouts, animation, art and codes are amazing .

D'ont take my word for it , Find one and play it , you'll get why everyone is excited to get this game...everything fits !
