Indy 500 is fast, furious and full of fun. It's a real adrenaline rush and the gameplay links beautifully with the theme.

Indy car racing is not hugely popular in the US. That combined with low production has kept this a hidden gem for years. This game is fast, fun, has great music, animations and an excellent video mode. The call outs in this game are outstanding using real Indy 500 announcers. The way they banter back and forth is perfect. I love how humor is worked into this game which was pleasantly unexpected. Some of the rules are very well thought out. Pit stop multi ball for example the faster you hit the ramp the quicker you get out of the pit and the more cars you beat. The more cars you beat, the more jackpots available in multiball....genius! Tons of modes to play and they added extra things to achieve 200 laps, passing cars to get into pole position etc. that add to the replayability. Complete these tasks for a Victory Lap jackpot. Trying to get this with 3x playfield scoring will keep you coming back for more. Turbo lock is awesome and keeps everything moving fast. Not everything is perfect...no wizard mode is a bummer, original light up target design will have them broken almost guaranteed, and a few things with the code could use tweaking (super light ups scoring, souvenirs reward). But this game for me is just as good as any of the "A" list games.

A solid pin overall. The turbo loop combo is really fun to hit, even though the turbo shot is the only shot available with the upper flipper. The turbocharger toy, with matching sound effect, is an awesome part of the game that will make any gearhead smile. It is challenging to hit all of the modes in this game, and there isn't a wizard mode, but getting all the laps and modes is a challenge all in its own.

I500 is a very well-produced pinball version of the annual race. Official announcers are the voices and actual racers for the time period are referenced. Game plays fast. Very fast. Having only one shot from the third flipper after owning TS was a downer. Recommended for the racing enthusiast. Parts are hard to find. Hopefully that changes.

Fun for a game or two but that is as far as it goes for me

A challenging game, as it can be very fast. It has a good flow, many interesting shots, and a rather deep ruleset. The theme totally works, even if I'm not a fan. Overall, a nice machine if you enjoy the way it plays.

Indy 500 is one of the fastest, most difficult pins out there. It's fair though. You just need to play it the way it wants you too. You can't attack it from different ways.

It's simple, but has awesome flow, with great sound and speech that remind me of watching the Indy 500 as a kid. The Loop Turbo combo / ball lock is very satisfying to hit. The code suffers on the reliance of the 3rd shot in the Gasoline Alley mode, though. You need to hit that shot and pass 15 cars with any hope of winning the race. Too much rides on that shot.

I'd love to have a pristine example. If you master this, Indy will make you a better pinball player.

I'm not a racing fan, but I really enjoyed Indianapolis 500. Great layout with fun shots. Haven't put enough games on this to give a super in depth review of the rules; but from what I experienced they were well though out. I'd love to add one to my collection.

"Operators... Start your engines!"

Highly underrated machine that is not well know in the community but gaining momentum.
Becoming desirable due to market stupidity of Stern and JJP NIB costs.
Probably Dennis Nordman's second greatest design beyond Whitewater.
Comparable to quality of games like Shadow, Congo, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Getaway or Fish Tales.
Very fast, great flow, but not an entirely difficult game with practice.
Ruleset is average, but getting GOOD SCORES requires understanding of the game and maximizing the races.
Ramp shots are good with gameplay.
Artwork is above average.
Toys are not revolutionary, but the variable lighted square targets are a neat feature.
Good complement to most medium size collections.
Superb complement game to Getaway overall due to theme and the speed, and significantly better than Stern's Grand Prix or NASCAR overall.

My best recommendation is CLOSELY look at the game specific parts on the game meaning the targets, ramps, and racing wheel track, as these are getting VERY hard to find now if you wish to own one.

Very fast game, great sound and uses callouts by racing legend Bobby Unser. Being an Indy car fan, this is a great racing themed game. The ruleset makes sense and works well to create a fun game.

this game is a lot deeper than it initially looks. Keeping it setup faster than most games, it really helps with the theme of the game and seems to play better faster. Very punishing for missing shots and a lot of variety. Not a fan of the theme, but holy crap is this game fun.

Gryszzz let me try his beloved Indy 500 and it was a good time. I don't love many racing themes but this one was really good. Williams really did their research and did the license right with the official announcers of the 500. Music stood out as not something normally associated with adrenaline fueled racing but was still very good. I would love to play it again.

Just got my Indy 500 delivered two weeks ago. I was expecting really difficult from the comments, not at all, but i'm used to playing TWD which the shots are tighter and much more difficult.

I love the sounds and the callouts. Awesome fit for this theme. Super fast flow with decent rules.

This pin has the replay factor going for it. Want to keep hitting the start button!

Very underrated Pin. Super fast with 2 ramps and very nice flow. The playfield is bright with deep color and it captures the overall theme extremely well. 3 different multi-balls and also a useful 3rd flipper. Super fun, under the radar, low produced game.

Super Fast pin! Short Ball times! Makes Iron Man look like LOTR ball times. If you have the mental toughness, this pin is going to make you a better player. You have to be a sniper, & have crazy flipper skillz.
When the ball exits the ramps, its going a 100mph, plus the ramp exits feel closer to the flippers than normal. Your timing to make quality shots is a fraction shorter than your used to.

The modes are All fun. The sounds & dots are of excellent quality! Love the call outs when your making ramp & orbit shots, it feels like your racing to the front of the pack trying to get the checkered flag!

So glad I read the reviews on here & watched videos of this pin. I bought one sight unseen having never played 1 before! I made the right decision!

Go find an Indy 500 & play it, you be the judge.

Man what a fun game! Amazing layout that keeps you coming back for more. Not many get to enjoy this because so few were made but if you get the chance you must give it a try.

This game is fast, challenging and fun as hell. I had high expectations before I finally played one - and the game managed to exceed them. Can't say enough good things about it. This is Nordman at its best - easily as good as Whitewater and Scared Stiff, but unfairly lower-rated than those simply because it's rare and many haven't played it. Should be a Top 20 game.

Edit - Got lucky and found an excellent one for my collection.

Played this at my first tournament. It blew alway everything at the tournament. What a fun game, great shots! On the hunt for my own now. If you ever get a chance to play, check it out.

this game is awesome. fastest game in my collection and just brutal. makes bsd (which is my favorite game) look like count chocula with regards to being scary fast. the only thing I didn't give top rating for is the music. it's not terrible but it doesn't compare to shadow, sttng and bsd in my collection. I will say the playfield looks better than all of them though. I have mirror blades and leds and this thing lights up beautifully. race car and turbo lock are way cool too

Nearly bought one of these several times over the years, finally bit the bullet...I am a racing fan so that does not hurt. This game is excellent. Very fast, quite challenging, and a lot of fun. The announcers really add to the feel of the game. This is a game that is being discovered by players more and more these days.

I bought an Indy 500 and love it! It is set up steep and man oh man, is this one HARD and FAST game. Brutal. I love it...(btw, I also love Iron Man). The game feels like its uphill all the way and man does that ball fly around the PF.

Lots of gimmicks and gadgets, i.e., the ball accelerator made famous by the Getaway; the RED targets; the center hole for modes; the upper flipper shot to the turbo. The turbo shot off the orbit for turbo bonus is one of pinball's great shots.

Audio is top notch in my opinion and the announcers (real announcers) are great. They really add to the feeling and sound of an Indy 500 race. The lightshow for multiball is very nice.

Artwork is so-so, although I added a bunch of scale cars from Ebay. Lots of fun to mod.

One of my favorites - walk, don't run! But not for the faint of heart....
