This is a really fun EM! My friend has a Hi Deal, which I liked enough to want my own. Hang Glider is the 4 player version of Hi Deal, although the artwork and theme are entirely different. The Hi Deal artwork is more "fun", but I like the 70's feel of Hang Glider. I'm pretty sure the cliffs are in Torrey Pines glider port in San Diego. The tiny rollovers are unique and fun.

This game is mostly about either ripping the spinner once you get it lit or building up bonus and then trying to hit the double bonus shot when it’s lit. A nice variety of shots, and it’s always fun to spinner rip. Decent player but a lackluster art package makes this more suitable for larger collections with extra space in my opinion.

Great EM machine! Much better than its cousin "hi deal". Love the drop targets and "tic tac" rollovers! The hanglider in the backglass does look a little close to the ground but I guess he was just trying to get a good look at the ladies! Dude holding the bikini girl is a bit strange! Great all around game!

Highly underated pin. Set the double bonus right oprbit to come on only 2/10 times and you've got a great game. The only em I am aware of that includes an element of randomness and skill to get the double bonus. Wait for that "Light double bonus when lit" light to come on and you'll get one shot at it, if you miss you'll have to wait for it to come back on for another shot.

It's got a spinner, roll overs, pop bumpers, a kick out hole and drop targets! What more could you ask for out of a EM? Gameplay is fun and fast. We love it. It's became the favorite in our gameroom.

I like this one quite a bit. It is a cousin to Hi Deal, the main difference being the drops on the right are stand ups on Hi Deal. The gameplay is good and trying to get that double bonus lit is tricky. Hi Deal definitely wins in the artwork department for me, but I like having the mulitplayer capability on Hang Glider.

All around solid Bally layout with a spinner. Hard to not like that :)

Nice looking game with easy rules and a great sounding spinner. Found the game a little repetitive and eventually sold it to another pinhead.

Hang Glider has a good number of shots and some nice scoring mechanics (the double bonus is key). However, this pin doesn't bring anything new to the table. The artwork is pleasing to the eye and it has an assortment of features such as a spinner, kick-out hole, drops, and rollovers, but there's nothing here that will win you over in a line-up of other EMs. I do enjoy the kick-out hole in front of the pop bumper due to its risk/reward, although the shot is a pain to actually land.

I recently picked up this game thanks to the reviews I read here and on IPDB. This game does not disappoint for an EM with its fast pace and thumper layout which lends itself to machine gunning. The left and right top lanes add to good flow and the rollover buttons at the top are a unique addition. The rules are easy to understand and would be a fine machine for non pinheads to enjoy. As others have mentioned the addition of drop targets or a ball capture on the left side would have been a good idea because there is not much going on with the standard targets. The playfield artwork is very well done and follows the theme well, the backglass art is decent but still manages to convey the idea of "fun". Overall this is a very fun pin with all the sounds and feel of a classic EM and would make a fine addition to any EM lovers game room.

Hang Glider is a game that looks alright, and sounds like other games of the time. Fortunately, it plays very well.

The Pros:
Another deceptively simple game that has great action and shots. Jim Patla did a fantastic job with this playfield and it moves quite nicely. Itty bitty tic-tac rollovers at the top of the PF make nudging skills a priority. Double Bonus is a huge shot in this game, when it is lit, stop whatever you are doing if you don't have it and get it. This is your key to high scores on this deck. Ripping the spinner is always satisfying.

The Cons:
Another bank of drops on the left would have been cool. The art on the PF is better than the BG. The Saucer shot s more luck than an aimed shot.

The Takeaway:
A great Bally game from the mid 70's. If you see it, play it!

Nice playfield layout for an old pin. Huge amount of tiny rollovers are definitely unique and add to the gameplay. This was surprisingly fun for an older game and gameplay was nice, smooth, and well thought-out. Hate EMs and old SSs? This one might make you think again!
