Noteworthy features

  • Features a unique corkscrew-loop trick shot and split playfields.
  • No toys. The rescue lane is nice. Oftentimes, if the ball drained, it would go over to the other side of the playfield and bounce back on top of the flipper.
  • There is an air siren in the cabinet which will go off during specials and extra ball.

Trivia

  • This game was originally designed to be released as Top Gun after the 1986 movie with Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis, however the game didn't receive the necessary licensing from the studio, so the game was quickly renamed Gold Wings and rushed to released. No other Top Gun themed pinball machine was released.

Backbox ornament(s)

There was a topper available which looked like the deck of an Aircraft Carrier with lights on both sides of the deck which would light in sequence as if launching off the deck.

Video mode

This machine has no dot matrix or video display, so it has no videmode.
